Inside Dish: Personnel moves paying off for Bulls
By Sean Deveney - SportingNews
Give credit to Bulls vice president John Paxson, and not just for his wildly successful draft last year, which netted G Ben Gordon, SF Luol Deng and PG Chris Duhon. Paxson also played the trade market well, foisting defenseless SG Jamal Crawford and overpaid F Jerome Williams on the Knicks and adding veterans PF Othella Harrington and SG Eric Piatkowski. The Bulls suffered a scare last week when C Eddy Curry began experiencing an irregular heartbeat. Harrington has filled in nicely, averaging 16.7 points and 6.3 rebounds in Curry's first three games out. Depth has been a strength for the Bulls, who have eight players averaging at least 24 minutes and only one (G Kirk Hinrich) who averages more than 30 minutes....
Another invaluable Bulls big man is F/C Antonio Davis, whose status as the team's veteran leader got a boost when he defended Hinrich in a preseason fight with the Wizards. Davis was not getting many minutes from coach Scott Skiles early in the season and quietly complained about it--it would be difficult to lead, he figured, if he did not have the credibility that comes with playing time. Skiles got the message, and Davis has become a regular. . . .
1 (1) Suns 56-17 The run-and-gunners have scored 120-plus points 18 times this season. Suns did it only 10 times total in the previous seven seasons.
2 (2) Heat 55-19 In case you still need convincing that Shaq makes a difference, be advised that Heat had only 13 road wins last season ... compared to 22 already with five road games left.
3 (3) Spurs 54-19 Spurs are nearly back to .500 without Duncan (5-6), and dare we also say Duncan can find a playoff rhythm quickly even if he doesn't play before the regular season ends.
4 (7) Mavericks 49-24 You can deal with a lopsided L at Cleveland after Ws at Detroit, Boston and Philly -- in the same week Stack and Dampier return.
5 (8) Nuggets 41-31 Throw out their last two games against Phoenix and Furious George has Nuggets on a stunning 17-0 run. Overall they're 14-1 at home for the new coach and 10-5 on the road.
6 (4) SuperSonics 50-23 Wondering what keeps Sonics up here? Slump or not, Sonics are still 23-14 against teams above .500, which is second only to San Antonio's 26-14. Phoenix is third at 24-15.
7 (6) Pistons 46-27 Pistons players can get frustrated with Larry, but they do miss him at times, too. To wit, they're 9-8 without him and followed up a 9-1 record February with a 9-8 March.
8 (9) Bulls 41-31 It looks safer and safer to put the 0-9 No Mores in the same exclusive club with Phoenix when it comes to making the playoffs after a dreadful start. Suns, remember, opened 0-13 in '96-97.
9 (5) Rockets 44-30 Just when we were ready to anoint Houston as the Lower Seed No One Wants To Face out West, Rockets played New Orleans at home on April Fool's Day ... and lost. No joke.
10 (14) Pacers 38-34 The way these guys are rolling without J. O'Neal -- specifically Reggie, who averaged 19.1 ppg in 31.2 mpg in March -- Pacers have to be the East's most feared bracket buster.
SEATTLE -- Shawn Kemp, a former Seattle SuperSonics power forward, was jailed Monday after officers stopped a pickup truck he was in and found what appeared to be marijuana and cocaine, authorities said.
King County Jail spokesman Capt. Troy Bacon said Kemp was being held for investigation of drug possession. Kemp has not been charged with any crime.
Without naming Kemp, the King County Sheriff's Office released a statement saying the arrest happened around 1 a.m. in Shoreline, a suburb north of Seattle, after an officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana while talking to two men in a parked Chevrolet pickup.
After searching the truck, the officer found what appeared to be a small amount of cocaine, about 60 grams of marijuana and a semiautomatic pistol, the sheriff's office said.
A law enforcement source told The Associated Press that one of the two 35-year-old men arrested was Kemp.
Kemp is scheduled to make his first court appearance Tuesday afternoon in county District Court.
Kemp, a five-time All-Star, was drafted by the Sonics in 1989 and played for Seattle until 1997, when he was traded to Cleveland in a three-way deal that brought Vin Baker to Seattle from Milwaukee.
Kemp also played for Portland and Orlando before ending his career in 2003.
He appeared in 78 NBA playoff games, leading the Sonics with 23.3 points and 10 rebounds per game in the 1996 finals against the Chicago Bulls.

Knowing Kupchak, he'll probably draft a slow, white small forward from Gonzaga.

Monday: The San Antonio Spurs today announced that they have signed forward Glenn Robinson. Per club policy terms of the deal were not disclosed. Robinson has averaged 20.8 points and 6.1 rebounds in his 679 game NBA career. The two-time All-Star spent the entire 2004-05 season on the injured list before being waived by New Orleans on 3/2/05. Robinson began the season with the Philadelphia 76ers before being dealt to the New Orleans on 2/24/05 in exchange for Jamal Mashburn and Rodney Rogers. Glover, who signed his second 10-day contract on 3/30/05, appeared in seven games for San Antonio. He averaged 3.6 points and 1.6 rebounds in 9.7 minutes.

Truelize said:Yeah his game is broke. And he's in a contract year too. And what ever happened to Wagner???? Has been off the injured list this year yet? Cavs need a PG badly.

Change the avatar for your own safety.
And the playoffs are overrated, the REAL excitment comes from the lottery!

The Spurs clinch the title, baby!
Seriously, I know Pop isn't expecting much from him. Definitely much better than Dion "Put the ball in my hands and magic will happen" Glover. At least he may bring some balance to the offense with all the current injuries.
Also, could the mod that deleted my 2nd post in this thread tell me why he did it? Thank you.

Both Tracy McGrady (knee tendinitis) and Yao Ming (bruised calf, sprained ankle) received treatment for their injuries on Monday instead of practicing, but both are expected to be in the lineup on Tuesday when the Rockets visit the Warriors, the Houston Chronicle reports.

PS: May is crazy if he doesn't come out this year
Sean May, however, suggested he would return for his senior season during remarks at the Tar Heels' victory celebration in Chapel Hill with fans in the Smith Center on Tuesday afternoon.
"I love ya'll. Thank ya'll. We're going to try to come back and do it next year," May said. "Along with that I'm going to try to get some of these guys to come back with me."
Williams confirmed May's stated intentions.
"Sean has said publicly he is coming back, but we'll sit down and talk," Williams said.
