Can't keep updated with this tonight but I kinda wish we'd hear a date for when the reveal of the NX will be. Doubt it will happen but it would be nice.

We are so not getting anything on NX other than "We'll talk about it later this year."

"later this FALL" at best.

So this is different from the things they have that gabbo_game or whoever will tweet from?

Correct. Those are the quarterly results briefings. The next results release is in a month, but there's normally no briefing for Q1, so don't expect much from that, either.

I think the date for the NX reveal will likely just be announced completely out of the blue.

Capcom is basically a husk at this point, though.

They aren't in that bad of a shape anymore, unlike some years ago. Still, extremely important IPs and some really good devs too.
Anyway, don't know why we're even talking about that :p

I think Capcom's current issue is that they can't afford to make the games their fans expect rather than the quality/potential of their properties. Nintendo obviously isn't going to buy them though lol.

And they have the gyms, so QoL!

QoL is a product line separate from that. But Nintendo has expressed interest in restaurants and theme parks, gyms would work with the venture initiative.

Not really personnel-wise, though. All those IP's (Hudson as well), but no one to work on them.

IPs, established R&D facilities, and a few management personnel is all they need.

Mario's

I'd still ask why Nintendo has such poor merchandise opportunities overseas, like soundtracks, t-shirts, etc. considering the MASSIVE gray market over here.

I played this shit out of the N64 DS casino minigames.

Those mini games were no joke. There was even a thread about them recently.

Edit: I was thinking about the Luigi Poker game in SM64 DS and NSMB. Not sure if we're talking about the same thing. Either way, sounds like a killer app!

.@NStyles The investors' meeting starts in 20 minutes. The meeting room can hold about 1000, but the seats are currently about 30% filled.

Which kind of R&D facilities does Konami have? I doubt Nintendo would really need more.

Konami went all out at one point. They had a company R&D studio in Tokyo, Kobe, Nagoya, Yokohama, Sapporo, Hawaii and Chicago. I'm not sure what's left anymore though since their long term restructure and focus shift. But their IPs are valuable if Nintendo took PES, DDR, Castlevania, and Goemon. Maybe farm out an MGS and SH to a Western studio.

Capcom is a hollow husk of its former self. If anything, Nintendo should just buy up the few remaining talent there and a few key properties.
I think it's a very awesome opportunity, but IIRC Nintendo has said in the past that they don't want to acquire companies just to strip them down to their IPs. They want people that can enhance their production, like Monolithsoft.

Yeah, they're the ones! They were so good. I miss Nintendo's minigame collections.

Holy shit, didn't know they had that many facilities. Only remember vaguely one in the US that I think they closed down.
But yeah, of course, their IPs are super valuable. I just feel Capcom has a closer philosophy/fanbase to Nintendo, whereas it makes more sense for Nintendo to just "rent"/licence out Konami's IPs (I doubt they'd want Castlevania and Silent Hill that much too, mainly due to Metroid and the Fatal Frame deals with KT).

Wasn't the 3DS announced directly after a quarterly meeting?

EDIT: I am misremembering.

What the meeting room looks like. Orange is the entrance, green are screens, filled seats are red, blue are vacant, pink is me.
