Nows the time for nintendo to show their hand.

Nintendo with aggressive marketing and pricing could come in and try to directly compete with Sony, but they are in their own market so I don’t that they will try to especially since they want to make profit of off hardware. Yes, the hardware will most likely be outdated based on history, but for the audience they are primarily targeting, that will probably be acceptable for most gamers especially if the games are there and the pricing is reasonable I feel. If it’s $500, I feel it will be between PS4 and PS4 Pro power-specification wise with a few tricks like DLSS Technology or something.

Nintendo is so aggressive in price that they announced a Super Mario Wonder OLED bundle in Australia for the Holidays and the rumours are that it will be......... the same price as last year bundle.

Your point is valid that Nintendo prioritizes money, but when I said milking, I meant it in a way that is one and the same. That is, we agree N will prioritize money, where we differ is how they might go about it.

40% less Switch games and systems sold vs the same period last year. That sounds terrible, until you figure how ludicrously successful Switch was to begin with: it means they are still coasting selling tons of old hardware and copies of Zelda and Mario Kart 8, and will keep doing it so long as they don't screw anything up. Switch 1 does not have to be discontinued the week after it sales rating is dropped from Insane to Good. While I believe they will be confident, there's no guarantee Switch 2 will lead to more sales; in their POV, it could have a tepid reaction, while ruining the Switch 1 business. Switch 1 is safe cashflow and Switch 2 is the scary but necessary future. Right now they are in the perfect position to sit back and rake in cash until they are ready to pull the trigger.
If they need to wait because of price reasons or because they need to games ready, then yes milking the Switch makes sense (which is what I believe they are doing this holiday season).

But once they are ready, they shouldn't just sit on Switch 2 and wait. They launch to launch as soon as they are ready to start growing their revenues again.

The way I see it, if the next Nintendo console is no more than $500, is backwards compatibility, has the full NSO library, and like 2-4 blockbuster new launch titles it's going to succeed. If it's $400 then it's going to sell like hotcakes. I'm most worried about lacking launch support, but judging by the releases we've been having this past year I feel like they'll have an ace up their sleeve.

it is going to succeed either way if they do backwards comp.
they can kill the switch no problem, sell off stock for 100whatevs less and be high on whatever they like to get high on.

then they are going to succeed as usual on the things that nobody can imitate, games. i heard some consoles have none, but who knows.

They’ll have the software ready, that’s for sure.
