NYT now has the email to Donald Trump Jr. offering Russian aid to "incriminate"

He tweeted it out himself, and it explicitly says "Russian government attorney" and Russian and its government's support for Mr. Trump"

Where is the chess? This isn't even tic tac toe. How nice of him to "come clean" after the evidence is already out. I still don't think he understands what he's done wrong here.

How are they all this stupid...

“This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump.”

That sentence screams glaringly fake to me. Surely no one could have actually written that? The letter might as well say "we are please to engage in treason which your father has personally agreed to and also he hates America and Jesus." It just doesn't sound real.

It doesn't matter. Nothing fucking matters. These assholes could release video footage of themselves murdering babies and nothing would happen. They're above the law, not because of the offices they hold, but because no one is going to do anything. What could we do? Annoy a Congressman, maybe?

Bob Mueller.

Wow he's stupid. That chain even has the words "Russian government lawyer". Like, what's going through his head right now?

I swear every one of these threads begins with a chorus of "oh shit", "here we go", "this is it" etc.

It's never fucking it.

It just goes on and on and on.

Yeah, I agree.

Sure, he's a complete idiot and so is the rest of the GOP/ White House/ Congress/ etc. But I can't think of anything severe that will be done.

That said, I will gladly eat any and all crow if something of substance does come from this.

I guess the next evolution of the story is to find out what that information is, and how it was obtained.

While this is terrible on Trump Jr's part, it would really be a nail in the coffin if Don Jr knew it was some sort of illegally obtained information.

If you're going to take down the most powerful man in the world, you can't do it solely based on the people around him. You build the case, make the middle-men flip, get access to more evidence. Frankly, the process is moving like lightening.

You mean like a seperate investigation spearheaded by a fucking all-star team of Avenger-tier prosecutors? Something like that?

People who are expecting things to happen quickly are going to be disappointed every single time these stories break.

Years ago, as part of my job as a lawyer, I had to review thousands of emails that may or may not have been relevant to a lawsuit. Thousands - gmail, work accounts, etc. Let's just say that you would be FLOORED at what people put into emails.

FLOORED

I just kept saying to myself, "how can people be so dumb to put this into an email?"

I'm sorry but this seems too good to be true. That email has so many incriminating factors that it's almost as if someone faked it. I keep thinking back to that Maddow piece how fake intel was being shopped around by Trump supporters to delegitimize the media.

It just goes on and on and on.

June 17, 1972: "White House Plumbers" arrested at 2:30 a.m. in the process of burglarizing and planting surveillance bugs in the Democratic National Committee offices at the Watergate Building Complex.

August 9, 1974: Nixon resigns from office. Gerald Ford becomes president.

Settle down.

The Millennial demand for instant gratification strikes again.

I don't really think that's it.

But rather,

A) We have an administration wreaking havoc on our government and our standing in the world.
B) We have a major opposition working to lie and obfuscate on behalf of the Trump administration. The more time that goes by, the easier they have to mount a defense, destroy evidence, and convince the swayable public that nothing is there.

Donald Trump Jr. is the dumbest dude in the family, and that's saying a lot. He's posting the emails on his own Twitter feed.

Eric and Tiffany aint looking to bad now......

How dumb could these people be? It baffles me how they couldn't even conspire right. Everything they do is so explicitly blatant and none of the "smarter guys" in the room bothered to stop him either.

Except for the part where Don Jr. *himself* jumped on twitter to announce "yep those are mine, here are my copies too"

Yeah, that'd be nice. I prefer my crow with Sazon.

Time until Trump admin claims Trump Jr didn't know what he was doing was illegal, he's not a politician so he doesn't know this stuff..

So, looking for details so I am asking again:

Does anyone know-

1. The actual statute that looks to have been violated here. Someone said it was said on NPR.

2. Who were the people present at the meeting (last I heard it was Manafort, Kushner and of course Don Jr., anyone else added since then? I heard Priebus was spotted entering the building the same day)

3. Can mere knowledge of the meeting be enough to loop the President in to the statute in 1 via conspiracy (I'm betting yes, but I don't know how it works).

This one feels a bit bigger than the previous ones. Ooer.

It'd probably do you a huge favor to stop individually trying to assess these stories and instead look at them all collectively. These are earth-shattering revelations in this case.
