How do they (era) respond to devout Christians who are openly gay and but are married to a woman and have children?
What if in terms of social issues this person is very conservative, but in terms of policy in government he is more liberal? Very anti-war no matter the circumstances. Anti-guns. Pro-immigration. Wants universal healthcare in the states. Wants affordable or free education. Wants more taxes for the upper class and lower taxes for the middle class.
One of my friends is like this. He is generally more left than right when it comes to politics and voted for Hillary. Votes Democrat every time. His wife is, by his words, the only female he has been attracted to.
He says it has been a struggle his whole life, being in the closet. But once he started coming out to people in his life, he feels more free. He sees his sexuality as an obstacle in his life that he must repress. Last time I checked, he was strongly against anyone except biological boys in Boy Scouts. He also didn't support gay marriage, but as a gay man himself sympathizes with them.
He is very sensitive to violence, sex in film and TV, hates objectifying women, and doesn't condone watching porn. He also doesn't approve of using profanity. Sometimes he tells me to watch my language if I let an f word slip. If he were on resetera he'd probably be asking people to tone it down on all the swearing.
How would resetera respond to someone expressing those views?
If he was a devout Muslim expressing these views would they be any different towards him?

Activist groups are like this for a reason. If you have people undermining the message then eventually it gets eroded and you end up with a bunch of centrists. There has to be some level of "purity" and full commitment to the underlying goals.

And every thread is filled with new terms or acronyms I've never heard of. It's like words are being discarded every week because they suddenly become derogatory in their eyes.
I remember that "Is there room for conservatives here?" and many replied with "No they aren't welcome" - that was the beginning of my realization I was in the wrong place. Neogaf was my main discussion forum since the gaming-age era(my prior account was Grahf1 and I used to get in heated debates about final fantasy.) People got triggered at me for bashing FFX and FFXI.

Resetera is not a single person, so hard to say. Also, the matter is more how to react to specific positions rather than people. E.g. I would not expect many people on Resetera to be happy about his stance on gay marriage or boy scouts, but his views on pornopgraphy, immigration and guns would probably be compatible with the main stream. When it comes to fiscal policies, I do not know where the majority on Resetera stands. With the huge hate they express towards Sanders I would expect the majority to be slightly right leaning from the describes positions of your friend on Resetera. Either way, if he wants to keep membership, he would be well advised not to talk about homosexuality on the site.

I can only speak for myself, but Bernie to is too old and too "out there" for alot of people. His brutal honesty and experience is better served in Congress than in the White House in my opinion. People also think that he would be popular enough to possibly take away votes and thunder from other more deserving candidates.
I think he is too old for sure, but I do disagree on the "out there" part. We need someone younger than Bernie, but who still has his political energy and outlook.

If I remember right....When the Dems didn't make Bernie the candidate in 2016 a lot of his most hardcore supporters got pissed and didn't vote. They might be afraid he is going to syphon away some voters and which could lead to a loss.

I am not entirely specific on this but Bernie did something beginning of 2018 that made them be like that. Or said something that triggered them.

Considering how NeoGAF at the time (which is similar to the user base of Resetera now) was talking about Sanders back then, I think the issue must have an earlier root than 2018. Already in the primaries, Sanders supports were treated with contempt. At the time I thought (without evidence) that three factors were at play:
- Fear that Sanders' positions were perceived as too far left and as such he hurts the Democratic base
- Rage that he did not drop out early and thus was a hinderance towards the first female president(ial candidate)
- People being pretty neoliberal and wanting a continuation of neoliberal policies with some identity politics sprinkled in instead of social democratic politics Sanders stood for (afterall, his issues are primarly classical left ones, rather than race/gender/sexuality)

Considering they apparently cobbled it together in 18 months for the most part, Andromeda was much better than it had any business being.
