Count of Concision
My picks:

Phoenix vs. Memphis: Phoenix in 5

San Antonio vs. Denver: SA in 6 (5 if Duncan is 100%)

Seattle vs. Sacramento: Seattle in 6 or 7

Dallas vs. Houston: I'm going w/Houston in 6 or 7 as my dark-horse pick :p

Eastern Conference

Miami vs. New Jersey: Miami in 6

Detroit vs. Philadelphia: Detroit in 5 or 6

Boston vs. Indiana: Indy in 6

Chicago vs. Washington: Wiz in 6 or 7; this should be one of the best-played series imo.

the spurs would have to be unable to play at all to get knocked out of the first round. Anyone can see that they have the experience and will to play their best for the playoffs, and you can't really say that for the nuggets (maybe for K-mart on playoff experience, and that's it). They're about the only lock I can see in the first round.

I've got feeling there's going to be an upset for the suns/grizz series. Not hating on the suns, really, since they were one of the teams that made this season fun, but I've got one of those "oh shit, don't bet on this team" feelings in the back of my head. (now that I brought gambling into this, they'll probably sweep the grizz)

I would say the mavs will win their series in 7, but konex was rooting for them in the old thread, so something bad will happen during one of the first three games to ruin it for them. same for the kings - ewing theory can't beat the konex curse (even though I would like to see them advance, just because they always have good playoff series). We all know already that the nets are doomed due to the curse as well, no matter how well they finished the season (despite that atrocious last game).

Bulls will beat the Wiz, I think. As good as the Wiz have done this year, the Bulls are getting so underrated in this series. I don't see the Bulls going past the second round, but they can win this one. Pistons will advance... ok, I guess they're the other lock of the first round. Pacers will beat the Celts, but it will be at least a 5-game series.

:lol Josh Smith is mean as fuck...he'll not only dunk on your head, but he'll embarass your ass via a block as well. Reason enough to watch the Hawks...well, the only reason really. :lol

i've started to save all relevant newspapers, posters, and pullouts concerning the spurs playoff run. just a quick question, though. do you want the very last paper that'll read, "McNugget size Upset"? pretty depressing...

I picked Dallas to go all the way (beating Detroit in the finals).

Probably won't win this thing because I often picked the teams I liked instead of who the odds were on.

San Antonio is definitely the safe pick (and the best team when healthy), but I am guessing Duncan's injury will come back to screw them over in the playoffs.

:lol DAMN YOU!

Thanks a lot, BTW.

And I know the Spurs are banged up and the Nuggets are a dangerous team. But as long as TD holds up(and he says he is around 80%), I don´t see them having much trouble with them. They´re not the 2nd coming like many people are proclaiming them to be, as evidenced by their last two blowout losses against Houston and Phoenix.

^ Yep.

I have the Spurs beating the Nuggets in 5 or 6, but that's assuming TD is somewhat healthy. I think they'll be close games, so it could go the other way too. But not likely as SA has too much experience.

The only sweeps I have in the first round are Phoenix > Memphis and Detroit > Philly.

Shaquille O'Neal is still hurting, and it's uncertain if the Miami Heat's center will be ready for the beginning of his team's Eastern Conference quarterfinals against the New Jersey Nets. O'Neal, who missed the Heat's final two regular-season games because of a deep right thigh bruise, did not practice Friday. He wore practice attire and low-cut sneakers with no socks and watched the workout from the sideline, but did not have a noticeable limp when he walked.

"If Shaq can't play, we'll go out there and play with the confidence we always play with, with the guys that we've got," Heat guard Dwyane Wade said. "This is a team. And we'll try to win it for him if he can't play."

Heat coach Stan Van Gundy expects O'Neal to practice Saturday. Game 1 against the Nets is Sunday afternoon. O'Neal did not talk to reporters Friday. Earlier this week, he said he would play in Game 1.

"Right now, I just have to see how it goes," O'Neal told The Miami Herald earlier this week. "If I can bend it, if I can run and jump, then I'll be ready to go."

edit: omg Simmons :lol

Who the hell is guarding Dirk Nowitzki in this series? Clarence Weatherspoon? Ryan Bowen? Vin Baker? Dikembe Mutombo? Scott Padgett? Yao? Roger Clemens? There's a good chance that Dirk could break MJ's scoring record for a five-game series, especially since we just named a German pope who will be rooting for him
You need to keep throwing big guys at Duncan ... and the Nuggets have three good ones (K-Mart, Nene and the wildly underrated Marcus Camby). I see him making the Sad Duncan Face a lot, the one where he stands next to Popovich and looks like a son who just let down his dad in Little League

NEW YORK (AP) -- None of the NBA's 30 owners expressed any objections Friday to holding the 2007 All-Star Game in Las Vegas.

``It was not a contentious issue at all,'' said commissioner David Stern, who estimated the owners spent less than 10 minutes discussing the subject during the two days of meetings at a Manhattan hotel.

Much more time was spent discussing the status of negotiations with the players' union on a new collective bargaining agreement to replace the one that expires June 30. The sides are expected to convene again next week after union director Billy Hunter meets with a large group of players to update them on the status of talks.

The league is now awaiting a formal proposal from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, and an announcement on the host city for 2007 should come before the end of the NBA Finals in mid-June.
WOO! NBA COMING TO VEGAS!...one weekend only...BUT ITS COMING TO VEGAS!

Party wise, that could go down as the most ridiculous weekend in mankind history. David Stern better force Baron Davis to enter the skills challenge (and maybe move it to 10 AM Sunday morning)...

I will definitely be watching some of the games this year, but not every single game as I have been doing since the 80s. Hell I even watched almost every quarter of the Spurs/Nets final, despite not giving a damn about either of the teams or the fact that it was one of the worst played Finals ever.

The bar takes priority over basketball though, and it will dictate my schedule.

Edit: I swear this place is just crawling with Tom Brady fans.

Good luck with your er, bar stuff bionic...guess this means you're glad the Lakers aren't in the playoffs. :lol

Just made my picks...basically got the Spurs over Detroit in 7 (think I had the same result but in six games last year). I was really tempted to take the Nets over the Heat, but decided to play it safe. Though I would love to be wrong.

Rasheed Wallace came to the game wearing the championship belt they got with their rings at the beginning of the season

Time to defend the title, i wonder if they lose in the playoffs does the other team get the belts?

"It's on like Donkey Kong."

Pistons really turned it on in the second half...both Prince and Sheed were simply terrific.

Meanwhile T-Mac is owning the city of Dallas so far, much to DM's delight.

Funny how when Sura is in the game, all he can do is pass to Tmac who is reluctant to give it to Sura at all b/c he hasn't been able to shoot or make plays since the injury...put Mike James back in, Gundy.

Well shit,we played great in the first, then after that everyone stopped defending for some reason. No one guarded Antonio all day (the Marc Jackson syndrom mostly) and we didn't give hardly any effort on the boards, meh.

I also saw enough soft and bullshit fouls today to fill me for months,I loathe NBA officiating.
