I don't know where it originated from but the story is that Jr. was meeting with her because she supposedly had info on Clinton or the DNC accepting funds from Russians.

NeoGAF is quickly becoming unreadable with all the fake tweets. The mods need to start doing something about it. Drive-by fake tweets shouldn't be allowed in news event topics. Yes some are pretty obvious that they're fake, but not every GAF member or lurker are able to make the distinction and it turns NeoGAF into a hub for fake liberal news. Pretty ironic considering how much we mock people on the right for peddling & spreading false information.

The longer Trump stays in office, the closer he gets to gaining the power to basically destroy their industry and replace it with a state-run propaganda machine, so I imagine they'll be relieved even if it means the ratings will drop back to pre-insanity levels.

This entire situation essentially becomes a "test case" as to whether the solicitation of this information from a foreign actor meets the requirements of being an illegal solicitation of a "thing of value" under the FEC regulations.

Some people are just trying to get paid. People tune in to CNN to see the WWE-style face/heel shouting matches, which they can't get as much on Fox or MSNBC.
Assange also said that it would have been safer and less legally compromising if Junior had let Wikileaks release the emails anonymously. I can only imagine the level of redaction, altering, and the loss of credibility had Assange gotten their hands on them first. And yeah, they probably couldn't have been used in court. Asshole.
Edit: And I totally agree that the fake tweets should be bannable without a warning. Link should be mandatory with all screenshots.
Personally, that one would shock me. I don't think it happens.

How did Assange know that the emails existed unless he had some sort of prior knowledge that they might? You don't call someone up out of the blue and say 'time to hand over those incriminating emails to me so I can leak them anonymously on your behalf', and Trump Jr's actions seem to imply that he wasn't planning to go to Assange with it. I don't understand what Assange's role is here.
