No Shaq.. Rasheed Wallace to have a f'n field day in the paint....

Interesting... Shaq is suited up... my guess is he'll get some minutes tonight... but Mourning and company will carry the brunt of the load....

Looks like they already started the Block Party :lol.

Ben Has no rebounds in the whole quarter though, that's kind of crazy.

Yeah, but he's still being aggressive, and he IS getting into the lane. He needs to look for Shaq and Zo once he penetrates rather than trying to finish every time. That'll take the heat off him for future drives, since defenders will be less inclined to commit to him.

Btw, if the refs keep allowing Campbell to stick two knees into Shaq's ass and push him with two hands, Shaq's contribution will be minimal.

only 1 quarter against the Piston D and Wade's already losing his cool?

Wade is upset that he's not getting calls against the Pistons?

Wade definitely has a bad habit of turning into Kobe at times. Totally ballhogging and dribbling into double-/triple-teams. He needs to know when to give up the rock. Anyway, we can't let the Pistons get too big a lead here. Gotta reel them in now before they build momentum. PEACE.

Yeah, Wade has forced some shots, but he's also gotten to the rim and missed some "gimmes" that he usually makes. He definitely should have fed Shaq in the post on that last play instead of driving for that wild shot (which he made). Shaq has been great so far in his limited time.

Twin towers rock! This is the trump card SVG has kept close to his chest. But we need to fucking hustle. These second-effort shots are all hustle. Get off your asses boys. Let's play some ball. PEACE.

I'm so happy with how 24 turned out that even though Miami is down I'm gonna turn in happy. ;)

YES! Go DJ! That's my DJ! :D

4pt lead now. We have played very well against Detroit. We've taken some horrible shots though. Wade...7/22. I can't fault him, he'll come correct next game. But he needs to understand that against a team like the Pistons, you HAVE to share the ball. Eddie is hot tonight, and Shaq and Zo are strong presences in the paint. Give up the fucking rock, baby! We will win this yet. Let's play some team ball. That's why Detroit is leading us right now, good team ball and good hustle. PEACE.

Don't forget, he was also the man who convinced Francis to agree to the trade by promising him that they were building something special :lol I guess that "special" something was ditching the team to take a job with the NHL in the middle of a lockout.

For fuck's sake. If Wade dribbles into the corner and takes a bullshit jumper again, I'm gonna lose it. He is totally Kobeing this game away. 7/23...give the fucking ball to Eddie Jones. He's hot tonight. GIVE HIM THE BALL! PEACE.

EDIT: That's pretty much it. No sweep. Pretty fucking pathetic performance tonight from Wade. If he takes another goddamn 20-footer, I'm gonna scream.

Wade taking more shots than Shaq in a game that Shaq is dominating offensively(and bad ones, at that)!?!? INCONCIEVABLE! BUT I THOUGHT WADE WAS THE OBEDIENT LITTLE SIDE KICK! ONLY THAT DASTARDTLY EVIL BALLHOG KOBE IS CAPABLE OF SUCH BAD PLAY AGAINST THE PISTONS!

seriously though, this is almost exactly like the Pistons/Lakers last year all over again. Shaq is getting his but the Pistons are locking up everybody else. The difference is that the Heat actually have some athletes on their team (Haslem, Dooling) that can keep up with Detroit's quickness and keep them from running the HEat out of the gym.

From the way this game went, it looks like Wade started believing his own press from the first two rounds. :D A Kobe-esque performance from Wade, with many questionable shots and decisions. TSC TSC. They need to rein him in for the second game and go through Shaq more; they should get some motion away from the ball when Shaq has it, since they never seem to do that, instead preferring to stand around and simply space the floor. Detroit seems to be zeroed in on that, so they need to switch it up a bit.

Pistons in 5? How so? They played better O tonight than they've played in a while, and they're barely gonna win this. We beat ourselves. Wade killed two fucking runs late in the game with ridiculous shots. If he wanted to avoid comparisons to Kobe, he didn't do a good job of it. Dribbling into a corner, taking wild shots that have absolutely no chance. No excuse for losing tonight, NONE. This should have been a win. A tight win, but a win. SVG better screw Wade's head on right, or he'll throw this series for it. The rest of the team stepped up well enough. Eddie Jones played great.

Detroit did their part. Sheed played well, Billups played great D, as did Prince. But Rip wasn't even on tonight, so we stsill got concerns. SVG should run the twin towers more. It forces Detroit to single on Shaq. We need points in the paint, not jump shots. We're not a perimeter team dammit. Besides, the twin towers frees Wade up to get to the basket. He can't punk this Detroit D.

