Now that the heavy hitters are out... Top games?

i still haven't finished everything, but my top 5 would be:

1. Modern Warfare 2...excellent all around
2. Uncharted 2...fantastic sequel that addressed all the problems with the first.
3. Halo Wars...meh sp, but the mp was fantastic. I put over 200 hours into the mp.
4. Forza 3...the definitive racing game. It really is awesome.
5. Batman: Arkham Asylum...may be the best sp experience of the year; the lack of replay value knocks it a few spots down the list.

1. Demon's Souls
2. Street Fighter 4

DS is GOTY, without a doubt.

Dragon Age just edges out Demon's Souls as GOTY for me.

Demon's Souls is the best PS3 exclusive I've ever played, and probably one of the top 3 console-exclusive games I've played in this entire gen. It's a gem.

1. street fighter 4
2. MW2
3. Dragon Age:Origins
4. UC2
5.L4D2

haven't played Demon's soul yet but i'm going to get it asap.

I think this years fall release is pretty weak

My picks

Dragon Age
Uncharted 2
Batman

I would have put MW2 if the campaign is longer.

1. Assassin's Creed 2
2. Demon's Souls
3. GTA: Chinatown Wars (DS version) (Best handheld title of 2009)
4. Red Faction: Guerrilla
5. The Beatles: Rock Band

Surprise hit: Borderlands

1. Modern Warfare 2
2. Demon's Souls
3. Uncharted 2
4. inFamous
5. League of Legends

Honorable Mention to Brutal Legend... I think I enjoyed it more than most, just not enough to get it into the top 5.

My current top 5 for this year, will remain unchanged most likely, unless I get ahold of MW2 and/or AC2 and love them to death:

1. Uncharted 2
2. Demon's Souls
3. Dragon Age: Origins
4. InFamous
5. Batman: Arkham Asylum

1) Uncharted 2
2) Final Fantasy: Dissidia
3) Infamous
4) Ratchet and Clank: Crack in Time
5) Red Faction: Guerrilla

I'm just glad the game is getting all the recognition it deserves. Demon's Souls 2 must happen. :D

Great games I've played so far this year (no order):
Forza 3
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Modern Warfare 2
Halo 3: ODST
Borderlands
GTA IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony
Shadow Complex
Flower
Infamous
Klonoa: Door to Phantomile
Resident Evil 5
Trials HD
Tales of Monkey Island
Fallout 3 DLC

Disappointment:
Killzone 2

Still to buy:
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Metroid Prime Trilogy
Trine
Left 4 Dead 2
Dead Space: Extraction
Brutal Legend
A Boy and His Blob
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Mario and Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story

So, after I buy all of my desired games, that's nearly 25 amazing titles released this year. That's pretty impressive, if you ask me. :)

Compiling my GOTY list in the inevitable topic will be hard.

1. Forza 3
2. UFC Undisputed
3. BlazBlue
4. Modern Warfare 2
5. Street Fighter IV

So many games this year and I still havent played assassins creed 2, borderlands or dragon age.

Do it! I'll play with ya.

1. Uncharted 2
2. Killzone 2
3. Batman AA
4. inFAMOUS
5. Street Fighter 4

I haven't played Resident Evil 5, Dragon Age Origins or Assassins Creed 2 yet. I have played MW2 though. Did not make the list. Maybe a top 10 list.
Bordelands I am playing right now and it will not make the top 5 if not anything drastic changes. Brutal Legend I think had to many gameplay flaws. Awesome concept though.
Ghostbusters would propably make the top 10 as well. So would Torchlight.
Champions Online would not.

1. Dragon Age
2. Modern Warfare 2
3. League of Legends
4. Resident Evil 5
5. ODST

I still have to try UC2, L4D2, AC2, Forza, M&L, and NSMB, but I don't think I'll like any of em that much. Top 3 sure ain't changing.

In no order

Street Fighter 4
DJ Hero
Resident Evil 5
Ratchet and Clank CiT
Halo 3 ODST

Yes, I have bought pretty much ALL the big ones this year, and no, many of them didn't turn out to be what I was hoping. The above games either met, or EXCEEDED my expectations.

I forgot to mention Resident Evil 5. Because of controls, never thought, I'd like it. Instead I liked it very much. New game+, game save where you don't lose your items, infinite ammo mode made it fun.

Hm. I guess the best games really do come out at the end of the year...

This tradition is about to break next year. GOTY 2010 is launching on Jan. 26th.

Any...I repeat, ANY Game of the Year discussion that doesn't begin and end with Uncharted 2 is simply mind boggling.

