Sigh, sad for QB and Remedy, really hope a price cut can do the miracle for the game. Happy to see Starfox Zero doing that well, I would expect much worse to be honest, even if I think the game is really good.

Really want that game, money is a bit tight now lol.

I check the bst thread every day.

I think we should guess star fox as well.

Go with
Qb 135,000
Sf 60,000

To be honest, how much of a market for full price single player games that offer nothing outside of a 4-5 hour campaign? No much, if I had to hazard a guess. ND are the only ones that seem to be able to pull it off these days, and even then their games have great multiplayer components and single player seems to be 10-12 hours now, which is very reasonable.

Heh in the prediction thread some dude said MLB above QB, I thought he's a lunatic, sorry dude :-(

Glad to see Ratchet debut high.

Funny to see Aqua hanging on the chartzz. I remember when I was there, she was shitting on the site constantly in these NPD threads. Even started hiding the numbers behind email/quote tags so we didn't get them. How the times have changed.

I think ND's multiplayer is very underrated. Along with them just being better than everyone else at the type of games they make their games also have much more replay value. TR reboot tried to copy it, but failed miserably so much so that they didn't even bother trying it for the sequel.

I think I read somewhere that Remedy was going to look at adding MP to future games.

They misread the market and took huge risks with the format. In the end, the end result is pretty mediocre. Let's hope this will shake the studio enough for a return to form. Taking that much time only to release a dud is not acceptable in this day and age, and nigh on suicide with a publisher like MS.

Well, it's your fault, kinda. :p

After the BS Microsoft pulled with the Games for Windows Live service I can't blame a single person for refusing to buy anything from the Windows 10 store.

Digital Distribution is all about trust since you don't actually own the game. Valve has earned my trust with Steam by what they've done with Steam over the past decade and a half. I would never buy a game from the Windows 10 store because I just don't trust Microsoft at this point.

For all I know in a couple of years Microsoft will decide an in OS store isn't the way to go and shut down the Windows 10 store. I have no fear that Steam will ever shut down or prevent me from accessing my games.

I think it's just a joke as Chobel made a prediction.

In case you're not following NPD that Chobel made it implies the prediction was incorrect.

Good showing for R&C and MLB (higher than division which is surprising!).

Seems QB has had a pretty awful debut considering the intent behind it, was pretty clear that would happen after UK charts.

If XB1 had a worldwide presence, they could recoup sales similar to what 1886 did to help out.

Congrats to everyone at Insomniac!
I hope to pick up the game soon, looks amazing :)

My response to Chobel was me joking that part of the reason QB didn't chart well was because he said there's no way RC will do better than QB, and Chobel is famed for terrible bets.

I might be misremembering it, but at the time reading both sites it was clearly targeted for chartzz users not to get the numbers from Gaf like we usually did.

Thought it was mainly to stop themselves getting into trouble with NPD and trying keep a lid on the numbers spreading like wild fire all pointing to gaf as the leak source. Users pleaded with the sources to be cryptic and no quoting or putting them in the OP, keep them buried in the thread and they'd be somewhat safe and not raise too much awareness . I don't remember chartz having anything to do with it.

Morning, GAF
*catches up with thread*
Huh...no cream with my morning coffee. That's sad.

Not sure why I'm reading people being heartbroken over Remedy. The almost deliberately terrible PC port and the way they handled consumer criticism should've killed all goodwill, imho...

Terrible month for HW sales. PS4 flat YoY with lower price and XBO down YoY at $299.

PS4 will rebound in may with U4. Xbox One most likely will have atrocious sales because the price got back to $349.

Wii U... better not comment.

it's almost as if the windows 10 version was something that was pushed upon them and not something they wanted anything to do with.

Maybe, maybe.

I'd have to dig through over a year worth of NPD threads to find what I was talking about (probably dig on chartzz as well for context) and that's not something I'm willing to do. Carry on :)

R&C - great result. Very nice reboot and looked lovely. But... For the love of God give us PS2 era MP. In particular I want the big vehicle maps and the snowman outfit. Pretty please?

