Spoilers:
you all start in the same Galaxy, once you reach the middle you go to a new randomly selected Galaxy

So can you ever pick between diferent galaxies? Is there a multigalactic map (whole universe) or just a galactic map?

and if there is No map, how can you reach the center of the universe?

What I did was go into the galactic map and press O then press right on the D-PAD and it scrolled through my discoveries.

Only got that working once.

Cannot figure out how to do this again.

Is there no easy way to go back to your previous discovered systems?

Just jumped on the ship for the first time. Took a little spin around the scenery, and I saw HUGE amount of gold everywhere I looked. Luckily I also found a shop terminal thing or whatever so I can get rid of it. Got lucky for my first planet!

Keep a note where it is, and come back later with suit upgrades.

This is a survival game. It gets tough.
I've warped 3 times since I discovered it :( I had also found a planet with a lot of gold and emeril deposits but space was riddled with pirates so I left that system as well. The new system I'm at has 5 planets so I'm bound to find good stuff.

And I'm in! Goodbye real world!

Does anyone know what the atlas guidance thing does at the very start? I repaired my ship and took off without accepting it's guidance as I was worried what it would do. I'm now having a hard time finding my starting area though. The planet is too big! It would certainly help if all of my waypoint discoveries showed up on the HUD or radar but they don't seem to show half the time. Any tips?

Any idea on what is that red icon at the bottom right of the screen? It resembles a warning for shields/armor, though I have everything maxed so I'm not really sure what's trying to tell me.

found a planet with pants that have pearls on it and they are 80k each its full with them ! MONEY MONEY

After my 1st 7 planets without any valuable resorses, i landed in the 8th planet just to find out hes full of Gold. Huge boalders of goal all over the place, now just need to find a trading stationn to keep cashing in.

BTW is there a way you can "bookmark" for example a tradestation in your map?

Restarted on my account I can remote play with and doing much better about managing my resources. Suit upgrades have been hard to come by in this save though, need to search planets more for those little triangle buildings.

Also ran into my first hostile life form. I don't think I did anything to piss it off, so that was surprising. Mining laser/grenade launcher'd it to death.

I'm appreciating the little bit of hand-holding going on in the beginning that basically walks you through finding everything you need for a hyper drive. I'd be pretty lost without it, and even now I need to do a lot more research to figure out how to make warp fuel. I can't imagine they will just be handing it out moving forward.

Crafting warp fuel is quite a process. I look forward to sometime in the future where I have it memorized, much like many of the recipes I know now in Minecraft.

Here's what i did:

See if u have the recipe to make it, see the ingredients. You can buy what u need in a space station. I had a hard time finding it out for myself.

Marathon session from as soon as I got home from work yesterday, until about 1:30 am. I am physically and mentally exhausted. And I love it.

Hehe. I got to start playing at midnight and didn't get to bed until near 4am, just lost track of time completely. I'm currently sitting in the in-laws and I'm not happy about it, I need to play.

Anyone else come across something called a gravitational ball or something like that? They were naturally occurring on a planet I visited yesterday and the sentinels didn't seem to take to kindly to me picking them up. Really weird.

The game really clicked after 5 hours and having upgraded my suit inventory to 20. I know I won't experience this again, but the moment I could jump between stars.... seeing all those star systems and then going to a new one ... it awed and moved me.

I'm sure it will get repetitive down the line, but all the subtle lore exposition, the planets itself and the game mechanics are making this a very compeling journey.

Good job Hello Games!

So, I saw a thread on 4chan last night where some PC users were encouraging others to buy the game, rate it 0 and request a refund through Steam.

Might be interesting to keep in mind when reviews start coming in.

With GOG offering a DRM free version, it sounds like they're going to pirate that version after tinkering with scores on Steam.

So I've noticed that nearly every single ship I've seen fly into a space station, alter inspecting it, doesn't seem to have a hyperdrive installed. Is there a way to craft one?
Wondering if you or anyone has found a solution for this situation. Really sucks.

People are just messed up.

Downloaded this yesterday and didn't stop exploring until this morning. I think this game will be taking over any and all of my free time for the rest of the year or longer. LOVE IT!!!!
I am so excited to buy a larger ship and craft my life away as I travel across the universe.

So yesterday I started the game.

Here is my Story so far, put in spoilers in case somebody does not want to be spoiled in any way. Nothing story relevant I think.

