NX is already pretty great.
It has "N" in there for "Nintendo"
It sounds like "next", which indicates a forward thinking design.
When read as "N cross", it highlights the hybrid nature of the system.

Most of all, it doesn't sound childish, convoluted or nonsensical.

Only a fool wouldn't realise that handheld hardware has limitations that console hardware of the same gen does not and would effectively mean cross-gen levels of fidelity.

Visual fidelity does matter. For some it might not, but calling it a "dumb as hell connotation" is bollocks.

And given how Breath of the Wild, which is a console game, is also getting released on the NX, one can assume it's beefy enough to handle console level experiences. From what we know, the thing's going to be quite a bit more powerful then the Wii U, which is a home console.

Also, if you like Japanese games, get used to that, since home console gaming is borderline dead in Japan. It's not like most Japanese developers have the budget to push the PS4 anyways, so the NX likely won't hold things back that much.

Yes, but released 4 1/2 years earlier with tech from far earlier than that.

I'm sure things will be fine and I'll love Nintendo games wherever they are. I simply resent the assertion that merging handheld and console games of the same gen is a positive development.

I have full trust in Nintendo to make extremely enjoyable games and for the NX hardware to be quite reasonably solid.

Keep in mind, Eurogamer's report that NX dev kits are using Tegra X1 (if NX ends up using the next gen Tegra "Parker" would be even better, but as for Tegra X1:



Tegra X1 maxes at 512 GFlops (normal single precison FP32)

This is, more than 2X stronger than Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U, not to mention having a modern architecture and feature set. Not to mention, its Nvidia, and Flops performance between them and AMD/Radeon are significantly different.

I think it is pretty cool that for the first time ever Nintendo (any platform manufacturer?) will bring out a portable machine that is more powerful than their previous home console. Though I guess the Sega Nomad was equal in power to the Genesis.
