Man God said:If you go by sales than CT really isn't that major of a title. Same with Secret of Mana.
They're still short sighted though. The majority of SE fans will rebuy it on any system, for just about any price. No need to for carts, cds, manuals, ads, anything.
Heck some people would prefer the unadultered FF or DQ 1-6.
I think SE's thoughts on this are that the amount of people who would rather buy a cheaper version on VC of say FFVI, CT, etc. and then wouldn't go and buy a port or remake scares them enough to not allow that option. Basically buy the rather expensive port or you're out of luck as there is no other way of playing the game (eBay or ROMs aside).MoxManiac said:The other thing too is, I don't think VC releases would interfere with sales of remakes. I think a CT for DS, for example, would still sell well even if CT was on VC.
farnham said:well thats not entirely true.. Actraiser is an Enix game for example.. he said that SE games will only be released if they dont see any chances for those games to be remaked...
so i guess games like terraenigma, actraiser 2, soul blazer (was it.?) among some other games could come out.. (hopefully Secret of Mana and Seikendensetsu 3... )

This week's addition let's players pit their favorite Nintendo Characters against each other in a 4 player star studed smash fest!
Nintendo adds new games to the Wii Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are:
Super Smash Bros: (Nintendo 64®, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone, 1,000 Wii Points): Super Smash Bros. is a four-player brawler using a non-traditional fighting engine: instead of simply depleting an opponent's life meter, you must knock him off the playing field! , Smash Bros. pits popular Nintendo characters in combat situations throughout well-known locations. Fighters include Mario, Link (from The Legend of Zelda), Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Samus Aran, Kirby, Fox McCloud (from Star Fox), Pikachu and four additional characters waiting to be unlocked. All characters fight in levels based on their own videogames, so you'll battle outside Hyrule Castle, Yoshi's Island, the Congo Jungle, Planet Zebes, Sector Z, Peach's Castle, Dream Land and Saffron City.
The gameplay is designed for multiplayer action with an emphasis on one-on-one fighting. While characters can pull off a number of distinctive moves based on their natural abilities (such as Mario's fireball or Samus Aran's Screw Attack), all fighters have a projectile, close range and throw attack with slight variations depending on whom you select. Various weapons and power-ups will also randomly appear during each stage, so players will be able to wield beam swords (resembling light sabers), baseball bats, fans and other types of items. The game also includes a variety of options to customize the action, including multiple difficulty levels, your choice of mono or stereo sound, adjustable screen settings and the ability to set the number of lives.

When Wii started off, I wasn't worried about it in the least, because letting people carry the games over seemed like such an obvious move that I couldn't fathom Nintendo not doing it.EphemeralDream said:Jiggy, are you at all worried about Nintendo ceasing the VC service or not carrying over purchased titles to their next console iteration? I've thought about selling some of my SNES and n64 titles, especially the ones in which I only own the cartridge. However, if they don't carry over titles, it'd be like the same problem again where you can only play this game on this piece of hardware. A terrible move on Nintendo's part should they do it, but seeing as they pay little attention to making the VC service better, it doesn't seem completely out of the question.

(contradiction with the frequent previous references to being for four players) While characters can pull off a number of distinctive moves based on their natural abilities (such as Mario's fireball or Samus Aran's Screw Attack), all fighters have a projectile (outright falsehood; even without factoring in the secret characters, DK and arguably Kirby don't have projectiles), close range and throw attack with slight variations depending on whom you select. Various weapons and power-ups will also randomly appear during each stage, so players will be able to wield beam swords (resembling light sabers) (they probably wouldn't say this), baseball bats (or this), fans and other types of items. The game also includes a variety of options to customize the action, including multiple difficulty levels, your choice of mono or stereo sound (and probably not even that), adjustable screen settings and the ability to set the number of lives.

Jiggy37 said:Edit: Serious note: I actually went back and edited one post, then realized it's pointless since we've got a whole thread here and months of history.
Seems hard to believe NA would get 2 N64 games in a row, although the timing (being that it's SB) does seem right. And 1 game wouldn't surprise me, it's a pretty big release.Cheesemeister said:Real?
I think it has the opposite effect. Finding out on Monday would likely lead to more impulse buys, whereas finding out over the weekend gives the consumer more time to dwell on if they "need" it or not. Certain games could see a hype train forming, based on early news, but these games are likely popular enough to get bought by a lot of people anyway.Milabrega said:If you linked to the thread, the jig is up heh. Even still the info on friday should improve sales, as it gives time for people to purchase Points cards and for other users here to share opinions of the game, so this is one Nintendo leak i don't think they would mind.

Well, looking at their atrocious grammar and fact-checking, perhaps the extra effort needed to create the second paragraph is the explanation for why the PR took two extra days.Iam Canadian said:That's a very thorough proofreading job, Jigs, but I honestly would probably just excise that entire second paragraph. I've never known the PR to go into that much detail about a game.

I want too so bad. My first taste will probably be on the Masterpiece section of Brawl if it is in fact in the US version.Iam Canadian said:I can't hype it enough. Earthbound is, bar absolutely none, my favourite game ever made.
If you have even the slightest interest in RPGs, I strongly recommend that you play it.
I didn't cover two of those things, though I was thinking that about Samus. As for Congo Jungle, it's the word "the" that seems most awkward to me--as if they're talking about the real Congo Jungle on the real Earth, or something. Bizarre.Firestorm said:Doesn't sound real. Nintendo wouldn't say "non-traditonal fighting game", also wouldn't clarify the series Link is from but not Samus, I think it's Kongo Jungle not Congo, and the emphasis on 1v1 fighting also isn't something I'd expect from Nintendo. And I just now realized jiggy covered it.
