Maybe. Or maybe they have a better understanding of what's actually illegal and what isn't. IANAL but I would bet that for this new info to be helpful, it would have to be proven that DT Jr knew for a fact that the dirt on Hilary was illegally obtained. Good luck with that.

But hell, maybe King Cheetoh will be impeached by Labor Day.

It actually doesn't matter how the information was obtained or whether they used it. Soliciting help in an election from foreign entities is a violation of campaign finance laws all on its own.

I'm sorry but this seems too good to be true. That email has so many incriminating factors that it's almost as if someone faked it. I keep thinking back to that Maddow piece how fake intel was being shopped around by Trump supporters to delegitimize the media.
In which case, there's now proof of Don Jr fabricating stories... which isn't nearly as bad but there's no way nothing comes of this.

I hope there's a mountain of ethics and accountability laws passed when these dopes vacate. It shouldn't take this long to sink a president as he's ruining the Earth.

It's all coming together, and it's just too perfect.

Can't wait to read the full debriefing and context for all of this (ALL of it - whacky Russian celebs, incompetent family, lawyers lawyering for lawyers....). Following along just on a day to day basis has been a taxing (and so stressful) experience.

It'd probably do you a huge favor to stop individually trying to assess these stories and instead look at them all collectively. These are earth-shattering revelations in this case.

Given US and Russia's history I hope this isn't literal

if evidence of trump finding out about this and agreeing to it comes out (or even exists) which you know he did, trump actually has a good chance of being fucking toast

Do people who keep posting "nothing will come of this" not realize just how historic all of this is?

Each story alone, without context may sound boring. But holy shit at the "nothing" people. The only nothing about it is that there is nothing in American history to compare it to. Watergate didn't involve a foreign government working with a political party to secure victory.

So basically Don Jr. is rubbing these emails in our faces and laughing while our government will continue to do nothing about it? Gotcha. Looks like business as usual.

This whole thing is like Burn After Reading. Just rampant stupidity.

The US government is not prepared to deal with this level of corruption and incompetence. The damn electoral college was created to prevent a corrupt populist from taking over but even that failed.

Quoting one of my favourite political analysts:

So instead of hysterically running in the opposite direction of something that would be obviously radioactive and politically lethal if it came to light (conspiracy with a rival government during a presidential campaign, no less), he said yes, he wanted to meet and invited two more people to the campaign. Prolly through e-mail, too, because everything points towards the man being that stupid.

The Wire said it better:

This is something we should bare in mind. The other side could be getting played also.

I'm confused. What does Jr have to gain by posting them himself? He's probably incriminating himself and absolutely exposing federal crimes by his bro-in-law.
It shows that he has nothing to hide in terms of that particular meeting. In other words they're now willing to admit that they talked to some Russians about possible information on Clinton. Information that may or may not have been true or important.

But that doesn't mean that they were involved in the DNC hacking and the phishing of Podesta's email.

In any case, I'm more worried about the leak source than this. This is important but by itself and so far it means very little.

The GOP doesn't want to do anything.

But that won't matter in the end. They are just stalling to get more shit agendas in.

They either just straight up have no patience or don't want anything to come of these things.

“This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump.”

That sentence screams glaringly fake to me. Surely no one could have actually written that? The letter might as well say "we are please to engage in treason which your father has personally agreed to and also he hates America and Jesus." It just doesn't sound real.

At this point I'm half-expecting this to be a long con, White House advisers trying to sink their presidency always stank. Especially since Junior posted these emails on Twitter.

EDIT: I guess trying to get ahead of if makes sense, in some way? Uhhh

This whole thing is so fucking odd

So, Don Jr. goes to jail.

-Before he even exits the courthouse, President Donald pardons him.

Donald Trump himself needs to be ousted before any of his cronies goes to jail for this shit.

Otherwise, he'll just pardon everyone.

The markets have gone south.

The Trump markets are all about possible massive profits in the next couple of years due to idiotic tax cuts that will only damage our economy further down the road.

A massive correction wouldn't be a bad thing if it brings the markets back in line with realistic sustainable growth, which is going to be hard enough in the face of automation.

Trump Jr must be taking marching orders to throw himself under the bus. It seems like this is all building up to a narrative that "if there was collusion, it was just this idiot doing it, and look at what an idiot he is. Case closed."

Granted, this is not going to take heat off Trump himself, even if they think it might.

I think there is an in fight going on between Kusher and Jr..
Kusher is smart enough that he his trying to deflect on Jr.
Jr is not so smart and think this release will give him leverage of some sort. Also thinks daddy' s pardon will save him.