QB - not great. Flagship exclusive with huge marketing/PR and obviously intended as a tent pole title bringing game/media side of XB1 together seamlessly to sell the concept. Arrived too late, hype had faded and the TV link belonged to an alternative reality where XB1 took off as revealed. Shame as core is solid (as with Alan Wake) but ita clearly nowhere near what expectations must have been originally for the title. Feels like MS's The Order really.

Hardware seems meh. XB1 needs decent drop. U4 will probably delay need for PS4 to drop but baseline the console needs a drop or constant stream of big hitters.

I don't think MP will help them

Naughty Dog is just in a whole other ballgame talent wise and people know that

Don't think MS is going to stick to that 349 price tag very long. If Sony and/or MS announce a new (more powerful) SKU for holiday, they have to reduce their prices for the old ones anyhow, most likely right away.

WiiU is dead.

Nope, not yet, which gives me a great idea. So, we know the winner for April, we have the software ranking, but we don't know how much the games sold. This allows us to still make bets. Yep, I went there. :p

I'm betting Quantum Break sold 120K or less. Anyone?

No, not revealed. Same source that gave the hardware numbers indicated that there were multiple titles in the top 10 that were around 100k excluding bundles.

Wait guys...that can't be right? Just over 100,000? Is that like the biggest flop by Microsoft in a decade or something? I'll wait for numbers because those numbers are incredibly atrocious for a game that was advertised well, was shown off very much so since e3 2013 I believe, has a cinematic appeal, from the makers of Max Payne and the amazing Alan Wake - to this?? What has Microsoft done wrong here? Really surprised how abysmal sales may be especially when Uncharted 4 moved over to April.

Hell, I wonder if it'll outsell the Order at this rate.

Why did hardware shit the bed all across the board this month? If Sony won the NPD and refused to drop some PR on us then yikes!

Because it's April. April is a historically low performing month.

Sony is flat YoY. Granted it's their first month this year where they aren't up YoY but I'd imagine next month will be a nice YoY bump thanks to UC4.

Meanwhile XB1 had a month long temporary price cut, a trade in promotion, and a heavily advertised exclusive game release but still posted a 10% decline YoY. That's no bueno.

WiiU and last gen basically collapsed in on themselves and since both of the major current gen consoles were priced lower than last year and were either flat or down we got a significant YoY drop in HW revenue.

The revenue drop was pretty much a certainty but the XB1 drop was not.

Most of the hardware declines/flats are common in every April, but to have a YoY decrease on the XB1 with a temporary price cut and Quantum Break? Who saw this coming? MS will likely have no choice but to drop the price back down again and who knows, maybe have another temporary price cut in a month or two that'll end up permanent as well.

You know what, the mods can delete this post if they want.

Thanks to a good source

PS4 - 175k
XB1 - 168k
WIU - 32k
360 - 13k
PS3 - 4k

The PS3 is actually selling worse than it does in Japan. I guess these last-gen consoles needed massive pricecuts. At this rate they're going to kill them before the price goes any lower. I actually wonder how low can the price go on a console with a HDD. Maybe the PS4 and the Xbone will encounter the same issue down the road.

Outsell The Order? Haha, good luck with that. If anything, The Order will outsell it by a significant margin. It happened in the UK, the US will follow a similar trend.

Low-ish QB sales were kind of expected after the underwhelming UK sales but man, for one of the more exciting XBO exclusives that's just a really disappointing debut in the US. :/

Microsoft hasn't been able to release a new AAA franchise successfully in nearly a decade and the marketing team can't seem to market anything well this generation. They announced this game way too early and by the time it saw the light of day, it seemed like a last gen type experience.

How many copies for Sunset Overdrive sell during its initial NPD? Can QB break that?

Edit: upon thinking about it, they did a good job of marketing TitanFall. Microsoft won't end up benefitting from that in the long run though
