North Korea launches missile that passes over Japan

My guess is that it's just NK going "See? We could hit your entire country if we want to, the missiles don't all land short".

China has to get those dumbasses in line.

I am totally convinced North Korea has the pee pee tape.

What other reason could NK have for doing this shit?

How does drawing the US into military strikes against North Korea benefit North Korea?

Isn't there a CSG stationed in the area? Coupled with what I have to assume are at least rudimentary anti-air/missile defenses by the Japanese armed forces, what are the odds a missile actually makes it to land and hits?

If it flew over Japan, they have the ability to hit Japan. Even if it's a test that was never meant to hit Japan (which it probably was) this is not something to dismiss as dickwaving.

Uhhh, holy crap. They haven't released this kind of warning for any previous NK missile launches recently, eh?

This sucks with how stupid this one-upping is getting.

Dude, Japan sent out a alert to its citizens. This isn't dick waving.

They flew a mission OVER JAPAN. Not into the sea near them. This could have very well killed a ton of people.

But it seems like you need to chill tho

Sigh. I'm not dismissing this as a thing of nothing. But NK has been doing this for a while now. Kim has everything to lose by attacking a major US ally. These launches always seem to make GAF go into panic mode. Chill out.

Flying over the country is a step up for sure. That could easily have malfunctioned, hit land and killed people. Something has to be done, or we'll be saying it was too late after it does happen.

Apropos tag lol.

This is very different. It entered the airspace of an ally.

So, given the location I don't know what is and isn't in place in the North, but wouldn't a middle in Japanese airspace and over mainland JAPAN warrant use of THAAD?

Has it been confirmed it actually passed through Japanese airspace or is it possible the term 'passed over' is being used liberally?

Honest question. It's just shocking to me they'd fly it through the country

If it was going to Guam it wouldn't pass over northern Japan. It will probably go into the ocean off its coast. This has happened a few times before (I think 3 times before).

Of course during the hurricane while he's distracted they decide to do this shit.

I hope to fuck it isn't a nuke, and I hope to fuck it doesn't go off. Either way this is huge.

Stay safe, Japan GAF my prayers(and energy) are with you.

No. This is upping the stakes big time from willy waving before. I think with this it deserves a military "slap" at least.

Firing a missile into another country could be reasonably interpreted as a declaration of war.
It flew over another country.
Unless Japan wants to start nuclear armageddon over a missile that lands in the water east of them your post is nonsense

Have a feeling this will be ignored by the US, mostly. Which is a shame. Japan and the US are close allies, I would think that this would be unacceptable in some way. Anyone with definitive answers (not speculation please) want to chime in?
