Official bitching about Hudson abandoning VC support. [VC/WiiWare = lost cause]

We also need some Castlevania III.

Trevor Belmont will always be the true first Belmont, forget Leon.

The 3D Castlevanias are a blight on my existence. I still choosing to get the N64 game over Xenogears when I was a kid. Slogged through it too, until I got to the napalm puzzle. I still have the thing to, sitting with my other games as a testament to research.

Wonder Boy and a couple of WiiWare titles (Block Breaker Deluxe, Critter Round-up (US title for Saku Saku Animal Panic?), Defend Your Castle) have now been ESRB rated.

Oooooh, you're gonna love Japan's April schedule. Somebody else help me translate please, Babelfish only translates partially:

Mega Drive:
-Musha Aleste
-Phelios

PC Engine:
-Legend of Valkyrie
-Dracula X
These are the games I would buy if they were brought over. Incidentally, I hadn't heard of Legend of Valkyrie until about a week ago, when someone pointed out how great a resource that Hardcore Gaming 101 site is and I spent a good few hours looking around it, but it looks like something I'd play--even though it would probably still be in Japanese. Incidentally, that was pretty much always the Cassandra outfit I used in Soul Calibur 2, but the original design with the longer skirt looks better.
But yeah, I'd also be all over Musha, Dracula X, and Phelios (noting that that's not the Genesis version in this video).

With that said, first I'd kind of rather have the Genesis and TG16 games that are already rated. Like, you know, Dragon Slayer, Final Soldier, Ys Book I & II, Gleylancer, Mega Turrican, Shining Force II, and Super Fantasy Zone. If I can't trust that that stuff's coming, there's not much else left to trust.

As for Dracula X, I will not be downloading it unless the TG-16 emulation is somehow fixed. They're giving us what is apparently one of the great 2-d games, but they won't let us see the pixel art in its true form, through their vaseline filter.

There's no way I'll be able to resist getting Dracula-X on VC, but I'm more than sympathetic to your position. The deliberate uglyfilter on TG16 emulation on the VC definitely kills some of my enthusiasm and has caused me to pass up some lesser titles on the platform.

Yeah, it is a big deal.

Ah, damnit, I hoped VC was free of that blurring. They did the same thing with the Mega Man Anniversary Collection. Supposedly to make the visuals easier to look at since we're seeing them through the clarity of these newer consoles.

it is not all vc games. it is ONLY the TG-16/PCE emulator. SNES, NES, Gen, NeoGeo, and N64 games are unaffected. That being said, I do think it sucks but also think many on here make WAY too big a deal out of it. I would love like everyone else to have the unaltered pixels of the game with no filter on them. However I really don't feel it alters the enjoyment of the significant number of TG-16 games I've bought on VC.

It's because it would be so easy to have the option to turn the software filtering "on" and "off". They don't want to give us a choice here. There's even people that prefer the look with the software filter, imagine they could turn it on for SNES, NES, etc.

It's kind of odd that I've gotten to the point where I'm not even looking forward to being disappointed about the Monday VC releases anymore. I want to be happy or sad, not indifferent. :(

I don't see what issues that would exist regarding Castlevania III's emulation.

I'm aware that the Famicom version had an extra chip for improved music quality, but the North American version lacked such a chip, I believe.

Both versions had additional chips actually, but the US version had a standardized Nintendo chip (as NOA didn't allow 3rd party chips).

We get the awesomeness of the long-awaited Dracula X on VC and what do I hear- "Where's CVIII" and "What?!?! It's not as good as the superior and highly underrated Bloodlines! Nerrrrr."

My old school VC collection will be complete with this badass game.

Wii-kly Update: Two New Classic Games Added to Wii Shop Channel

It’s a week of fun-filled firsts at the Wii™ Shop Channel. Each of the latest game offerings represents the first title in a memorable series that has influenced many subsequent titles over the years. Whether you prefer high-speed drives or side-scrolling adventures, it’s clear that these classic games have lasting appeal. What’s more, Wonder Boy is the first-ever Sega Master System title to be made available via Virtual Console.

Nintendo adds new games to the Wii Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii™ owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week’s new games are:

Cruis’n USA™ (Nintendo 64®, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 1,000 Wii Points): Ever felt like driving to the Golden Gate Bridge, Mount Rushmore and the White House in one day? Well then, gear up to put your racing skills to the test in a frantic trip across the United States, following a route that you won’t find on any map. Whether it’s the rolling hills of Appalachia, the flowing cornfields of Iowa or the crowded tunnels below Chicago, you’ll find yourself too focused on the intense racing action to worry about the scenery. Get started by picking from a garage full of cars to find the one that best suits your style—if you’re good enough, you’ll even find a few hidden ones to round out your selection. Then choose one of three different playing perspectives and get ready to hang on tight. With five difficulty levels, the ability to remove traffic or other racers, and two- player simultaneous racing, it’s enough to make you forget all about finding that next rest stop. Just watch out for the cows, OK?

Wonder Boy (Sega Master System, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone—Comic Mischief, 500 Wii Points): As Tom-Tom the Wonder Boy, it’s up to you to rescue your girlfriend Tanya from the vile clutches of the monster that has kidnapped her. To do so, you must navigate a series of worlds in a race against time to reach your goal. Along the way, you’ll battle foes and collect fruit that will add to the amount of time you have to complete your mission. You can also receive helpful power-ups from various eggs, but make sure to avoid the bad eggs and poisonous mushrooms that sap your precious vitality. Find the magic doll in each level to open up hidden areas, and make it to the very end of your journey to rescue your one true love.

Wonder Boy to kick off the Master System? They could have done much worse. I'll bite. Thanks for the update!

I can't believe they're launching Master System with one game. :| They couldn't have held off until they had at least three ready to put up?

I just watched a video of cruisin and...

WTH? First of all its a racing game. There are already to many racers for N64 :|

Second of all, it did look a little interesting...but a total waste especially since N64 gtames are so rare....

A game which is an EXACT clone of a NES game already on VC :/

This is the worst VC console launch ever.

C'mon Nintendo and SEGA, I know you can do better than this. D: I mean, at least lead off with the first Master System Sonic game, or something, not a carbon copy of a game already on the service. The MS Sonic games aren't great or anything, but at least they're different.

On the bright side, it looks like they managed to find a way to grant me disappointment despite my already-pitifully-low expectations!

I love Drac X as much as the next guy, and then some, but to overlook CV3 would be nuts. Besides, we just got 1 rerelease of Drac X in the Drac X Chronicles.

Did anyone really say Bloodlines was better than CV3 though?

Not having anything to play is a less enjoyable fate than not having anything to play but at least having stuff to indignantly complain about and criticize. :D

Anyone else like to see old PC games start to show up on the VC? And I mean like the old Lucasarts games or Ultimas or Daggerfall?
I'd rather have a collection pack of old Lucasarts games with extras like they did with Mega Man.

Just to clarify for anyone who doesn't realize this yet:

The SMS Wonder Boy coming Monday is the exact same game as Hudson's Adventure Island on NES, it just has altered graphics and music.

Terrible SMS launch if you ask me.. I'd rather have the games that were built into the system than a clone of an existing VC game.
