Wow... This is amazing

I just burst out laughing. This is amazing.

A lot of people missed this but earlier in the thread there was talk of a barrage of tweets by Laura Kate Dale--a destructoid writer (or former destructoid writer)

She basically laid out in great detail what to expect tommorow based on her sources.

You can read it all on her Twitter here: https://twitter.com/LaurakBuzz

But in basic terms:

1. They will reveal the system's appearance

2. It's name and the concept, how it works and what makes it cool

3. They will show zelda. (she doesn't say there will be other games, and doesn't say there won't.)

There will be other information coming shortly thereafter, including a spec sheet (I think she said before the weekend)

She also said there were 3 devs that she knew of waiting for NX reveal to announce games for it very soon afterward. Maybe even the same day.

Anyone who knows of Laura should know she's not prone to shooting her mouth off without actually having reliable sources.

I'd put way more faith in this all coming to pass than any other predictions made on 'insider knowledge' any day of the week.

Spec sheet distribution is a surprise though! A very pleasent one mind, but I'd have thought that would be only available after a full blowout. Neat!

What if neither AMD, Nvidia (nor DMP) got the GPU contract.

What if it's Imagination Technologies' PowerVR, with the 'Wizard' Ray Tracing GPU tech? :P

Almost certainly not, but if by chance it is, remember I called it on the reveal day!

And remember this?

Eurogamer:

In Theory: Nintendo's next-gen hardware - and the strategy behind it

By Richard Leadbetter Published 10/01/2015

Around 18 months ago, during an informal chat with an extremely well-placed individual in the hardware manufacturing business, an interesting nugget of information dropped into the conversation - Nintendo was already accepting pitches from third parties on the hardware make-up of its successor for Wii U. Two names were mentioned: AMD and Imagination Technologies, creators of the PowerVR mobile graphics tech. With the lack of backing sources, that little aside never made it to print, but as Nintendo strives to bounce back from the Wii U sales disappointment, eyes inevitably turn towards future platforms.

What Nintendo is looking for in its next-gen hardware is a cheap, efficient architecture with in-built scalability, able to run comfortably in both handheld and console forms. We've mentioned Nvidia's enviable scalability, but there are plenty of other potential partners to choose from, kicking off with the two names mentioned in passing to us so long ago - Imagination Technologies and AMD. In the former, we see a UK company with some of the most advanced mobile GPU parts on the market - its eight-core PowerVR contribution to the iPad Air providing last-gen console-beating power in a tablet form factor. Its latest 6-series 'Rogue' architecture is a proven force on mobile, and based on the firm's whitepapers, the GPU should scale up to provide enough power to produce a generational leap beyond the Wii U.

Anyone think there'll be any really crazy announcements? Think about all the games we know are in development but that have no NX version confirmation that we don't know about. The reveal of the console could open up so much.

3 minutes eh..

-PS4 equivalent hardware
-tablet controller (works anywhere with wifi)
-Zelda BotW Launch title
-Mario mainline launch title
-Mario Kart 9
-Pokemon GO HARDER
-3rd party list
-Nintendo Now Network (dat online sys)
-March 17'
-$399

It's basically what the WII U should have been i.e. modern hardware, tablet controller can play games anywhere, modern online infrastructure, cheevos/tropheos, etc.

$399?! They'd be better off cutting their losses and scrapping the whole thing at this point than they would if they released it for $399.

Don't you teach a game design class or something? You could probably get away with showing it in class or something ahaha.
Actually I was just thinking why not project it on the big screen, that's a great idea, thanks. Part of the lecture is on console wars anyway. Doing my part as a Nintendo fanboy.

LET'S DO THIS

So excited!!
I just hope they make it clear what the console is. Make it clear if it's a real hybrid or not.
Also, just have Mario Maker built into the console.

Anyone think there'll be any really crazy announcements? Think about all the games we know are in development but that have no NX version confirmation that we don't know about. The reveal of the console could open up so much.

crazy for Nintendo's case would be getting more multiplatform titles on there like RDR 2, Mass Effect etc.

