For those who actually used them, you're damned right.Just like the Wii was going to become the preferred FPS system because of the controls.
Does this guy know what a "HUD" is and the benefit of that?
What the hell was he supposed to say? "Nah, just buy it on our competition's console. It's better that way. Our new system doesn't have any advantages, so it's worthless for this franchise"? I don't see a problem here...
...but saying it could be the preferred platform is bad, from a Nintendo employee? He could've said the following:
'We are very excited to have the COD franchise on the Wii U and we hope our fans will be too.'
'We believe that the COD franchise would be fantastic on the Wii'
'We believe that there is a lot that the Wii U can offer with the COD franchise that differentiates it from our competitors.'

I do think that the representative is incorrect though by stating that the Wii U can become the preferred COD platform.
Quote No.1:
"The Wii U could become the preferred way to play those games for some of the core gamers." No COD mentioned
Quote No.2 after this:
"You can imagine how a game like Call of Duty would work on the Wii U - the GamePad will allow you to declutter the TV and pull gaming items like maps down and not interrupt your interaction and enjoy the cinematic quality of the game on the TV."
Eurogamer: "Wii U could become "preferred" Call of Duty platform" <--- COD has been mentioned AFTER the "preferred"-quote and it was an example
Read the article first.

Man, how is having your minimap on the controller better than the tv
Hmm, I read the article again, thank you for the suggestion. Yes, the representative used the COD as an example of why the Wii U could become the preferred platform for core gamers. If its the preferred platform for core gamers and core gamers love COD (sales say yes) then the Wii U could be the perferred platform for COD. Pretty much what the title says.

Are you a joke poster?

Good luck then. You people try really hard.
The mental gymnastics you've displayed on this thread should be remembered for all time with a title. C'mon mods.
Man, everyone in this thread seems so angry
Serious business, my man. VERY SERIOUS.About what?
They were?
What was bad about them?
A COD piece?everybody wants a piece of that CoD

Hardware is there, just need innovation and a user base.
No they aren't. Well control wise it was better than the 360/ps3 one. Only difference was no DLC and the graphics.
Torture a man using the stylus to extract information. Perform surgery on a terrorist to extract the nuclear bomb inside him and then disarm it.You do nukes from the controller
That's about all the coolness I can think off
That's it Nintendo...pack it up and go home. You shouldn't believe you can succeed, nor should you show optimism to the public on issues you would like to be addressed. Next time, tell everyone you will fail when interviewed. It's easier that way.
Have realistic expectations is my advice.
Exactly.Have realistic expectations is my advice.
And network.
So...he shouldn't have said "we will fail", but instead say, "Eh...we will do ok. We won't be number one, but it will be a good game on our system. Online will suck though."?Have realistic expectations is my advice.
Lolling aside for a moment...I dont play CoD much so Id love to hear some opinion on this
Wouldn't it be much harder to play competitively having to look down at the controller screen all the time to see where your enemies are on the map? And I dont see how aiming would be improved or made any easier..so the scope is on pad not the tv screen? What exactly does that help? Am I missing something?
Vinci said:My advice: Look at the game. Does it look fun? Then be happy and don't fret too much the mystical powers that run it.
well in order for that to be the case, you have to have a competitive online platform
Don't argue with Amir0x, he's more interested in hyperbole than facts.Everything you said past this point was pointless because none of us know enough about their online platform outside of the fact they will integrate social feeds into their OS. The wider information is obviously coming at a later event.
If there are no substantive improvements over what they did with the Wii, you'd be right in everything you say... but I see little reason to believe that will be the case based off what Nintendo and folks like EA / Gearbox and others have been able to say so far.
Hardware is fine for what, a year at most? If Microsoft or Sony weren't releasing a new system for another 5 years I would agree.Hardware is there, just need innovation and a user base.
The thing with mini games like those is, to do 'em right it takes time, but for a lot of devs, if you really really are doing them right, you might as well do a whole other game around it. If you have something that was put together in a few days, like your first example, it would be pretty boring if you ask me. Unless you're doing some tickle torturing or something, then it'd be hilarious and awesomeTorture a man using the stylus to extract information. In 2013 people are going to want to play the games the best way possible (well, barring them buying a PC anyway) and that means most will flock to the new consoles with better graphics and online.
The Wii U will be competing with the 360 and PS3 power wise but not for much longer. Wii U Call of Duty will be a downgraded port in order to run on that machine in the coming years.
When you come out first you better have the goods to protect against the next guys and specs wise they have little protection. Right now they have a controller and first party games...like they did last generation.
