Either way, I just don't see the cost/benefit. But I totally see why peeps are into it. Just not my thing. Air cooling is pretty amazing these days.
Well, to each their own. I still haven't even been able to be around when these things go in stock to even get one. However, I do plan on eventually getting 2 with the EK blocks. If it turns out that there is a larger gap than you initially presume with overclocking ability, would you perhaps change your stance on watercooling these cards? I just want to see a quad SLI benchmark on water.![]()

I agree in so much as my 670 on aftermarket air sits idle at about 22 - 23 average and 55 under load.
Water looks slick but low temps are not exclusive to it.

I found the best part is being able to avoid the 70C mark without paying a tax in noise.Exactly. I ran 3 different 4-way 680 setups and they all were fine temp-wise. Well, except EVGA's atrocious FTW+ cards which were iffy. But both reference and Classifieds did great in the 4-way air sandwich.
I just bought 2 of the 3 cards this guy is selling on e-bay.

He's not charging any markup, so grab the last one while it lasts.
*must....resist.....*
mkenyon told me I need a new rig first((((
I've been needing to hear this!

Sounds like a good plan.lol...well it's the new sk3tch. I'm going to downsize my build, I've decided. Moving my 3930k to my CM Storm 2 and going to sell off my 3820 and return the 3970x. Will play with 3 Titans and return one. Just not enough freakin' time.

I guess each person likes or dislikes different things. Until a about a year ago or so I agreed that Water as just a waste, but working with Mkenyon and getting a lot of guidence I took the "plunge" and yeah, I aint going back to air only unless there are not blocks for my GPU or CPU available. I am able to reach higher clocks (yes, even on the 690) than I did on air. I have to say it does look really neat when it is set up, but in the end for me it was more about keeping my card cool, avoiding that 70c downthrottle and in the end achieved a higher clock and never saw temps exceed 38c on my 690.
Well this is going to sound a little odd, but it seems that my Titan is running better than my 690 did on certain games. For example, Witcher 2 and those that know me know I been trying to get this fucking game at rock solid 60fps with Uber settings at 1080p, but even the 690 or before that my 680's in SLI could not handle it. Now, I am not saying that my Titan is delivering on my 60fps endeavor, I am seeing a bit better performance. In some areas where the 690 would drop to the low 30's or so, I am seeing the Titan in the same areas in the 40's or so. One thing I am noticing is that my particular Titan has not been throttling and I am NOT using K-Boost at the moment. I know in almost every bench mark the 690 out-classes the Titan in almost every test, but just finding it interesting that this is happening.

Some guy modified the bios on the Titan to allow it to go beyond the set TDP. No test results yet, but keeping an eye on it.
BTW...Are we going to use this thread for posting Benchmark and overclocking stuff of the Titan? I am doing some testing and am fining some interesting things about this card thus far. Good news is that I seem to have almost figured out the down-clocking and hwen it happens, but still testing.
I could certainly see it being a "feel" thing - I mean, that's the key to anything with gaming (not benchmarking) - how does it feel to you? Numbers don't matter. SLI is pretty awesome but perhaps it is skewing things a bit and you're noticing less jank with one card.
Almost wish we could get a new thread, to get a clean title etc. but I guess it's a bit overkill for one card![]()
You will pick up some wattage from not having a fan that draws power from the total 265w available. The higher you clock, the higher you run your fan to keep it cool. The overclock sucks up juice as does the increased speed of the fan. With a Waterblock you have no fan to draw power. Plus, there is nothing bad about running your card(s) cooler at the 32-40c range versus the 80c+ without a waterblock.
Lets be honest. Everything that me, Hawk, and Mystery just said is ex post facto rationalization. We just like to obsess over hardware. Watercooling stuff gives you more parts to obsess over between generations.

Been waiting ages for a friend to do some artwork. Otherwise, I'd put it up today.Almost wish we could get a new thread, to get a clean title etc. but I guess it's a bit overkill for one card![]()
FINALLY, I got 5760x1200 working with nVidia Surround. What an awful setup process.
Look at these results though![]()
Sure, I tried abload but they were too big (10MB). I'll checkout Minus.Hey, can you upload the original images (PNG!) to Minus so that they aren't compressed?
It's a good pairJust purchased a DELL ULTRASHARP U2713HM to go with a Titan as soon as they are in stock!
With the new beta driver and precision x, I'm getting throttling, but able to maintain higher clocks in Crysis 3 (Clock offset +135MHz, 0 mem clock, max power target, max overvolt, auto fan)
Titan 1: 1150MHz
Titan 2: 1163MHz
Titan 2 runs cooler thus able to maintain higher clock speed.