I'm furious right now, but I'm not overly worried. If we lay an egg like this in Game 2 though, I am gonna fucking lose it. This is a game we should have won. Just no fucking excuse for this loss. :( PEACE.

Wade wasn't trying to become Kobe Jr.

the Pistons were hounding him all night and what people saw as him 'forcing it' was instead trying to find a groove. his confidence must've dropped to nil during stretches of the game.

oh well. i say Pistons in 6, and that's only if the Pistons relax a bit.

I don't approve of the use of the word Kobe in describing Wade's shitty performance.

Instead I suggest we all agree to say that he "pulled a Ewing".

Remember Kobe has 3 rings and was instrumental in all three of those championships. The Heat just didn't have championship poise tonight as a team and it was seen most clearly in Wade's play. I predict that things are only going to get worse for the Heat.

There's a thin line between genius and insanity. If Wade didn't Kobe the game away, I would be laughing my ass off right now. But no fucking sweep. We will win this series in 5. Write it down, take a picture, I don't give a fuck. It'll happen cap'n, and you can put a lock on that shit. But for fuck's sake, if Wade takes another goddamn 20-footer...my heart can't take it anymore. PEACE.

Ewing isn't a good analogy either - the guy didn't have near the quality of support to carry the Knicks, both during and in-between the Jordan eras.

Ah, good to see that all Heat fans aren't delusional. :p

Heat will come back in Game 2, but I still think it'll be very tough for them to win the series. This isn't the Nets or Wizards, it's the best defensive team in the East (sorry Bulls), the defending champions, and a much more experienced playoff team. Miami better get its act together and fast.

And all Kobe/Wade jokes aside, Wade had a poor shooting game because of Pistons defense. However, his court awareness and decisions must improve for them to compete.

BTW, I agree with Loki about the Heat needing to move more when they give it to Shaq in the post. It's worked in the past spacing to create iso, but Detroit shades their guys in on Shaq, and they can react fast enough to either force a tough shot, or get the rebound, and the Heat are left sitting out on the fucking perimeter with their thumbs up their asses while 3 or 4 Pistons fight for an easy rebound. SVG...do something man. Twin towers was great. Tell Wade that if he pulls this shit again, he's benched. Dooling was doing a better job of getting penetration and creating open looks for his teammates. The line with Shaq, Zo, Dooling, Wade and EJ was great. Mix it up more. Force Detroit to single on Shaq, and feed him the goddamn ball. Shaq is never the reason his teams lose. That should tell you something...ugh. Am I heated tonight or what? I gotta make sure I have some booze around for Game 2. I can't sit and stew in my juices like this if they fuck up like this again. But like I said...we're gonna win this round. We're gonna win the championship this year. You gotta believe. It is out destiny. :) PEACE.

Revised predictions are the sign of a defeated man, and possibly leave him open to further ridicule at a later time. It's best to humbly accept your lumps and lay low for a while as people forget your prognostications. :D

EDIT: As an example of movement away from the ball, when was the last time you saw the Heat set an away-from-the-ball screen while Shaq had the ball in the post to give cutters a chance to break loose and receive the pass from Shaq? These sorts of fundamental basketball plays are the kinds of things that teams like the Bulls, Jazz, 80's Celtics etc. used to do all the time to generate easy scores. Players today, however, seem to have no fundamentals and little knowledge of how to play team ball.

I think the genius is the guy who doesn't sign all of his posts with PEACE.

"If our second best star player didn't suck, we would've won! But we WILL SWEEP THE NEXT FOUR GAMES! God I hope our second best star player doesn't suck next game.."

That game was exactly why all this "Dwyane Wade is the best player under 6'10"" hoopla had me up the wall the past few weeks. Allen Iverson and Kobe Bryant, maybe even T-Mac but that's a stretch, do not have that kind of game in the playoffs. You've heard it thousands of times, but elite players are able to still be a factor if their shot is not falling. Whether through steals, rebounds, assists or just man defense. Wade just kept getting worse as the game went on. I think coaching is ultimately going to be the downfall of the Heat because Stan Van Gundy is seriously outclassed here. He had a spark going with Wade and Shaq off the floor that pulled the game to 4 in the 4th. Now you almost have to play your stars at crunch time, but run some more plays for the guys who got you there.

*Edit* I retract the Kobe part because of this past year, before that though my argument stands.

Stan Van Gundy looks like a fucking used car salesman. If it was Miami leading Indiana in Game 6 with 20 seconds to go in Reggie Miller's final game, he would've called a timeout in order to try and sell the Pacers mascot on a 93 Corola in "near perfect condition".
