Obsidian nuked the Community section for Avowed on Steam

For me, I will not buy avowed. I dont like any game that has any push and force narrative of twisted gender ideology( misuse of pronoun crap) That is my choice and moral decision. I dont care if it sells allot or get great reviews. Buy it if you want it. And as for kingdom come 2 Im having second thoughts. I might rather buy Dynasty warriors origin. But still thinking about it.

Steam community hub is an absolute cesspool. I'm all for free speech, but some of the forums are filled with the dregs of society. Good riddance
Steam community forums are absolutely fantastic. Got a question about some random super niche game? You'll always find some fellow addict there that will help you.

On controversial games you won't find a funnier place. Extremely creative trolling topics competing for Steam points that are full of users from all over the world throwing google translated insults at each other. What's not to like?

I'll sorely miss Steam community forums when they eventually get sanitized.

Going as well as you'd imagine.
I also learned a new word, Cacophobia, and it's funny in this context.

Cancelled my Gamepass Ultimate, I won't help fund any of this.

Game pass is just a group buy lootbox where the games your money goes to are scored against Microsoft’s DEI checklist, err “product inclusion framework”.

Far better to support studios and games you like by buying their games directly

Sounds like a delay and they prolly made some mistakes on the steam dev app.
They should delay it to April or May, they're looking like much quieter months and this game needs that to get noticed. February is still packed - people will be playing KCD2 for weeks, Civilization 7, Yakuza and Monster Hunter are also getting released. And in March you have the AC behemoth and Atomfall.

I don't remember any well known big studio ever doing this, we need these childish, arrogant idiotic people out of gaming asap, i bet the art director was involved, it's ridiculous!.

It's back so it wasn't for long!

yeah.... grifters and haters are going insane nowadays. I hate this crap.
If at least goo game received so much attention too. But no. It's quiet about good stuff after release and rather loud about almost everything pre release
Maybe there was a tiny bit of worry but It looked semi legit from day1. I was just not very excited because it was 1st person but I bought it on steam and finished nonetheless to prove myself wrong

i can't tell if this is sarcasm or real.

Edit: Ok yes, cacophobia seems to be a real thing. Sheesh. Now it will get used to take the piss all over.

with what? Both sides of the woke and non woke coin are fucking idiots i swear. Gimme back my old gaming where games were all about having fun and not political talk. Even this forum turned into a shitshow just the opposite spectrum of the retardera side

It's become pretty rampant. Sucks to see the gaming forum I've been on for damn near 20 years turn into threads about what's "woke". I don't even post much but jesus christ its exhausting to read.

A modernized GameFaqs forum on steroids (any and all titles have their own board)!

The same concept worked great for IMDB before they decided they didn't want to spend the few bucks a month to keep the servers going. I still miss those boards.
Weird why they canned it.

I almost never used the forum but I did a few times asking for help identifying some old TV ads and TV shows I forgot. Success. It seemed like a chill forum the times I used it. I even remember one question where I saw a show and racked by brain looking at episode guides of Outer Limits, Amazing Stories, etc... Couldnt find it. Then someone mentioned that episode came from an Alfred Hitchcock 80s series. Thanks bud.

Googling it, one of the points was there was too much trolling and they couldnt keep up moderating. And then the forum was supposedly out of date technologically, and other mediums were gaining popularity. So add it up and they decided to bail.

No shit. I remember like a few days or so before release the narrative on GAF was because Indy had such a short window between review embargo and release, it meant the game was a rushed turd full of bugs and MS was desperate to release in the 2024 window. That take aged like the Concord season pass.

"Mr. Spencer, I've got bad news. We're $19.99 short for that Avowed deal."
I think I've spent the equivalent of a small car's worth on Xbox, that commitment and fandom ended yesterday, I'm out of the ecosystem. I also won't ever recommend Xbox, or Playstation for that matter, to any of the multitude of financially active parents and young professionals I interact with who always seek my opinion on games, who knows how much would be lost to those interactions alone over a 5-10 year span going forward. See ya.

EDIT: If you allow and in some cases even encourage this much negativity and strife to grow in your spheres of creativity, in YOUR industry, you're only going to end up surrounded by negative people, the greedy, and liars, how is that a happy environment to enjoy the creativity of gaming? It takes something beautiful and twists it until nobody looking for healthy escapism even wants it (Rightfully so, good for them!). There's no humility and grace, I think because of this Nintendo is on the most powerful footing it's ever been at this moment and will pulverize these forces of petty darkness this year. Xbox and PlayStation's conduct are a beautiful example how things, very simple but very powerful things, like humility and grace can't be paid for, you can throw all the money in the world at it, its simply not bought, it's earned.

If you want to boycott every single game on the planet which has a gay character in it, you're welcome to do so.

My problem is with morons who literally say that every game that has a gay character - even if it's an NPC you meet - is woke. No matter how well written that character is. No matter how well they fit in the narrative and the lore. They are becoming the very thing the woketards claimed we all were.
Why do you think the character in question is gay then?

It’s polygons, a 3D model, it’s not a real person, and someone at the studio adds a story to the character, and choose to state that he’s gay.

Why?

Everything is done for a reason, it’s not nature choosing a different path, a 3D object don’t turn gay during the creation, it’s 100% deliberate, a developer choice.

I’d say it’s either about catering to a lbtq crowd, for whatever reason, or a personal reason to use the medium as a platform to wake the world up that lbtq people exist.
Isn’t that the definition of woke?

Anyhow, as long as they don’t preach like Veilguard it should be fine. Devs just need to realize that they can’t feed a progressive western world view to a world wide audience and expect everyone to gladly eat it up. I don’t see any of that in real life, I see it in movies and games. So if I was a dev I would have a progressive slider in the settings menu. Then people could choose for themselves if they want to turn it all off or crank it up to 11.

Who knows? The protagonist of my webcomic was a lesbian. I made her a female because I wanted the lead character to begin as non-threatening as possible - a young girl - and end up becoming the most powerful sorceress on the planet by the end of the series. I made her gay because I wanted her to be secretly in love with her female best friend and her best friend being as oblivious to it as possible because she would never imagine her bestie to be sexually attracted to her. There was no LGBTQ virtue signaling involved, no agenda. Being anti-woke doesn't mean you don't want to see a single gay person in media, ever.

But this is what woke culture did. It made us so averse to LGBTQ representation that people consider games woke simply for having a gay NPC. It's like we went to fight at Vietnam, and now we are back home and the second we see an Asian, we get PTSD panic attacks.

It's fucking sad.

Xbox seems strapped for money. If they had so much money to throw around hellblade woulda been a longer more substantial game, with actual gameplay improvements
But Obsidian didn't make Hellblade. I don't get where Hellblade got into the mix all of a sudden. Ninja Theory had quite a lot of time and money and ended up putting out Hellblade 2. I think that's more the fault of Ninja Theory than Microsoft or Obsidian.

I wouldn't be suprised of closing it if its full of anti-woke complaining and trolling from people who aren't even going to buy the game.
