Totally worked for Kingdom Come. Or Skyrim.

Lets get this chart out in there again. What are factors influencing decisions to purchase games? (Its a 2015 chart but still so relevant).

As my older post on this said when we were talking about Cyberpunk:
Its literally a very vague blip on the radar as the biggest factors are Story/Premise, Price and Word of Mouth.

The last one is especially interesting, as it begs the question: Will people who are this outraged on the web, tell others about it in real life (Say, family, friends, randoms)? - I am sure a few will, but most folks likely won't know what the issue is about, won't know what (in this case) Cyberpunk is about, and i am sure a group of people also does not really care what friend/cousin/random Adam has to say about this game (For the aforementioned reasons).

Conclusion: All this outrage, all these threats on boycotting a game/not buying a game/saying you won't buy a game because of reason X is just hollow in nature for the most part. Those 3% will literally be nothing for any big game and game developer to worry about. It will just be seen as collateral damage.

And that's all it really is.

But its cute that ERA thinks they make a difference. Except they don't. They have pure delusions of grandeur that they think their forum will make such a difference in terms of sales. It won't. Ultimately, people want to play epic games and all these controversial titles were epic titles, plain and simple.

If ERA actually wants to use what influence they have, they should dedicate it to stuff like Hatred or Agony, games that are clearly out there to tick off the lowest common denominator in quality.

I am actually kinda at odds as to why they haven't gone after GTA V, one of the biggest game sellers of all time, yet. I mean, the game allows you to club anyone to death and you can even use hookers and what not. Definitely not safe space friendly, so how come the game sold so much?

The logic is that somehow anyone who questioned this insanely questionable initial story was 'victim blaming" so they deserved their bans. The fact that they were right all along doesn't change the fact that they were blaming the victim who isn't actually a victim of anything.

Resetera's Catherine thing reminds me of that 4chan pasta:

But it slowly dawns on us that in the living room, with placid expressions on their faces, they're talking about the woman's transvestite son's genitals.

Despite the obvious subtext and the producers' hope to normalize this horror, the average person is totally disgusted. Nevertheless, the viewer is fascinated. We're drawn further into this. The sheer naked horror of what they're saying, the blase quality with which they're saying it, it creates this brutal paradox that almost rapes the viewer's basic sense of what is decent.

We've received a request to have this game banned and added to the prohibited games list. The team has discussed this, and our conclusion is that banning the game would inadvertently serve to sweep this issue under the rug, when it should really be brought to light and exposed.

However, please keep in mind that the contents described here are so blatantly offensive that defense of them, or any dismissal of relevant criticism, will be met with bans.

A staff message has also been added to the OT with clearly outlined rules and expectations of behavior.

Yeah I'm pretty careful about what topics I post in. 100% I'll get permad for saying my thoughts on certain topics.

Funny thing is I think I have way further left-wing views than most of them fiscally speaking, just not socially.
 

WTH does the mod team just basically throw these up in every thread now so no one can actually discuss anything that isn't pre approved?

They should seriously just have all posts get edited through mods going forward and then they can just do what they want which is control what ever is posted there.

Heh, that's exactly what happened to me. I didn't side with Jessica Price during her whole "I was a bitch and got fired for it, woe is me" fiasco and ended up disagreeing with one of the "little helpers" as they're commonly known, so I was banned and labeled a misogynist and apparently had a history of arguing in bad faith. Oh well.

You know, it's funny, the last couple of times I've tried to Google "Trump wrong gif", it gives me a bunch of unrelated results. Whereas usually that gif or similar were all over the search results for the last couple of years.

I seriously think Google is trying to obscure it in order to lessen its usage. That's how pathetic they have become.

No idea. Try "trump wrong gif". For me that only brings up one relevant gif and it's not the original one I used to use and which used to be in abundance.

EDIT: Hang on. I just tried it and it's back. I swear to fuck like 2-4 weeks ago (and a few weeks before that) it brought up 1 solitary gif and not even the right one. I even tried a bajillion different word combinations.

Maybe they course-corrected?

It is really weird that they are attacking a game that was made almost 10 years ago now and if you look back at the OT here people were loving that very same game!

I know there are additional scenes and whatnot but it wasn't an issue before but it is now?

The game doesn't always represent the views of the Director.

Outrage culture is getting out of hand.

Even if we ignore the content in the thread completely...if I don't like something I don't buy it and move on.

These people will go through the guys life history, come up with a ten page long rant and then spend the next few weeks of their life organizing some lame Twitter war. To me that is psychotic and a waste of time. Just don't buy the game!