Those of you who don't even have it in your lists either:

A) Have yet to play it. What the fuck are you waiting for?

or

B) Are entirely too wrapped up in your 200+ hour fantasy worlds of Demon Dragon Soul Age, level 12 fucking power sword. Get a goddamn girlfriend and get a clue.

Every other game released this year (and most others) is simply battling for second best. And this is coming from someone who plays his X360 a whole hell of a lot more than his PS3.

Well lets see

1. Modern Warfare 2 (my personal GotY)
2. Dawn of War 2
3. Batman: Arkham Asylum
4. Dragon Age
5*. Here would be Assassin's Creed 2, but no lets delay the PC version for 5 months to "optimize it", fucking ubisoft just say you are delaying it beacose of the pirates instead of pulling this bullshit -.- (Empire:Total War gets this one)

*will probably belong to Uncharted 2 if I buy a PS3 this christmass

B) Are entirely too wrapped up in your 200+ hour fantasy worlds of Demon Dragon Soul Age, level 12 fucking power sword. Get a goddamn girlfriend and get a clue.
dude you are posting on a gaming forum

stones in a glass house and all this shit

For me top 5 so far is:

Street Fighter IV (best this gen for me)
Infamous
Demon Souls
Uncharted 2
Batman Arkham Asylum

just started dragon age, I'm sure it'll be come either number 2 or 3. What 360 exlusives came out this year? I feel like I'm missing a 360 game..

This is quite possibly the most embarrassing post I've read on GAF. :lol

1. Halo 3: ODST
I heart Midship
2. Street Fighter IV
I heart Cammy
3. Forza 3
I heart my Z06
4. Chrono Trigger DS
I heart JRPG's again
5. Halo Wars
I heart the Mac Cannon

I think I've only completed (or expect to complete, in the case of NSMB) four new games this year:

1. Infamous
2. NSMB Wii
3. Ratchet and Clank
4. Uncharted 2

As good as Uncharted 2 is, I couldn't add it.

It's just not as fun as number 1. It's so bizarre. It's actually a better game in EVERY other way, except fun factor.

Something about Uncharted 1 MADE me want to play the game to completion in one hit. 2 doesn't. I'm borderline DREADING finishing off that snow level, I think it's 22?

Demon's Souls was my number 1 game this year, and I will put any money that you play a lot more video games than I do every day/week/year. But anyway, you're an idiot, dude. haha.

No, really. It was exceptionally embarrassing. A full-throated defense of a game that nobody is even remotely insulting, created by a company that you sincerely seem to think cares at all about you, and on top of labeling people nerds while breathlessly defending said game on an internet gaming forum.

Of course, this isn't the first time you've made a very stupid post, so I guess that's just how you roll.

GameFAQs is thatta way. ----->

What's that saying about a fool and his money?

I've got not only a career, but also a wife and two kids to compete with my gaming time, so yeah.

games that got the honour of consuming my life are

SFIV
Left 4 dead 2 (it's going to anyway, when I get TIME)
Halo 3/ODST/Multimap packs

and I guess MW2, although L4D is taking time away from that to play it.

I'll go between MW2 and L4D for a good long while.

I wish I had more time :(

  1. Sin and Punishment: Successor to the Sky
  2. New Super Mario Bros. Wii
  3. Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride
  4. Dissidia: Final Fantasy
  5. Punch-Out!!

Sin and Punishment: Successor to the Sky is hardly 200 hours long. Four at tops.

Posts like this are why people get annoyed hearing about Uncharted 2 every thread. I loved the game, one of my favorite games ever, but let people have their opinion.

Ouch, seems I really struck a nerve there...eh, Zeliard. Are you actually calling me a Sony fanboy? Wow. Nothing could be further from the truth. If anything, I fall much more squarely in Microsoft's camp, even though I own a PS3 and Wii as well

Really, it's all in good fun and opinions are just that.

Lighten up, Francis.

So you're basically asking us to write down our GOTY's?

1. Uncharted 2
2. Batman: Arkham Asylum - The Surprise of the year
3. Borderlands - Most addictive game I've played in a looooooong time
4. Killzone 2 - Does nothing new, but I loved how the game felt and looked. The weight, the movement, etc... Hated the firt one though.
5. Red Faction Guerrilla - Oh, the sheer amount of "Holy Shit-moments" I've had in this game

I have yet to play Assassins Creed II (was not a fan of the first), Ratchet & Clank: aCiT and The Saboteur.

Honorable mentions: inFAMOUS, Resident Evil 5, Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Noby Noby Boy & Brütal Legend.

1. Modern Warfare 2
1. New Super Mario Bros. Wii

Not sure what my Game of the Year nomination is and it's killing me.