I started in a lush planet. Beautiful turquoise grass, red trees and yellowish red sky, fiery red at times.

damn! that sure beats
the hellish, toxic rain-drenched planet i started on!
:) ...

I am not really having the feeling of repetitiveness (yet?) some are experiencing. All my planets so far have been pretty different and the gameplay loop is not different from other survival games imo. I always found much needed elements to maintain my suit and ship relatively closeby. I just need to upgrade my inventories a bit more to be more comfortable and to be able to craft some more upgrades. Usually I am no fan of survival elements (it kills We Happy Few for me for instance), but here I am ok with it

You can switch between free roam and guidance at any time on the galactic map by hitting R1. It just makes it so you move from planet to planet faster with a series of quests. It doesn't show you all of the points of interest on a planet.

Any tips on combat? I've tried to turn hard and weave, use boost, other tactics... nothing seems to keep me from getting shot when an enemy decides to shoot me.

It feels like 5 guys locked in a refrigerator hitting each other with hammers.

I think he's talking about the question you are asked by that floating ball thing at the start of the game. I chose not to follow it and explore freely and I still get the map to the galactic centre.

Also, what is the point of "scanning" when you are in your ship? It seems like the only time anything every shows up when I scan while in my ship is when I first get to a new solar system... it randomly will show me a location on the closest planet.

After that, being planetside or in space, scanning doesn't do anything.

Is there any timed quests in this game? I've played plenty of Elite Dangerous and while most time side quests were manageable, my gameplay sessions start whenever and end whenever. I looking forward to play, but just looking to play when I can and not be bogged down with a timer.

If you are using the preorder ship that came with the hyperdrive, you have to ditch it for a ship without the hyperdrive in order to get the quest for the blueprint.

That's what I had to do last night and as soon as I did the quest all of the ships I could buy had hyperdrives.

Using the preorder ship makes you skip a good portion of the tutorial that takes you through multiple planets to get the blue print and pieces for the hyperdrive

I'm just moving around, finding monoliths and learning the language so I can make out what these damn aliens want from me. I'm wondering if it's just random generated gibberish or if someone will do like a NMS language translator.

I haven't encountered any. Timed quests were frustrating in Elite Dangerous.

There is a map? That would be helpful.

You might not be there yet. But there is a map that lets you select your next star system.

I understand that. From my understanding and what people have said on Reddit, all that option does is make it so you have a set path to the center. You can switch from free roam to set path at any time in the galactic map.

Played this for a couple of hours last night. I am still on my home planet, trying to unlock, catalog, and find everything I can on it before I move on. This game will take me a very long time.

I went to bed sort of bored of the game, but then this morning I woke up and all I wanted to do was play it more, discover more, explore more, progress more. I suspect it is a game I will keep returning to again and again. Like Binding Of Isaac, which I have hundreds of hours in and still haven't unlocked everything, but boy do I love playing it in spurts over a long period of time.

That to me is what games should be. Not epic one-time spurts and then done with the game, but games which you can return to again and again.

I have such a love hate relationship with this game. More than any other game I can remember. But I keep playing so much be more love than hate!

That and a new ship are my priority.
I really want to know what the aliens are saying.

I feel like I made the mistake of holding onto so many resources that I had to pass up lots of loot. Is selling off artifacts the best way to free up space and get units or are they used for anything special?

I noticed that by the 5th solar system I went to, I was getting tech upgrades that required artifacts to craft.

However, I'm pretty sure you can buy the artifacts at space stations, so don't worry too much about holding onto them and taking up slots until you need them.

Started day 2 by leaving the space station. Flying is not as difficult as I feared (I suck at flying in games).
Decided to inch closer to the center, picked a random undiscovered planet, scanned for its beacon and blasted there.
My first landing was uneventful, easy as pie, I am starting to love flying now.

My 2nd planet ever was a strange red/green wasteland - red irradiated ground with plentiful lakes and oceans that are even more irradiated. Nothing my suit cannot handle, and the temperature is nice and cozy 30 C.
But there is no animals on the planet at all. There are plants and rocks, the usual elements you can farm, but not a single animal. The discovery page has zero ??????s.

I did find a spaceship that turned out worse than my DLC ship, so I just pilfered it for a random blueprint, then took of too see a guy about a thing (Hyperdrive blueprint that I don't need due to DLC).

Then I had to stop because I almost forgot to pick my daughter up from kindergarten, and now we are watching Elmo's journey to the center or Mr. Noodles' mind.

This game is so addictive.....and awesome.
