I feel like there's a slight input lag compared to base ps5, anyone else?
Do not blame my tv or tv settings.

Mines a bit loud but I had just been playing horizon remake in 120 hz mode for 2 hours.

Down load speed sucks right now on psn so gonna take a while to give it a proper test.

Damn.....another one with noise issues. Definitely seems to be a number of units that have this problem.

Meh for game I’m currently playing (dragon age) good if something your playing supports it well. Give it some time, don’t need to be any early adopter.

I am busy today so no chance to play it but it's beautiful. So much better looking than the disc drive PS5. Way lighter too!

Zero.
It's the first thing I've tried to notice while testing PSSR, but absolutely zero.

Question lads :
I'm noticing the console's light strip to be not as bright - or shall I say, less visible compared to my OG PS5 - is this normal or is my light strip borked ?
Yeah it's normal, don't worry about it.

As for the Pro, completely satisfied so far.
Only played a couple of hours of TLOU Part I as a PSSR introduction, which blew me away, and downloaded as a raw performance test for unpatched RE Engine games I care about RE4R Demo at Resolution + RT + Hair Strands, a demo that ran awfully from start to finish on regular PS5 in these settings, and it's now a butter smooth rock solid 60fps on Pro.

2/2 for now, however PSSR, while amazing already, needs to improve still as on Part I it doesn't resolve transparent alpha like dust particles and some water effects like splashes as good as native.

Console design is also improved, love the machine size, with the games I've tried mine is dead silent, installing the disc drive was extremely easy and quick. A satisfying experience overall.

Wonder if there's something like fan lottery out there cos mine is inaudible and my slim is pretty loud.
That sounds plausible at this point. My launch PS5 version was and still is totally inaudible and so far same for the Pro. Only noise I can hear is installation from disc drive.

So I've been testing it for most of the day and yeah it's pretty impressive what it can do to some clunky ass looking performance modes.

FF7R looks native 4k60 which is transformative and really shows what it can do for IQ.

Stellar Blade is similar the performance mode now looks sharp and and has a different look to it it looks native and runs at 80fps.

Horizon doesn't use pssr but turns the 30 mode on base to 60 and naturally looks incredible sharp and the IQ is impressive.

Motorfest is transformative. In 60 mode on base it's proper merky and the fsr is an absolute mess. On the pro like the other games it looks native 4k at 60 and looks like an actual next gen console.

SPider man is also impressive it looks native 4k and runs like a dream the fidelity modes in these insomniac games runs unlocked as well and it looks like 50/60 fps on vrr displays.
I'm so damn curious to see that Guerrilla upscaling in person, as soon as I'm done installing RE2R I'll probably go with Forbidden West.

Overall I'm very impressed it's absolutely worth the investment especially if you sell your OG.
Same, haven't sold my PS5 and still totally agree so far.

I have a 4090 × 7800x3d rig and the main thing here is your closer to that not the same and you have a console experience which is of course a million times better than windows. It's enough to make me consider buying my games on ps5 over pc.

pssr is an absolute game changer for consoles and when devs settle on a way of using it the best way it will really sing.
It is game changer unquestionably, but I'd want it to solve those little imperfections it has with transparent alpha before being adopted by everyone for everything.

I need a bit more time with it to gauge how I feel about it. So far, it’s a bit meh tbh but I was always going to buy it. No buyer’s remorse on my end. I’ve only tested a few games like Spider-Man, Stellar Blade and Hogwarts Legacy. I hadn’t played the games before so I have no reference point. Looking to check out vr and f1 shortly because I think it’ll make a huge difference there.

Well shit, guess I’ll let you guys know in the morning

It's smaller and so much better looking than the original. Disk drive installed and 2TB ssd moved over.

Too early for a real review as the new games will show the power.

I don't think I am going to notice a lot of difference other than framerate until I get my 65" 4K TV in a couple of weeks. I started playing No Man's Sky and kind of spent 3 hours hooked again. I am downloading Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth right now. Will try that out and buy it when on sale if I like it. I also need to try GT7, Diablo IV (doubt I notice anything here) and some others. I bought the Pro mostly to go with my upcoming new TV and future games that will have pro settings built in.

I love it when I get a new GPU for my PC, testing 10+ year old games with it(e.g. tested original crisis recently).

I can see the need for improved gfx on PC when your library consists of 20+ years of gsming.

On console, I don't know, are all games improved in terms of fps, resolution without any changes required from devs? If so that's really cool and well worth it.

As a quick follow-up, tested RE2R in 4K with RT from the beginning up until you reach the RPD station (mostly 45-55fps with rare peaks to 60fps on base PS5, a never-ending stutter) and fucking hell it's all smooth as oil on Pro.

Denzel Washington Reaction GIF

Have no measuring equipment so during that explosion cutscene (dropping below 45fps on PS5) I tried looking for inconsistencies by following moving fire sparks around the frame, but they all moved smoothly.
Raccoon streets filled with burning cars and zombies, literal butter all the way to the RPD gates. Running around the main hall, not an issue I could spot, a literal night and day from base PS5.