Isn't this near the RDR2 trailer time? Gaf isn't ready for today.

Man RDR2 is so getting announced for NX as well.

crazy for Nintendo's case would be getting more multiplatform titles on there like RDR 2, Mass Effect etc.

Yeah but they don't really care too much about this I don't think. Most of those sales are default to PC/PS4/X1. I do think that RDR2 being revealed tomorrow as well as NX is no coincidence, however.

The majority that are interested in those games haven't thought one bit about buying the next Nintendo console for them.

Wii U has been the biggest waste of money of any console I have ever owned. And Nintendo still seems perfectly willing to ripoff their fans. Not to mention the fact that the game I bought the Wii U for is now likely the inferior version.

So... they have a lot to prove to me. They better make some serious improvements with the NX.

What I expect:
- BotW being shown on TV
- Person takes NX with him on the train, continues playing NX
- Some other stuff
- NX put in dock
- New Date for more info

I know it won't be something they'd show today anyway, but I wonder if they'll cave and have some sort of trophy/achievement system implemented in the OS? I think it's essential since so many people would pick up a PS4/Xbone version of any multiplat that Nintendo could secure.

If this is just a title card saying "Yes we are launching something called NX next year please be excited" then GAF servers are going to go nuclear

It'll be a "this is what it looks like, this is how the gimmicks work, this is a game running on it (probably Zelda) and this is when we'll talk some more about it".

If we're lucky, we might get some kind of quick sizzle reel within the trailer itself.

So basically the Wii U all over again, right down to the dismal sales?

I wonder if they will keep the NX name.
We've been talking about it for more than a year so it just feels right for me.

Suddenly hearing a new name will be weird I guess.
I remember feeling this way after the Revolution became the Wii. Not to mention that the Wii was such a weird ass awful name.

Is supermetaldave still claiming superpowered amd machine? Can't wait to see what happens after today.

He still stands by his claim that it is an AMD powered console based off the fact AMD is holding a investor call later in the day after the NX Preview Trailer and also the fact that the Nintendo website is displaying "Home Gaming System" as the descriptive text with the time of the NX Preview. His speculation is all based off of openly available information, not him hunting for rumors or leaks from "industry sources".

I'm just glad this form factor argument (home console vs Hybrid-Handheld-Console) is about to end in a matter of hours.

Whelp. There it is boys and girls what we all have been waiting for. I bet you this is just gonna be a tease. But hey it's at least something better than nothing. Watch them bring out cranky kong and he drops the mic then leaves.

If they show that: it's at least partly portable, no detachable controllers, 720p screen and finally has a good account system I will die happy, but at this point I'll take anything that isn't exclusively a home console. Bring it ooooon

I guess its sarcasm, but RDR 2 won't get an NX version I suppose. I'd buy it, but considering Rockstar releases on Nintendo hardware... nah

But I need to see more games!! NX Software Direct next week???

Forget about the price. That will be public in January or February.

Just Woke up here in europe and i see this! Awesome!!!! Emily was right after all! i guess it'll be just an announcement of the name and perhaps shape of the console, inviting everybody to watch the reveal next week in a special NX direct...Guys the wait is over, no more speculation and rumors, and crazy threads...i already miss them actually

Wii u is one of the best value for money consoles I've ever purchased. AAA Games that are under the current "normal" price, a great library, free online and sensibly priced DLC. What more did you want?

OMG 8 hours from now I am off work. also that pic of Mario is super creepy. 3 minutes is a lot.

p.s. will it be backwards compatible with Wii U? hence the Zelda stuff. If so I could play Tropical Freeze on the go.

After today, the floodgates could literally be open.

I doubt we'll see a price yet, unless it's a bombshell one ($200-$250). It's a teaser, it should scare off as few people as possible.

It won't be a full spec sheet. It will just say Tegra, how much ram, screen size and possiby resolution. No flop talk.
