it is 2016. videogames are connected to the internet. its the way of the world. your phone is connected to the internet. in some houses their fridge is connected to the internet.

if you review games on the internet for a living and yet refuse to download an update then u are a moron

so he didn't refuse to download an update, because the update isn't out yet.

what he did was find a store that would break street date so he would be one of the first reviews out there under the guise of "reviewing what is on the shelf"

14 pages of a review thread and there are hardly any reviews. The thirst is real.

And people need to realise that in 2016, it goes far beyond what is on the shelf.

People are absolutely right in saying that someone with no internet access will have a different/inferior experience.

Its 2016 though, and those people are in a completely irrelevant minority.

I agree, especially for day 1 patches

Entire half of the game?

Bad example. I remember Forza 5 on Xbox One couldn't be completed without the patch. Stuff like that.

Is that really what we want? You can't view a Denuvo PC thread without 50 pages of people discussing preservation.

So what does Forza have to do with NMS. The game is playable without the patch. I have watched it being played and that already sold me. This patch just adds to the experience.

Fix bugs, not add the entire half of the game.

Which is not what's happening here. The game is playable from start to finish on current build, the patch is fixing bugs and balancing some gameplay elements while improving others. A patch, that is.

There's much to be said about patches and certification processes, but you seem to be in every NMS thread just to stir up shit without adding anything to the conversation. Did Hello Games wrong you in any way? I'm genuinely curious.

Yeah, but it's important to criticize developers on this. It's only getting worse. What happens when games doesn't fit the disc anymore? Is it ok to throw half the game as a download in order to be completed?

That's already happening, and it's not the case here.

TLG will be a classic.

Surprisingly, UC4 didn't burn in flames but TLG will be a beast. I think GT Sport will be another one with all the Evolution, Forza, "lol, these guys take forever to produce this?" etc... nonsense that will go on.
Over 75 people were banned in the UC4 review thread and various threads. o_o

Do we speak the same language here?

Current build is not half the game. And what has anything to do with game size? Game will reach 5-6GB at best.

This is not a space on disk issue, the issue here probably has everything to do with time constraints (not wanting to delay the game even further) and certification processes.
And even considering your point, of all teams that put out day one patches, you choose to bash the small 20 people indie studio that worked its ass off to provide a sub ~1GB patch not one day, one week or one month after the game releases: one day before the actual day one.

So excuse me if I find your opinion rather questionable if not ridiculous altogether.

No, it isn't. Hello games are an indie developer that hasn't released a game since Joe Danger 2 in 2012. It makes no sense for them to finish the game 100% before going for certification, then paying their staff for a month of doing nothing. This way they start seeing revenue 1 month earlier. There is no problem here.

Was excited when I saw the thread and in the end it's just one review lol

I want to say that FFXV thread will be as big, but I doubt it. NMS seems to be the most hyped game to release this year after Uncharted 4 at least on GAF.

They're not shortsighted though, they're just concerned about the future. One of my major concerns is that when I have a family and am on my deathbed, I would really like to grasp my great grandchild's fragile hand and pass him / her my PS4 and first-print physical copy of No Man's Sky. But right now, with this patch bullshit, I'm worried that the strain of knowing I'm not giving them the definitive version of the No Man's Sky experience will simply be too much, and my frail body will just give out and turn to dust.

Man I died

I fucking died

Pure Playstation? When a PS only website gives it an 8, I expect more popular sits to give it a way lower scores. Hope I'm wrong

WTF!!!!!

WHOA!!?!!!

EDIT- is this fake?

Hmm, nope? It's on the official NMS website, written by Sean Murray himself.

Flawless victory, my friend.