Very, very, very happy about this.
Now I know the rest of unpatched Resident Evil RT are rocksolid as they were all lighter than RE2. Only need to test DMC5 RT and as far as the performance gains I wanted from this machine I'm all set.

TGO

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
So far.....meh
I can see a slight difference with some games looking more solid, DF said Stellar Blade looks amazing.
But switching between Balanced & Pro I can barely tell the difference, not can't!
I can see it but it's nothing that stands out that much
Both are as detailed and sharp, but Pro Mode cleans up the digital artifact in little spots you can see if you get right up to your screen.
for those that put vaseline in their eyes to play at 60fps performance mode it's a big upgrade in PQ.
Especially when those games have really bad IQ in performance mode.
But if you dabble between the two depending on the overall package...you might be scratching your head and wondering if the game has been patched yet.
I'm still overviewing it, I've got most of the games with Pro Patches and I've only been through what was at hand so.
I mean I had a 1080p TV when I got the PS4 Pro and even then I could see a massive difference.
But this time... frame rates & future proofing is the only benefit I can see at the moment.
We'll see, still got more games to try 👍

I think it’s much more sensitive to airflow. Mine was a bit noisier than my launch PS5 in the same spot in my media cabinet. I pulled it out a bit and the fans died down almost immediately and haven’t kicked back up

Mines out in the open so that would make sense.

Not much of a confirmation. Everyone’s hearing is inherently different.

True

Get a ethernet cable. Regardless, Sony are idiots when it comes to networking.

The fact that I can download 100s of gigabytes faster from a remote server versus Sonys slow ass solution transferring data across local devices within the same WiFi.

I'm betting it has the cheapest wifi card available. Jarrod's tech on youtube does wifi testing on laptops as part of his testing and cheap ass wifi makes a big difference.

Weighed each unit. My PS5 with disc drive is ~9.75 pounds or 4.43 kilos and the Pro is 6.6 pounds or 3.04 kilos. Pretty big difference. 3.14 pounds(or 1 pie) lighter.

Cheap packaging and overall poor package ie lack of vertical stand, cheap horizontal stands, cheap feeling cables, none of it screamed premium, this already gave me a poor impression then after initial setup, it says welcome to PS5, no mention of Pro in any of the software, none of the games have an enhanced label/icon on the home screen, the majority of games give us no indication of what the enhancements are, it all just gives an impression that they want to charge flagship prices, but not offer a flagship device.

Then I load a game, the fan is noisier than my launch PS5, it's not LOUD like a PS4 or PS4 Pro but it's loud, it's like my PC at idle, but that's full of fans and has a 16 core 24 thread CPU and a 4090 in it, i shouldn't be hearing my console in 2024 especially when it cost me the equivalent of $908 USD, then Fortnite runs worse than my launch PS5 in the 120hz mode, Fifa gives me 60fps menus and cut scenes but the exact same gameplay, it's all just very shit if i'm honest, whatever, it means my eldest daughter can have my launch PS5 and I can pass the Xbox One X she currently uses to my nephew, after the absolute shit the PS4 Pro was in terms of noise I'll never jump on a mid gen refresh again.
This reinforces my belief that Pro is made primarily to increase profit gaps per unit sold. A Playstation device that costs 1000€+ here and doesn't even come with a disc drive. Just a complete shameless act of greed. Thanks for the elaborate post.

Just got done setting it up and about to dive in. I have off tommorow so I have all night.

I was able to move the internal SSD from my old PS5 without losing anything. No need to reformat.

Mine was cooler when horizontal vs vertical.
I didn't have a slim but I read that it got hot when using the vertical stand compared to the original. Maybe the Pro is the same since they are similar. Could be why some people are noticing louder fan noise since it kicks in more often

Picture of you with said ps5 pro and an index card with your username you are holding? No, I didn’t think so 🤡

Also, if you did buy it, why when you already had a “top of the line PC”? 🤡

Either way, 🤡 😂

I am not him but I did it to play the Console exclusives with the best fidelity and because GTA 6 is supposedly console only for the first year or two. I will still use my PC way more. I also can't help myself when new consoles come out. I grew up with them so I need to have the latest and greatest.

I am not disappointed with the console though. I am disappointed with Sony and how they ignore Bloodborne though. It's the first game I played and fuck it's an eyesore on my OLED still. My only hope is emulation it seems but I'm still waiting until it gets better.

I don’t disagree..I’m calling him a clown because the obvious way he trolled with the comment. Happens way too often with the same person.

I like the design of it, it’s quite a bit better than the original hideous PS5. I played Stellar Blade and Miles Morales for a bit and yea it’s a cleaner image but if I’m being honest, I think people are going to dig really deep to justify spending $700 on this thing.
