A Black Falcon said:I don't quite get the constant Beetle Adventure Racing love, as I've said before in this thread. Oh, it was fun, but one of the system's best racing games? No way! It kind of felt like something halfway between Need for Speed and San Francisco Rush (2049), but better than NFS and not as good as Rush. Plus it had an incredibly annoying campaign where you had to play through all of the races in succession, a very difficult task. I don't know if I ever got to the sixth (final) track..
I don't know much about Gotzendiener except for its concept (which, yeah, is pretty great), its genre, and that it wasn't released outside Japan. That'd be great if there actually wasn't much Japanese in it, to increase its odds of showing up.A Black Falcon said:But doesn't it have like two lines of Japanese (plus the main menu), and no text or voice acting ingame? I'd think it would work fine... the game concept sounds pretty awesome too.
And why not Terranigma... it did have a European release, after all.
I would have asked for Popful Mail so fast if its only English release wasn't on Sega CD. It's the biggest reason I want Sega CD support on VC--just looks so good, and unlike the Lunars, I haven't played it before.FFantasyFX said:I sent in:

3.) Demon's Crest (SNES)
4.) Space Station Silicon Valley (N64)
5.) Fire 'n Ice (NES)
Barely missing the cut were Goemon's Great Adventure, E.V.O, and Little Nemo. Then I saw AniHawk's list and thought, hmmm, Lufia II isn't a bad choice either. And I'll have to be on the lookout for Golvellius, Crusader of Centy, and Popful Mail since jarrod listed them with two of my favorite games of all time (Secret of Mana, Crystalis). If I'm not careful, I'll have a list of 100 plus most wanted games just like Jiggy.![]()

Either I never played them or never owned them.

Speevy said:Little Nemo is not a Capcom-owned property. It was based on the movie, which was based on the Winsor Mckay comic strip. Thus, it will probably not appear on the VC.
Jiggy37 said:And I was right on the verge of putting Crystalis on my list too, but I figured that it's a Nintendo release, so it's bound to show up eventually even if nobody asks. Or at least I hope so. I only played the GBC version and enjoyed it quite a bit, so I'd love to play the original that everybody says is much better.
Well, it can go multiple ways. Thus the dueling Lord of the Rings releases of a few years ago, with EA releasing games based on the movie adaptations and Someoneelseiforget releasing games based only on the books. I'm not a Little Nemo expert, but Capcom's version does look much more the style of "1990-ish anime Nemo" than "1900-ish comic Nemo".AniHawk said:I didn't know that's how it worked. Is coming. (Only confirmed for Europe so far, but I don't see why the US wouldn't get it. III is also coming.)JSnake said:5) Phantasy Star IV
Yeah, it's terribly complicated. Because Windsor McKay likely created the strips work for hire for the newspaper it originally appeared in, it's likely that newspaper owns the rights to the strip and the license. You are right in that the license applies to a particular medium, and in this case it was a game cartridge for the NES. Releasing it in any other format (including even a compilation cartridge for the NES) likely falls outside of the original license and would require a new one.AniHawk said:I didn't know that's how it worked. Aside from that, I thought Little Nemo was in the public domain now, and why would Tokyo Movie Shinsha (or whoever made the movie) have to gain by keeping a deathgrip on the rights to the game through their rights to the movie?

This gets even worse. Because the game was in fact based on the movie, they would have to go back to the movie studio to get the permission, who would then have to contact the original copyright holder for their permission. For all we know, all of the copyright and license holders would LOVE to have the game rereleased... but there may be a point that it's not profitable to capcom to even assign someone to deal with the licensing issue let alone, let alone test the game and release it to sell a couple hundred copies.
this is one of those cases where I would really say it doesn't stand a chance.

Uh.....so what happened to that thing called "Virtual Console"? It had a good variety of games till November 2007 then after that they went all bad...
I don't know what you're going on about. The quantity dropped, yes, and that was a horrible, horrible move by Nintendo. Terrible.WiiRevolution1 said:Another shooter!

But variety? Since December 2007 we've had fighting games, platformers, puzzle games, space shooters, run 'n' guns, Zelda clones, RPGs, action games, and sims.
