Does anyone here use a Y-cable for a USB drive attached to a WiiU? I attached a drive that way, and can see and launch Homebrew apps on the drive. I can even launch Nintendon't backups. But none of my Wii backups (or Gamecube ones) are seen by any of the Wii USB loaders (they all say "No hard drive on port 0" or something like that).

Thanks, i just managed to run timesplitters 2 but its crashing randomly, im still using the sd 2gb card that i used for installing homebrew so maybe its because its slow?Need to change back to an sdhc. Regarding the homebrew aspect which one is easier?

Are you using a full size ISO? Using trimmed or modified ISO is problematic with some games.
Wide screen:
1. if you're only bothered by the game being wide screen then setting the Wii U wide screen option in Nintendont is easiest.
2. If you want Homebrew channel to be wide screen then running aspect fix is easiest.
3. If you want wide screen Homebrew channel to be a more permanent fix then install the forwarder.
Thanks gibgerbeardman, the aspect fix seems to work, but yes you need to run it everytime it seems. How do you install a forwarder?
The image is not trimmed, the size is close to the 1.4GB but i've read that messing the force widescreen and progressive options might crash the games.
Also off topic, but to uninstall homebrew do you need to run the hack like if you're installing it using the various games(smash brawk in my case)?
Edit: Forgot to ask how do you configure the wiimote for using with timesplitters2? i wanted to use the AIM/crosshair with the wiimote pointing but i cant seem to use it with defaults.
Experienced this twice today with my Wii Classic Controller Pro connected to my Wii Remote. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon.

Delete any channels you've installed, including forwarders. Then delete the HB channel. See the HB channel website.

How do Cheats work on Nintendont? I'd like to unlock the characters and stages in Melee painlessly. I'd unlock them all again, but I just did that again last spring.
Yep it does. That's what I used for my Wii U.
Have you tried swapping the Y cable ports round? I'm guessing the data cable is plugged into the wrong one at the back.
This. The data cable needs to be connected to the "top" port when the WiiU is flat.

I have the same (more or less) problem as you. I use a drive without a Y-cable, slot 0. Wiiflow sees the games on the drive (i even downloaded all the covers) but can't run any of them (locks itself up) USBLoader doesn't see shit (but recognizes the drive in settings) on the drive, but does see my solee Gamecube game on the SD (so it is installed correctly on the Wii U?). Using a USB2.0 Seagate Expansion 500GB, worked perfectly on the Wii, runs ok on the PC. Nintendon't has zero problems running stuff from SD. Installed all needed IOS and cIOS. Any help?

Yeah, it sucks. I guess you could crack the controller open and invert the polarity of the C-stick with some soldering.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. So good. I'd re-bought a GC version years back so I could play it on my Wii.
I just found a solution myself.
Just download this file:

unzip it, then rename "SuperMarioSunshine-ReverseCamera.gct" to "GMSE01.gct" (for US Super Mario Sunshine, no idea if it also works for the European release).
Create a subfolder on your SD-card under directory "games" called "GMSE01" and put that file in there.
Now start Nintendon't and switch cheats to on.

I'm in the process of ripping all my GCN games using CleanRip.
I would ideally like to store both my GCN and Wii games on an SD card but a 32GB card is not going to be enough if I want Wii games on there too. Is this definitely the maximum size recognizable by the Wii U when in Wii mode?
What are my options if I want to avoid using an external USB HDD? I'm not keen on having to use a Y-cable to connect up an existing drive I have as it takes up both USB ports and I want to keep using the USB LAN adapter. I would prefer to keep the system "tidy" just using a SD card.

One other question. Is there any issues doing a Wii system transfer to Wii U if I already have the Homebrew Channel on the Wii U? I know with the original Wii it doesn't make any changes or remove the HBC but what about the Wii U?
I'm using a 128GB SD card without any problems. Get as big a card as you can afford.
I only use it for Rogue Leader, since it's basically impossible to emulate that using Dolphin, and my disk is getting pretty scratched up.

You don't.
There is no way to do that. Wii U itself needs the drive formatted with its own (encrypted) file system. Nintendon't needs FAT32.
You can't use 2 partitions.

You can and should use a SD card for Nintendon't and an actual external harddrive for Wii U itself.
Do not use a flash drive for Wii U games.

I take it the drive filesystem is NTFS or some such? Yeah, you need to format it to FAT32 and rip/copy the disc images to it once more. FAT32 easily supports your 500 GB drive, but I believe that Windows can only create partitions up to 32 GB. You'll need a third-party tool, or Linux/OS X, to create larger partitions.

That Nintendo doesn't offer this? well, there is real no way for them to offer something like that when the drive in the Wii U isn't able to handle gamecube discs.
Or us playing our own games, that we own and just rip on a Wii by ourselves, so that we can enjoy our Gamecube games over HDMI and use the awesome Wii U Pro controller to play them?
Yeah, formatted it to Fat32 and now works fine... now to rerip everything again. using a original Wii, but finally getting around to sorting this stuff out, the Wii side of things has been great so far.
