Now that the heavy hitters are out... Top games?

While KZ2 and inFamous are worthy mentions, Uncharted 2 just blows everything so far out of the water it's incredible. I still have yet to play AC2 though.

The bottom of the "heavy hitters" goes to MW2. So unpolished, unrefined, and not enough extra stuff was dumped into it despite MW1's sales. Very-disappointed.

People who have MW2 at #1 in the official GAF GOTY thread are going on my ignore list.

I have Assassin's Creed II on the way to my house, so depending on how that ends up, Batman may end up getting bumped off. But, in order of descending greatness:

1. Dragon Age: Origins
2. Torchlight
3. Modern Warfare 2
4. Uncharted 2
5. Batman: Arkham Asylum

2. Rhythm Paradise/Heaven
3. Wii Sports Resort
4. Art Style: PiCOPiCT/PiCTOBiTS
5. Contra Rebirth

If I were to count retro ports, Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Chrono Trigger would probably be in there :) A lot of the games I've bought this year though have been from previous years. There's tons of recent Wii games I still need to get...

Oh and I'm yet to play NSMBWii, Mario & Luigi 3 or Zelda: Spirit Tracks. Why? They're to-be Christmas presents :D

:lol :lol I can see myself playing MP for 1000 hours.. Very shallow game indeed.

There's been some really nice games this year, but I feel on the whole the quantity was somewhat lacking maybe to previous years. Something which shouldn't be the case next year.

Not sure how'd I rank them as they are all of equal greatness... though I'd say Uncharted 2 probably just sneaks in the lead due to the very high production values. You can really tell the love and care that was put into it. It really shows, so for all that effort it gets GotY for me.

I think I only played 3 games from this year...so...

Borderlands would probably be on there if I played it. Same with Red Faction, Marimusa and maybe ExciteBots.
 
Left 4 Dead 2 is the only answer I have, because it's the only game I've been 100% happy with buying this year that came out this year.

I need to play Risen and Torchlight a bit more. Can't drag myself away from my second Dragon Age playthrough though. 100+ hours total with that game now and it's only been out a few weeks.

Wow thats the same top 4 I was thinking about. I would probably place Infamous as my 5 though.
 
For the whole year? Only five?
Roughly:

1. Killzone 2
2. Dragon Age
3. Demon's Souls
4. Uncharted 2
5. Arkham Asylum

That's leaving off a lot of top notch games, but those have been the standouts for me. Modern Warfare 2 is up there too and Left 4 Dead 2 might be in the end of the year list if the lag is fixed enough that I can at least play it. Borderlands, inFamous, Beatles RB and a lot of downloadable games like Trails are honorable mentions.

Just got Forza 3 (which I'm currently really enjoying more than I thought I would) and will eventually pick up Assassin's Creed 2 and New Super Mario Bros. Wii, so the list could potentially change.
