Big difference between Nakamura and previous Japanese stars in WWE, besides his immense charisma:

He's pretty clearly ~6'2", barely shorter than Okada who's 6'3"

I've met them both. They aren't 6'2 or 6'3.

Or maybe we believe gaffers are smart enough to follow basic courtesy rules:

Neogaf Member Etiquette and New Thread Rules

Avoid putting spoilers in thread titles
If you are making a thread, consider for a moment that some people might want to avoid knowing certain things about a game/movie/TV show/whatever. As such, being a little more vague is better than being inconsiderate.

It is a live event. Is anyone spoiler tagging the Super Bowl or the Academy Awards?

And nice spoilers in the title, not everyone watching TV shows live as it airs

You may want to sit down for this, professional wrestling is fake, it's a scripted TV show not a sporting event like the Super Bowl

The Academy is scripted. No one spoiler tags that. And it is a live event, doesn't matter if it is "scripted" or not. Stay off the internet if it matters that much to you.

We have a Wrestling Off-Topic Community but for some reason OT gets a thread even when minor happen in the wrestling world like a birthday for former wrestlers. Surely this thread means we can have threads in OT every time a (former) NXT champ gets called up?

It's Nakamura. This isn't just some guy.

Are the people complaining PMing a mod about this thread if they don't like it this much?

So you just gon get petty because someone got hype about Nak and posted in OT?

Lol

Nakamura isn't a minor thing.

Also, wrestling isn't the only thing that gets a large amount of OTs

We're barely starting the 4th page of the topic with half of the posts being about spoiler uses. That's saying pretty much all about it. I personally like Nak (and regret to have his debut spoiled) but 99% of GAF don't know who he is and/or don't give à fuck. That's pretty much the definition of a non event.Wrasslegaf OT was largely enough.

Don't get me wrong Nakamura is in my top 3 fav. wrestlers but in OT he is just some guy. All full time wrestlers in WWE now are just some girls/guys. Also he doesn't even wrestle, that's barely a debut. These kinds of threads feel like when WWE talk about #1 trending on Twitter and stuff like that.

Nakamura potentially getting another match with AJ Styles (depending on how the "Superstar Shakeup shakes out"): great.

Nakamura potentially feuding with the likes of Ziggler and Ambrose: please no.

You're comparing a soap opera to an award show?

Again it's a fixed fake story driven production

Yes he is, an Indie Japanese wrestler is not exactly mainstream news

There was a thread about Undertaker retiring less than 12 hours after WM was done. Are you saying that should have been spoiler tagged too?

Yeah, it should have. It basically gave away the ending of the match and a lot of people, especially in other countries would would have had to wait until the next day, won't have seen it live.

A thread saying Undertaker retires doesn't necessarily spoil anything that happens at WrestleMania though. A more apt equivalent would be a thread named UNDERTAKER RETIRES FOLLOWING LOSS TO ROMAN REIGNS

WWE is a TV show. Spoiling the results of Smackdown.After.Wrestlemania is as bad as spoiling the premier of any other tv show. Stop being obtuse.

goddammit.

Me and gf were going to watch SDL tonight.

Oh well, she'll like that.... If she's managed to avoid this spoiler.

It's a live tv show, shit was on YouTube trending after WWE uploaded a video of the entrance.
We can't really change whether or not it's visible on YouTube, but we can reasonably expect users here to have the courtesy to leave it a while before making a thread which will spoil something.

Nobody has talked about using spoiler tags in the topic. We're just asking to be smart and respectful on the title people choose, they were ways to have a discussion about Nakamura debut (by keeping it in WrassleGAF or by being smart with the chosen title) AND keep it a surprise for the others. Nobody is saying it's the end of the world to have been speen spoiled here, just I would have liked to discover it by myself. Don't know what is that hard to understand.

But YouTube bro. YouTube.

I don't go on youtube or twitter before watching the shows because I know the risk of being spoiled is too big. A lot of people are doing like me.

I 100% agree with you. Using YouTube as an excuse to spoil Smackdown After Mania is bullshit.

Probably. He was very interested in getting Kenta Kobashi in 1998 too.
Never knew that
Would an alternate title like "big debut on Smackdown Live" been that big of a deal?

It shouldn't be a big deal period because anyone with half a brain could figure out that he was gonna be on Smackdown

Is it a live event in Television? Are you unable to watch it? Do you care about being spoiled? Stay off the internet till you can watch it. Mute keywords on Twitter.

Twitter, YouTube etc. I understand. But it's more reasonable to suggest that people don't namedrop big surprises in thread titles on Gaf, than those who don't live on the east coast "stay off the internet".
