Nintendo stepping up and not being idiots. Specifically, I'm expecting them to come out with a renewed push this year in Japan likely surrounding the Motion+ launch. If you browse the Media-Create threads regularly, you've probably seen various posts by me on that topic.

Nothing. That was a special time that shall not be repeated this generation. Keep in mind that even at these "depressed" levels, it's selling at a similar rate as the PS2 at the same point in its lifespan. The DS is already beyond the PS2 in total sales in Japan, as well.

No we do not have actual UK numbers for HoTD Overkill

the last sales awards report came out around the 2nd week of it's release

it should easily match the 100k-200k award that HoTD 2/3 Returns received just based on chart position in the Top 30 and Wii Top 10

HotD:Overkill not being on the Wii Top 10 means that 1) the Wii is selling a ton of software (as expected) and 2) it should've had balance board support and been called HotD:Zombie Workout.

"Bugs" is putting it mildly. Sega/Heastrong basically used the entire grindhouse presentation of Overkill as an excuse to release an unfinished game. Ever since Sammy bought Sega this has been a continuing trend of releasing games on a schedule instead of when they're ready and I'd really like it to stop. But still I don't want the game to fail (it's got humor, charm and great music, why'd it have to come in this package?) I just don't think Sega should be proud about what it published.

Monster Hunter G has a pretty good chance to improve things for at least a few weeks, but we all know how infrequently a single game can foster significant change. Wii Sports Resort also seems like it could be a new evergreen title, but ultimately, it will likely sell to existing users. I see an opportunity for them to include sports and sports resort with new systems though. Possibly on the same disk. Possibly a SMB/Duck Hunt arrangement.

Its a sign, along with the 4% reduction in average retail price YOY, GH3 beating WT in the PS3 chart, and the return of Lego Star Wars for Wii, that we are indeed in a recession.

I don't see the Motion+ being the Wii saviour beyond the first weeks/months following its release, even with a big ad push. I do see the next Wii saviour coming from Nintendo though.

You're right. It's already quite a feat to be selling that much with a system that's already broken every sales record in Japan. I'm well aware that the DS is not in a bad position at all, don't worry. But... I don't know, who knows? Nintendo has proven time and again that they've been able to release that one piece of software that propels hardware sales to unprecedented levels. Be it Super Mario Brothers, Tetris, Wii Sports, Pokémon, Nintendogs, New Super Mario Bros., Brain Training, Mario Kart DS, Mario Kart Wii, Wii Sports or Wii Fit, Nintendo certainly has a certain know-how for those things.

I admit even I'm a little surprised that LBP wasn't even in PS3's top 10. I mean, I never expected it to take off like some people did but I figured word of mouth would have helped it a little more than that.

i thought Star Ocean has quite a following and a big brand name among jrpgs. so i expected it to do better than, well, what it apparently did. sad.

Can't say I'm to surprised about SO4 I think some people were turned off by the look of the characters and the game wasn't that good imo.

As do I but I think MadWorld will be a tough sell. I've showed it some people and the whole style kind of threw them off a bit. We'll see, but I'll expecting some relatively conservative numbers.
