"I have to know. Why do you never use the actual quote feature? Just to see if the person is actually reading the thread versus scanning for responses?"

Sounds plausible.

Oculus store is indeed awful. I was perusing it since my headset is still about a week away and man, it's like they haven't seen any semi-decent web software stores at all.

- No Organization whatsoever. There are no filtering options, type, genre or pretty much anything. Not even sort on price. I don't think I even saw a search option!
- There is no wishlist. Seriously, even PSN and eShop have that.
- Obviously there are no refund functions.
- There are no ratings or reviews.
- Game/Software description is barebones.

I am sure Facebook could spare couple web developers for a few months to fix up this shit show but I guess they couldn't be bothered.

Just wanted to say for anybody on the fence, do it. I've had it for 3 days now and my first thought in the AM is still "holy shit I have VR". Robo Recall alone is worth the price imo, this shit is INCREDIBLE. Super Hot is amazing too, hell even Lucky's Tale is pretty mind-blowing.

Words can't even describe how excited I am about VR now, and I was kinda meh on it before. I've played a bit of PSVR, and I thought it was good but not something I'd drop 400 on.

Touch controllers change everything, 400 dollars for this is nuts.

Is there a decent RPG for VR? I heard Chronos and Mage's Tale but both seem a bit meh from description/reviews. There are couple on Steam as well but all seem underwhleming.

It's even worse trying to navigate the store in the headset.

Well, I bit the bullet on this and a 1080ti to use it with.

I haven't really got much room to play in though, so hopefully I can get some good games that don't need me to jump around like a lunatic !

The web store is worse than the Oculus client (which you'll be installing to use your Rift at all).

There's a basic search (only by name, no filtering options)

There are refunds. They're accessed via the purchase history. Something to note, is that if you request a refund, the game/app will become inaccessible immediately whilst the refund is processed.

There are also reviews/ratings.

Overall, it's still pretty awful though, yea. And yes, don't even bother trying to browse the store through the headset.

Bought one yesterday with an extra sensor. I was so hyped at launch for VR but never bought one because of the price but 449 euro seems like an awesome deal!

How good is Vanishing Realms with the Touch?
The Adventure Pack on the Oculus store seems nice. How good is The Climb?
Is Wilson's Heart any good? I'm going to buy Superhot VR anyway so if it's any good I might just buy the Action Pack.

It is but oculus store has been around for a little over a year and the company just a few years. A store like steam has been around for like 15 years and they didn't even get refunds or reviews until a decade after existence. Most of the other features mentioned also came many years later. It'll take some time but I'm sure it will get there. Creating the first store in vr and making it functional and great will take time. Steam has spoiled us.

Ah ok... I didn't realise that.

Good thing it was available for me though, because Arizona Sunshine straight up didn't work at all (loaded into a permanent blank screen).

Note Arizona Sunshine works optimally with 32GB of RAM. At least last time I played 2 weeks ago it takes several minutes to load off a SSD into 16GB. Anecdotal, but multiple reports from people that this holds true.

For us it had a blue screen and wouldn't start.

What the fuck? So that's why it takes forever to load.

32GB?!?

Of memory??

Noooooo. You sure you're not talking about the unfinished alpha that leaked?

It's not official but I've heard from multiple people with 32GB that it loads real quick on their system, and I know on my optimal 16GB system it will take 90-120+ seconds to load...

Anyone? I'm wondering the same

I like Vanishing Realms a lot, but it's just a few hours long. Worth it at a discounted price, I'd say. Apparently there will be more chapters (separate game)...

There was a patch released in the past week that addressed loading problems. After the initial credit scene the game takes less than 5 seconds to get from config to trailer scene. And another 5 seconds to get to selected game. I only have 16GB of RAM and SSD.

Vanishing Realms is cool but Mage's Tale has raised the bar and imo pretty much the best and most complete game in that genre.

Chronos isn’t really an RPG - I’ve heard it’s somewhat similar to Dark Souls, but I never played Dark Souls. It’s got hack-and-slash combat, very little dialogue, doesn’t really go out of its way to tell the story. I love the game, it’s one of my favorite Rift games, but it’s not an RPG.

I finished Vanishing Realms yesterday evening, and it is one of my favourite VR experiences so far. The combat is very satisfying - blocking hits and smashing enemies in the face with a sword / hammer just feels great and the environments are very immersive. After an intense miniboss fight I lit a camp fire, sat down on the ground and just relaxed for 5 minutes mulling on the journey so far. It felt like being an actual adventurer, and it's the kind of feeling you can only get in VR.

Also, mining ore feels REALLY good. Looking forward to more content being released.

Yea, I'd personally class that as not working. Are they taking the piss? That may have been what it was as I don't sit watching blank screens for multiple minutes assuming it's actually going to work eventually.

I'm starting to see a very annoying theme in VR games.
Superhot VR for example, it tells me to pick up the gun in front of me, but it's like a foot outside my play area. I literally cannot pick it up because it's behind a wall. And there's no teleport or turn camera buttons either, I'm just screwed.
And another thing, I'm sick of games putting things behind me and offering no way to turn the camera. I lose tracking if I turn around, so I can't shoot/pick up/whatever anything that's behind me.
It feels like half the games I played don't actually work because they just don't care about my room space or my tracking.

Reset your position. Oculus home button, reset. Unless you're in steamvr in which case you need to redo room set-up.

Yeah, the free firearms in Superhot VR are placed inches in front of your center position. I was standing too far forward last night and it was in my belly.

I played an hour of Rec Room and had a pretty good time goofing off with the random people I encountered.

I also accidentally knocked one of the touch controllers into a wall, which left a white mark that I can't seem to get rid of.

Ha! Not laughing at you, your comment just made me realize that the same thing is definitely going to happen to my clumsy ass

All this talk about memory requirements has me a tad worried.

I bought the bundle yesterday but it won't arrive until next week. I have a 1070 with an i5 3570k and 8gb DDR3 1600mhz.

I'm pretty sure I can OC the CPU to cover the deficit, but the memory may be a bit weak these days? Already feeling it in games like FH3. I could get 16gb 2400mhz for around £70, would that be a worthwhile investment? Looking at a full CPU, mobo etc upgrade in a year or so.

The memory problem in question only relates to loading times in Arizona Sunshine. Arizona sunshine will run fine once it gets in, but it takes forever at 16 GB(Regardless of clockspeed, 3200 mhz ddr4 here). Has nothing to do with your CPU.

Horror games? I'm kinda done with shooters as I have a bunch atm.

You can try the Organ Quarter pre-alpha for free.

Does anyone know how supersampling works in games which also offer supersampling? The climb, for instance, has its own supersampling setting. Will I get 1.5 * 1.5 if I run both oculus tray tool (or debug) or will one override the other?

All this talk of whacking walls is making me nervous for my wall mounted TV. :|

The guardian system is very obvious and clear if you ask me. If you want to be on the safe side, make sure you draw the line 15-30 cm (1 foot) away from any walls/objects.

Edit: You can also use a tool like GuardianBoundaryEditor to draw your guardian "walls" into different shapes. I've marked where my rather low hanging (about 2 m) ceiling lamp is, for instance, so I don't try to do some sick catches in Echo Arena in that area.
