November NBA Season Thread - It's finally time

had we not traded Snaq, he would have just been disgruntled and out of shape. It was a lose-lose situation for us, so in that regard Mitch and the Doctor did the absolutely right thing.

as for Jason Kidd, fuck that. He's old, has a busted knee, and a ginormous contract. No thanks.

Meh that team that played the Pistons was not a full strength at all. In terms of points production Malone, the Glove and the bench in general were inconsistent... and that's a polite way of saying it.

Do I think Miami will be better? Not necessarily, but your post above makes it seem like LA came in firing on all guns, Malone hitting wide open J, the Glove shutting down folks and driving the whole... and the rest the supporting cast contributing night in and out..... when that wasn't even close to the case.

Throw Latrell Sprewell to the top of the list of "Top NBA Douchebags". On his contract negioations (that are going badly, apparently)...

"Why would I want to help them win a title?" he (Sprewell) said. "They're not doing anything for me. I've got a lot at risk here. I've got my family to feed. Anything can happen; it's a long season. You never know."

why would you want to help them win a title? Maybe cause they're paying you $14 million this season, you fuckin' ingrate. Maybe they should trade him to Miami, he and Snaq would probably get along just fine, and Snaq can loan him a buck or two in case he runs short on money to feed his family with...

Leslie Alexander is proud to announce the signing of another superstar to the Houston Rockets organization. “Tracy McGrady is one of the greatest players in the game today. This marks another stone in the foundation to making the Rockets one of the premier organizations in all of sports. Yao is next, and we hope to sign him to a long-term contract as soon as allowable.”

Poor Spree can't feed his fam on tens of millions a year? -_-

Hey, I'm not even hating on him for wanting more money. That's his right if he feels he has more value that what they are paying him now but these guys need to STFU with the "feed my kids" crap :lol

PS: Lakers waived Bobbit, picked up Butler's option but didn't pick up Rush's. Watch Rush blow up this season and walk. The guy is good but playing behind Kobe hasn't let him develop well enough IMO. Maybe this will light a fire under his ass....if Mitch isn't planning to trade him.... o_O

I'm glad they didn't go with Lamar at 4. The Lakers bench is hella nice though.

Brown, Rush, Butler (6th man of the year), Cook, Mihm :D

Quite frankly the Lakers were lucky to win the first round, nevermind get to the finals (Francis made some of the dumbest point guard decisions I've ever seen, the Spurs cold shooting did them in, and the TWolves missing Cassell was HUGE). Once they played a healthy, fully-functioning team with a shut down defense, the Lakers with their average at best defense and lack of depth on the bench were ripe to get exposed. Even if Malone had been healthy, the Pistons would've won...it just wouldn't have been as ridiculous in those middle three games, blowing them out by like 90 points.

I've got a lot at risk here. I've got my family to feed.

:lol :lol :lol I love Sprewell, but WTF man...

Snaq might miss the opener

30 million for a guy who isn't healthy enough to play in the first game of the season?

I am going to predict that Shaq will only play in 55-60 games for the Heat this year. You should have taken the pay cut and stayed in LA Shaq. :D

its all part of Master Plan 2.0. Snaq is going to opt out at the end of the year then come back to the Lakers for the vets minimum.

Tony Parker to sign extension

6 years for $66 million

Parker and the Spurs FO have been apart on about 2-4 millions, but Pop and Duncan put pressure on Holt, so he would get it done before tonight's deadline. All of this according to Tony, who spoke on a french radio and confirmed the news.

Now the Spurs have 4 starters set for at least the next 5 years.

DYNASTY TIME! :D

LeBron loves his girlfriend. There is no other woman in the world he’d rather have. The problem is, Dwyane’s not a woman.
Nice to see Tmac sign the extension :)

WTF is up with Taylor starting? Is Gundy going with Taylor cause he knows the system better than Howard.

Just read this on bspn Insider

Kidd is willing to play for the Nuggest, Mav, Wolves, Lakers. A possible trade involving Kidd, Mourning for Sprewell and Cassell and another player.

The Bobcats really should start Bogans. They traded for him, now use him. He'd do a hell of a lot better than Kapono.

Kidd gave them something else to look at when he submitted his wish list, topped by Minnesota, Denver, the Lakers, Houston, Sacramento, San Antonio and Dallas. According to three Eastern Conference executives, only one team would gamble on Kidd's knee without seeing him play first - Minnesota.

Minnesota was offering Wally Szczerbiak, Sam Cassell and Latrell Sprewell (note: maybe that's why these 3 don't seem to be happy campers), in a deal that at one point included the Knicks. The Nets have shown no interest in Szczerbiak, and Cassell's contract, set to expire next year, does not come close to matching Kidd's.

San Antonio, where Kidd nearly signed as a free agent in 2003, declined to trade Tony Parker and Manu Ginóbili. Sacramento did not want to trade Mike Bibby.

The Nets were close to sending Kidd back to his original team, Dallas, in a deal for Antoine Walker, but two people involved in the negotiations said the Mavericks' owner, Mark Cuban, wavered after the Nets gave him too much time to think about it. The Mavs, who will start Devin Harris at point guard, will monitor Kidd's recovery.

The Nets had a cursory discussion with Portland, but that was not where Kidd wanted to go. Whether teams will be able to absorb his salary will determine if the Nets can trade Kidd and start looking toward the future.

Those crazy Nets. Sure, we'll give you our young talented backcourt for an aging PG with fucked up knees and an awful contract.

McGrady, who has three years and $47.1 million left on his current deal, has been extended for an additional four years that are worth $85.7 million, ESPN Insider Chad Ford reports.

The only team dumb enough to take Jason Kidd is the Knicks. I fully expect Isiah to panic and trade whatever talent he has left for Kidd by midseason.

I find the Miami bandwagon absolutely laughable to be honest...it's like people already forgot that Detroit waxed a superior Shaq-abled squad just five months ago (granted I think Miami will feed him the ball far more then the Lakers did the last couple years).

Not to mention that the 97-99 Lakers were repeatedly embarrassed in the playoffs with a peak-of-his-career Shaq. There's no way Miami touches Detroit and Indiana in the east, and their window is a pretty short one (in two year Shaq will be on the slippery slope that all centers end up going through).

Exactly...without Phil Jackson I'm not sure the Lakers ever win a title, cause it's pretty obvious the discontent between Shaq and Kobe was too great for them to overcome by themselves.
