North Korea launches missile that passes over Japan

Do you see me calling this a game?! It's deadly serious but people here need to stop loosing their minds over every NK missile launch. We had the same mass hysteria over on the India/China thread when both countries started sabre rattling. That has now been defused.

,,,this thread was started by someone who actually in Japan who got an emergency alert about this on their phone. Other people in Japan have also visited this thread to talk about it. It's an intense situation for them. And this is the best you can do?

Jesus Christ. Stop trying to be the smartest person in the room. Not the time and place.

The red pin is Hokkaido.

I wonder if they clipped the edge of the island or went right over the middle?

Either way - that's an act of war.

Everything NK does will get hand-waved away.

They'll have to literally nuke tokyo and then people will still be like "let's calm down, this is just some dick waving"

Not to perpetuate the idea that Guam is their intended target but yes Guam IS south of Japan. However, NK is north of Japan so it isn't impossible that the missile would fly OVER the North part of Japan, as it did, in route to Guam.

Northern Japan is to the direct East of NK. Guam is to the South and just a little east. There is no way that if they were targeting Guam it would fly over N Japan, it would go over Okinawa.

Y'all,

NK's launches fail. Often.

North Korea launched this missile knowing full well that it could fail at any moment, including over Japan, which could have caused it to hit the country.

This is not "dick waving". This was Kim Jong Un knowing full well that he could have started World War 3 and not giving a damn.

Sigh. I'm not dismissing this as a thing of nothing. But NK has been doing this for a while now. Kim has everything to lose by attacking a major US ally. These launches always seem to make GAF go into panic mode. Chill out.

They've NEVER done this before.
What the hell are you talking about?

It's clearly an act of war. It was intentionally flown over the country. If it failed it could have easily killed hundreds maybe thousands of people.

We still have the same tools available as yesterday:

Diplomacy
Sanctions
Chinese pressure
Catastrophic military and humanitarian disaster

It flew over another country.
Unless Japan wants to start nuclear armageddon over a missile that lands in the water east of them your post is nonsense

There's nothing about my statement that isn't reasonably and factually correct.

I wouldn't be surprised if SK or Japan decide a line has to be drawn somewhere, and this is a definite escalation over previous threats to the region.

You remember back in 2011, I think, when NK shelled a SK island randomly and killed 4 people?

China needs to shut up North Korea. Seriously. They can put a puppet or some shit in charge, or do something else, but this is nonsense.

No country should be firing missiles over other countries.

We can't lose our minds but this could have failed and killed people. This is no longer saber rattling

If this flew over the US it would be an immediate war. You can't have missles over your country and be like that's no big deal

Once again, a NK thread where everyone is losing it. NK has fired over Japan a number of times before. Whenever they do a missile test, they do a few at a time, not one.

It is unusual for them to fire over Japan, but not during times of tense relations with the US and during the exercises that happen every August in SK.
