Official Animal Crossing: City Folk / Let's Go to the City! Thread of Fun & Innocence

Yeah, you could drop patterns on the ground outside, and thus use multiple patterns side by side to make something larger. I assume this is kept in this version.

Me, I just made a road of Alexes from River City Ransom to lead visitors to my house.

Most excellent.

*Has plans*

Theres a prize man in the city today.

He gives you a Bubble Wand (Thats what I cose) and windmill and 2 other things I can't remember.

its FREE but you can only get one.

Does anyone know if the auction house is connected to WiiConnect? I'd love to be able to buy items from people all over the world.

I think it's just with your friends. :(

Captain N said:
If that's the case I hope it also connects you to friends of friends or Nintendo can post some stuff.
You can only bid on items with friends you registered both their WiiCode and cit folk code (Anything WiiConnect 24 requires WiiCode)

I woke up early this morning to sell items to Nook before leaving for work.

It starts....

I leave for work around 6:30 so I can't get to Nooks Cranny before work, but believe me when I say I'll be heading there after work tonight.

Anyone know the friend code limit? I want to load up my list as much as possible, so hopefully you can add a lot.
Its funny of all the things THIS was what I wanted to know the most.

I kept looking at all the videos and I kept asking anyone who got the game or guide early but I never could find out.

The 1st thing I did with the game is see what the limit was but yea...you cant see...

Looked in the manual and everything. Its just not there.

Hopefully someone fills their roster up soon. I hope its more than WW.

What was the limit in WW?

Did anybody else enter the Welcome Waggin contest? My friend and I barely got our pictures in last night. He made a sweet little helmet for his cat to look like Agent S. The results should be known in about two weeks, I think.

In all my excitement I ran through the city before I realized that AC:CF is only coming out in Europe next week. Bought Gears of War 2 and Trauma Center: New Blood for now which should keep me busy until AC is here.

I find the view fine, but I never played the DS one. I guess optimizing each screen with the proper amount of trees is a thing of the past since there aren't screens anymore.

You still had that in Wild World. I remember marking off the 4x4 grid of 16x16-square acres with patterns on the ground for the perfect town quest.

Here's a guide for achieving that in Wild World.

EBgames (Ontario) near by work hasn't unpacked their morning shipments, and they are expecting a UPS shipment later today. So, I hope to have the bundle by the end of the work day. I had them read through their emails as well, and confirmed the 2000 Wii Points (Canada) with the bundle. Woot.

You'll be able to download a pattern maker to the DS even if you don't have the DS version right, right?

Also I haven't kept up but I recall an option in the DS version to make tiles? So you can create a huge image out of smaller tiles?
I haven't found a portable pattern maker, so I don't know if it has one at all. If it does, I'd love to use it over fumbling with the pointer. I needs a D-pad! :(

I picked this up yesterday, digging up an old gift card and wanting to spend the winter months curled up with a bunch of fuzzy animals in a happy little forest town where I can be a fashion designer and gossip and decorate my home and and and

Well, seriously not much has changed but the graphics are by no means terrible, the sound is a huge improvement over garbage that was WW's sound, (though no new music.. just redone versions of WW songs. sad, I liked GC's music better.), and the town is not a huge lot filled with dirt and a couple patches of grass as it was in WW.

The rolling view, which I hated in WW, is actually pleasant on a big TV and when it's not split over two screens. The animals' interactions and personalities seem a bit more fleshed out (though it's been one day, so I can't really say that at this point). Controls are very well implemented and the experience overall feels a lot less clunky than WW did.

I can't say much about the city yet. When they first announced the game I was very skeptical about this aspect, being that it mostly just replaces the random NPC visits with an area where you can just see any of them whenever you want. However after visiting I can say that I definitely enjoy this addition. I'm not entirely sure how this is going to affect how I play in the long term, but even just the fact that it is a change of scenery is very refreshing.

And overall, animal crossing is largely an atmospheric, mood-centered experience. You cannot really talk about the game until you've played it. The graphics are definitely enjoyable when you're actually playing the game. It's pretty much the good things of the first two games mashed together with a few new additions, so if you couldn't stand the experience in those, by all means avoid this title. If you have found enjoyment in animal crossing in the past, you know why you will enjoy this one. That is to say, if you like animal crossing, there is really no reason you should avoid this iteration. It is, in my opinion, the best of the three.

Yup, IGN seemed to echo these statements (exactly) as well.

Added/updated the review section.

Is it true that Nookingtons is only open from 9am -9pm? If so that would be hella lame.

Nooks Cranny is open 8:00A.M. - 10:00P.M.

Make friends on the west coast. If you live on the west coast, sorry.

Yes they will. The whole no voice support problem was just because Nintendo didnt have a "controlled and official" way of doing it. Now they do, and The Conduit is supposed to support it as well.

I think Wii Speak works really well for Animal Crossing, but it might not be the best bet when it comes to games like The Conduit. I hope they have some sort of headset in the future.

Hrm, why are you un-bolded at GameRankings? When CCC and yours were the only reviews, yours didn't affect the score for some reason...

Also your score was bad and we can't have that. >:O

For those who bought the game with WiiSpeak:

- Does the game actually come in a regular sized plastic game case, inside the cardboard box?

- Is it just the WiiSpeak as an extra, or is there anything else?

Waiting for EBgames to receive the bundles (in Ontario) still.. I did the trade 2, and they have the 2000 Wii points though.. so I must suffer.. for one more day only. I hope.

My gamestop only has like 2 Wiispeak bundles...and I COULD get an employee discount, but I have a feeling i'll be getting this as a christmas gift...

Gamerankings requires that multiplatform sites publish at least 300 reviews prior to being bolded and counted toward the overall average. Although our staff has been writing reviews together for years now, when we broke away from our previous parent company at Gamerz-Edge (now defunct as a result) we were forced to rebrand and start from the ground up. Hence we now only have 200 reviews, as our new site just went live less than eight months ago. Another 100 to go before then. :) I have been writing reviews for 8 years now for various outlets before finally settling down.

Anyway, I don't really mind, I was honestly kidding. But since you asked you got the story. :D

I imported my character from WW, none of his items or gil came through.

What else can I do with WW>CF connectivity in terms of bringing stuff over.

Check your catalog. Most if not all of your items should be there, you just have to re-buy them.

lol, gil?

So, I'm all ready to play, only apparently there's a mandatory update on the disc. My Wii is all homebrew'ed up. Is this update safe (as in, won't break homebrew), or should I pass on this game?

I suppose I could try a launcher to circumvent the update...

-Not sure if I understand this, but the Wii Speak device is just wrapped in plastic within the box, next to the game case.

I think it's the most recent one, in which case avoid the update as it'll neuter homebrew for you. Best to run it through a program that disables the firmware updates.

I kind of want this game now... I mean I love Animal Crossing but I'm not ready to pour money into, what I see as a half-assed effort. Wii Speak really intrigues me though...
