wonderful... Pargo decided he's a superstar after his performance near the end of the last game. Now we got 2 horrible shots in this last minute by him. And I don't even want to mention the inbounds.

Chicago shouldn't feel bad fouling... Wizards have shot like shit from the line.

EDIT:

See what I mean?

Why did Chandler put that 2 up? Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Duhon, Pargo and Chandler all made POOR decisions in the closing seconds of that game...

Nash won MVP.
Is it official now? What a fucking joke. PEACE.

EDIT: Does Nash deserve to be in this company?

Magic Johnson, Oscar Robertson and Bob Cousy

Hell...fucking...NO. Plus he's worthless on D. He averages 9 more assists per game than Shaq, but 7 fewer points and 7 fewer rebounds, and a lower FG pct. Who's more productive for their team? Who's really more valuable? Again...this is a fucking joke. Who does the voting for this thing? If Jason Kidd couldn't get an MVP playing the position better than Nash, then you simply can't justify this.

i didn't see any of the game because of work. but it sounds like i'm glad i missed it. this is how i've been answering my phone: "hello i know the bulls lost if you say a word about the game i will hang up"

they lost, that's all i need to know. don't care how. there's always next year. thanks for a great season boys.

i could say something like i don't care because we'd just get dominated in the second round by miami, but that'd be a complete lie. this sucks.

:lol Yeah I was laughing hysterically when I saw that. My wife asked me if the Wizards just won the champsionship. :lol

As for Nash/Shaq MVP thing, I think Shaq could have easily won it but he had quite a few injuries this season and most of his stats are down from the previous year. Also the Heat were (and are currently) able to get by without Shaq. Whereas the Suns totally fall apart when Nash is out of the lineup or plays badly.

Remember the Heat still made the playoffs last year and did fairly decent. The Suns on the other hand were total garbage. They had only 20 something wins last year and now with Nash they're a championship contendor with the best record in the NBA.

Talent-wise, Nash is surely not one of the best. There's a lot more flashy players and more dominent players. I'd say Nash is way down that list. But I with the Pistions winning the NBA Finals last year, it reminds us that this is a team game. Of any player in the league, Nash had the biggest impact on his team (more-so than Shaq). He elevated a bunch of losers to a championship caliber team. Just because he doesn't score 30 points a game or grab 10+ rebounds a game shouldn't diminish his value this year.

Shaq made a good Eastern conference team into a championship contendor. Nash turned a bottom feeder Western conference team into the best team in the NBA. So aside from Heat fans, I don't understand why everyone is so better. Truth be told, Miami can get by all the way to the Eastern conference finals until they really need Shaq. The Suns on the other hand would have probably already been bounced by Memphis if Nash was out of the lineup.

I for one will be happy if Nash is indeed the MVP. Maybe it will send a message to the rest of the superstars that getting your team involved and winning is better than scoring records and highlight reels. It seems some players are content with their team sucking ass as long as they get their 25 points per game.

Shaq has been a good team player this year, it's just that he's had too many injuries and his numbers declined from last year. I think he's a better fit for the Finals MVP if the Heat win it all and Shaq plays well. Otherwise they better give it to Wade. :D

For the Nash/Shaq thing: if your team get the best record in the league AND plays in the strongest conference, that's where the MVP trophy is going to be headed. People who say it's all about Nash's supporting cast are ignoring that: 1) that same supporting cast (minus Q) won 30 games last year 2) Nash was still considered AT LEAST the second best PG last year by many, myself included and 3) When Nash was injured, they played like total crap (getting something like 80 ppg).

Sure Amare has been amazing, but he's not as impressive as Wade, who doesn't need anyone to get him the ball. So the sidekicks either cancel out or go to Nash's favor. That, the injuries, the better record, and Shaq's relatively unimpressive stats is why Nash won.

Also, contrasting this to the 2002 MVP race is flawed because Kidd made the Nets a very good team in a horrible conference, not a bonafide championship contender with the best record playing in the best conference. Huge difference. Also, statistically speaking Duncan had a better year than Shaq in 2002.

And interesting comparison is Kidd vs. Nash as PG. Kidd gets a huge edge defensively, but he can't compare to Nash in the halfcourt set. A big reason why the Nets never had a real chance for a chmpionship is that they simply cannot score in the half court. Kidd is totall ineffective there (not quick enough for dribble penetration and is a poor shooter).

Jeff Van Gundy fires back at Avery!

"I made a mistake and I've made some before," Van Gundy said. "All you can do is apologize. I shouldn't have used the word biased or brought somebody else into it. But I would think (Johnson), who just coached a little over half a year and had his own thing after Game 1, would realize that mistakes do happen. He had to be restrained from attacking a ref. But I understand what he's doing. He's doing what he thinks is right. But feel free to call me by my name. Don't beat around the bush."

i seriously think van gundy needs to win the championship this year and retire. otherwise he is flat-out fucked.

well, in my defense, all the tickets for the first and second round games went on sale at once. so right when they went on sale i grabbed as many as i could. i planned to only go to one game and sell the rest.
but after being at the first game, i knew i was going to every goddamn game i had tickets for. the eight tickets were just for the two guaranteed home games though. four for each.

espensive fucking tickets though. yikes. guess i should be happy i'm getting a refund? =/

One Team, One Goal: Pick 14!

I don't understand the haters on the Wizards wearing Round 2 shirts. I HOPE you bastards aren't still on this site when the Bobcats make Round 2 (2007).

