Just got back from home, so I thought I'd post...

CHAMPIONS!!

What a damn good game. I'm kind of sleepy and drunk, so I'll leave it at that.

At least I picked the Lakers in 6...

As a Sonics fan I have seen Vin Baker play a lot... 'nuff said

Gasol has some skills but yeah don't put him in the same sentence as Tim Duncan.

Gasol fits great in the Laker system, but he really can't carry a team too far on his own (see Memphis). He's not an imposing figure on defense like the other bigs in the league and he doesn't have anything close to the offensive repertoire of Duncan.

But I do think Gasol has helped himself shake off the "soft" label this year. He has gotten tougher. It's just he's not a franchise player yet. An all-star, but not a franchise player.

All players become overhyped once they win a championship. Heck, fans still remember when Tyronne Lue supposedly shut down Iverson, making him a coveted pick up in a lot of fans eyes.

I agree with this 100%.

Looks like hating on Gasol is the new hairdo, now that Kobe has cemented his greatness. :lol

well you should see the hate he gets in Spain :D

last thing i read in spanish forum was :" well he just won ONLY 1 championshio, lets see if he can win 6 like michael jordan"

also i would like to point that when he played in memphis he made those number while being consistenly double and triple teamed.

It's like people just want to find any excuse possible to shit on the Lakers.

Kobe can't lead his own team!
Kobe will never win MVP!
The Lakers are too soft!
Kobe will never do it without Shaq!
erm... uh...umm.... PAU GASOL IS OVERRATED!

I'm actually enjoying it quite a bit :lol

Offseason CAVS-AGE hath arrived!

Damn I tried to stay awake, waiting on reilo's ass to get this thread up.

Hmm, I had a huge post ready, but with the Snaq trade talks, I'm going to fall back until this is worked out.

Here is my dream season scenario:

Lakers(100% healthy) finish season with number 1 overall record.
Lakers face Dallas in first round.
Lakers face Houston in second round.
Lakers face Spurs in WCF.
Lakers face Cavs with Shaq and Lebron side by side.
Or Lakers face Boston.

Make it happen, Stern. You know you want it too you son of a bitch.

I agree with all of this. Pau isn't someone you take to lead a team to a chip, but at the same time let's not act like there is a player in this league that would have gone very far with that Memphis group, Duncan included.

That's what you said about Kevin Love...

and I wasn't fully wrong yet! Because I still think Mayo is way better and the Wolves traded McCants anyways..

But I am the first to admit when I am wrong, which I have said many times he impressed me with his play.

Unlike some people, who just act like they never make mistakes, I can accept the fact that from time to time I am wrong.

Any list that starts with Dirk and has Gasol at number 3 is made by a Mavs fan or the Sports guy..

Meh that deal was fucking weak. Anytime you can match a 20ppg guard with a 20ppg center you fucking do it. Kevin Love is a fine player, but I just thought it was a stupid move. Teams work hard to find that Guard/Center combination, and the Wolves just throw it away.

they still have randy foye and sebastian telfair! and mike miller!

I saw that Wizman dude on the gaming side. Guess he's back from the ban.

How come he's not here celebrating the Cavalier's championship.

Come on now Crimson, don't do this. You know better than that. Or we'll all point to 1999 or 2007.
Don't be the nice guy.

Spurs have never won a back-to-back. They are the epitome of "best of what's left". So I guess Blur knows what he's talking about.

I definitely think the Cavs need a big man to control the paint, but I'm not sure if Shaq would be a good fit or not. They'd probably have a good one-two punch with Shaq and Big-Z supporting Lebron but still, it's Shaq.

So Knicks-Age, who do you want in the draft?

If he's still on the board, Curry no question, but I just don't see him staying there till 8. If he's(Curry) off the board, I like Jrue Holiday. Brandon Jennings just reminds me of Marbury 2.0 with his recent comments about Rubio, and he is just banking on some "mystique" because of his play in Europe (which apparently wasn't that good). Other potential picks I could see are Jonny Flynn and Demar DeRozan.

In a perfect world, we'd send the #8 and Eddy Curry to the Clippers for the #1 and Eric Gordon and take Griffin. (Come on, we all know Dunleavy would totally consider this).

Anyway, I don't think Curry will get past Minnesota or Golden State, we'll probably have our pick of Holiday, Flynn, DeRozan or Jennings. Of those, I the safest bet would be Holiday but I don't know, I didn't watch him enough to know how he would fit into D'Antoni's system.

The New Yorker in me wants them to take Johnny Flynn if Curry is gone by 8.

Force, its alright. Pau is in fact overrated, but it doesnt matter, he got a ring anyways, and thats whats important.

You cant make people like whoever you want them to like. Its like if somebody tried to make me root for Barca in soccer, I just cant do it, I hope they die in a fire, etc, its in my blood! Pau made history for Spanish basketball and were grateful for that in Spain, yeah he had a hard time in one series against some short dudes but so what, shit happens, move on.

Monta, Curry backcourt

An Ellis, Curry backcourt

...

Didn't work with Crawford but I am sure Curry and Monta will mesh perfectly

When is the last time Branduil made a post that was worth reading?

And :lol @ people tring to downplay Pau. He is not perfect and will never be a premier rebounder or defender but I can't think of another big man in the league as offensively gifted as him. The only guy in his zipcode is Duncan and he is a better player overall but even he isn't as skilled as Gasol in some ways.

Dirk is just a streaky jump shooter and thus a matchup nightmare but I would take Gasol over him at this point.

I would imagine that winning that Finals will shoot Pau into the stratosphere in terms of celebrity status in Spain this summer, right Raging Spaniard?

How has the Spanish media reacted so far?

Overreacted, like usual. Claiming Pau to being one of the best Spanish sportsman of all time, downplaying Kobe, making it sound like Pau did all the work ... bleh.

Obviously Im a homer for my boys, but the media in Spain blows everything out of proportion in a way that puts ESPN to shame, they think Sergio should be a starter, for Gods sake.

To be fair Steve Blake is the starter...so they do have an argument...

did you see the dallas/memphis series? streaky jump shooter?

Dirk averages more playoff points than Kobe and shoots a higher FG% in the playoffs than Kobe. SHOTS FIRED

And Dirk is the only player who actually showed up against Denver. Everyone here was taking shit about how Kenyon Martin would shut down Dirk. Even with his pregnant con-artist fiance in jail, Dirk was a beast.