Just because *your team that you started following when you became interested in sports* is excited about making it to Round 2 just shows how sad most of you fans really are.

I followed the Hornets from conception to demolition. We regularly made it to round 2. NEVER made it to the Eastern Conference Finals. I'm talking 13 years following this franchise. Unfortunately for most of the sports fans on this site, I'd have to say the majority haven't been through shit. I know who you are, and I respect the real fans. To the johnny come lately's, fuck you.

This just in, only 8 teams make it to the second round. Choose your side wisely GAF.

It's like every fan here has had an NBA Title in the last five years. Doesn't work that way.

Nope. You're wrong. Nash never got a look as MVP in Dallas, from professionals or you.

He doesn't deserve the MVP now, nor did he deserve it last year or any other.

15 ppg and 11 apg?

MVP?

You've seriously got to be shitting me. Especially from a player who doesn't play defense. Put down the Maple Leaf and look at things legitimately.

Does anyone even remember that Phoenix "Overpaid for Nash"?

I don't know if these stats are right.. but I think I seen them on 'The Score' (Station in Canada).

Phoenix w/o Nash: 2-6
Heat w/o Shaq: 6-4

Now, I'm not quite a NBA nutt like some of you guys, but those numbers speak volumes to me.. especially for teams with such high winning percentages.

We'd have to see which teams Phoenix/Miami played when Nash/Shaq were out. I'm willing to bet Miami beat a bunch of shitty eastern conference teams.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!1

WTF is wrong with these goddamn sportswriters? It's arguable whether Nash is even the best PG in the league. He does not deserve an MVP. Again, he is no on the level of Magic, Cousy or Oscar. He's not in the same ballpark, zip code, league, sport, goddamn fucking universe with these guys. When the hell has Steve Nash ever taken over a game? I'm not even talking about this season, I'm talking about ever. This season alone, and aging Shaq has taken over and won more games than Steve Nash could ever dream of. Unlike Nash, Shaq's still the best center in the league. WTH has Nash done that Jason Kidd didn't do better in the Nets' good years? I'm so angry right now. I just want to bitchslap the shit out of Stern. Not that he's directly responsible for this, but his sham of a league has convinced these dumbass sportswriters that somehow playing the PG position the right way deserves a trophy. Bullshit. What did Nash do with that supporting cast in Dallas? That's right, played no fucking D and went nowhere.

Shaq's past looks like a nuclear holocaust. Every team he leaves looks gutted. Remember when the Magic were one of the best teams in the league? LA was once looking to rival the Bull and Celtics dynasties. What the hell is wrong with these writers? I thought Barkley was crazy when he said the players should vote for the all-star team, but I think it would definitely be better if the players voted for the MVP. How many of them would have chosen that no-D, just better than Jason Kidd PG from Phoenix over the championship builder?

I'm now pulling for the Suns to go to the Finals. Shaq will have his revenge, and I say again...he will be Finals MVP. Something's got to give, b/c these kinds of mistakes can't keep happening. I can't fucking believe he only has 1 MVP. That's just so goddamn wrong. :( PEACE.

man i dont watch much bball but man Pimper sound like such a bitch. lol

as if these awards matter much compared to winning the championship.

One MVP is all he's earned so far. This is the only year where you could make a serious case that he deserved it, other than his dominating season in 2000. In 2001 and 2002 is when he started getting banged up and coming to camp out of shape and didn't really dominate like he could. Granted, he got himself into playing shape by the playoffs and destroyed teams, but thats why he has three FINALS mvp trophies. The regular season MVP is for the REGULAR season. 2003 is when his dumbass delayed his toe surgery til September and had to miss the first like 20 games of the regular season, so he had no chance at that one either. Imagine if Shaq had the work ethic of Michael Jordan or someone similar? Damn, the guy would win the MVP every season.

Something Nash will never know about. But the awards are giving credit to the player who achieved the most on the season. Is that really Nash? There was this much bitching when Malone won the MVP over Jordan, and rightfully so.

The PG position only gets an MVP when the play is exceptional. How has Nash's play been exceptional? For a PG? 15/11 is exceptional? Jason Kidd must feel like a tool b/c he's played better ball and been to the Finals and has no hardware to show for it. I'm not worried about the Heat winning the championship, I think it's our destiny. But when you start just handing out the MVP for average performances on good teams, then where does it stop? If you can't see how this is a sham, then maybe you aren't familiar with the PG position. There's a reason you can put one guy on Nash in a game. Because there's no chance he's gonna beat you by himself.

Nash - creates looks for his teammates
Shaq - creates looks for his teammates...legitimate scoring threat that draws double and triple-teams...plays a little something called defense.

I was on the Nash bandwagon up until I realized it was about to run me over. :( MVP this year means Modestly Valuable Player. I mean, didn't he sometimes share time with van Exel in Dallas? Yeah...he was real important to that franchise. :rolaids: PEACE.

If he had 2 MVPs at this point, I wouldn't mind. But how many shots is he gonna have at getting another now? This was his year b/c he damn sure deserved it. He has been robbed his entire career, and as much as you say he didn't deserve it b/c he was out of shape. An out of shape Shaq was still a bigger factor in every game than the guys around him. An out of shape Shaq still lifted his teams to high playoff seeds. Again, wtf did Nash do in Dallas. Is that team chop liver? PEACE.

lol but you make it sound as if it is the end of the world.

Bottom line was Miami a good team without shaq ? were the suns a good team without nash?

who is the most important player to his team this season?

thats how these awards are handed out.
