Official bitching about Hudson abandoning VC support. [VC/WiiWare = lost cause]

YES! Super Fantasy Zone! :D

My original VC wishlist is almost complete!

1. Sin & Punishment (N64)
2. Super Fantasy Zone (Genesis)
3. Super Mario Kart (SNES)
4. Earthbound (SNES)
5. Galaga '88 (TG-16)

6. Super Metroid (SNES)
7. Gunstar Heroes (Genesis)
8. Beetle Adventure Racing (N64)
9. Streets of Rage 2 (Genesis)
10. StarTropics (NES)

Seven down, three to go! :D

So uh, Yoshi's Island, Kirby Super Star (which I now know will never happen because of the fucking DS game), or Super Mario RPG aren't out yet right?

Man, this is completely different than what I wanted/expected from the VC.
I'm starting to get a little resentful Nintendo.

It's like Nintendo doesn't want our money or something. There is no reason for the American Virtual Console to be lagging behind the Japanese counterpart (and to think, the Wii actually launched in the U.S. first).

Huh. I was all set to buy Star Parodier today, only to find it isn't up. Space Fantasy Zone is a great substitute, though, so I'm going to buy that instead. First VC purchase in a loooooooooong time!!

No, it's definitely a good week, but it's marred a bit by the confusion over why we didn't get the TG-16 games. Plus, even though I kind of want Gley Lancer, I'd rather have Star Parodier, and if it's coming out next week or something I'd rather wait for that. I can only play so many shooters at once, after all.

Also, there's the whole fact that Europe got all this stuff months ago, with an actual marketing push (of sorts) to boot.

All I could think of when the VC was announced was Super Mario RPG. It was one of those games that I rented so much that the rental costs surely were more than the actual cost of buying the game.

And here I sit still over a year later completely empty handed. MAKE IT HAPPEN!

That is me and Shinning Force 2. Though I rented it at least 20 times, I've never beaten it. I've always gotten to varying spots
after the chess board battle.
I really want to beat it, especially now since I understand a little more about the mechanics.

Welcome to the mindset of every regular poster in this thread. I hope you enjoy your stay! :D

While I'm feeling a bit disappointed about the lack of Star Parodier, Gley Lancer and Super Fantasy Zone were also on my wishlist, so I can't really complain
much.

At least I get to be totally wrecked by two new shmups this week! :D

So apparently I'm not a regular poster in this thread! :lol

You post frequently, but your optimism is highly irregular.

Hey I'm optimistic too. Mostly because I have no money and like to pretend I'm buying games. I can wait for games, if I needed them I'd have already bought them. I just like to watch how this thing grows. If you stop and look at what's actually in the catalog together it really is quite amazing, a retro gamers wet dream.

I deemed it worthy of a 5/10. It's too repetitive to hold your attention for too long, its saving grace is the moderately enjoyable versus mode.

Gley Lancer and Super Fantasy Zone are both great, really. Neither is as good as Star Parodier but they're two of the best Mega Drive/Genesis shoot 'em ups.

Gley Lancer's amazing, one of the Genesis' best. Great soundtrack, great graphics with lots of parallax, nice variety of weapons, moderate difficulty level, good level designs... Versus Star Parodier? I'd rather play Gley Lancer, because I like horizontal shmups better than vertical, but they're both very good.

The only downside is that the story's in Japanese, unlike the fan-translated rom, and the game has a story. That's a definite problem. The story's nothing amazing, but is worth understanding...

Anyway, I'd put it in my top three Genesis shmups with Lightening Force and Eliminate Down. Any shmup fan should definitely buy it.

Interestingly, the VC version has a full translation of all the scenes in the Operations Guide. Too bad it isn't an in-game translation though...

I did'nt want to create a seperate thread since I'm sure its nothing big but I noticed a new option in the JP Wii Shop Channel:

DSC02141.jpg

(Its the bottom option) anyone know what its for? It asks you to input a 16 digit code. I tried mine and my freinds wiicodes and nothing happened.

(And yea I don't know Japanese :P)

Oh and Super Fantasy Zone looks great. D/L the original and I'll probally download this one within the next couple weeks.

Huh, that is interesting. Better than nothing at least, though it's too bad that that way it spoils it all without having to play to see them...

My bet is they are now giving away more free stuff in Japan we will never get ;-;

Do you have a better picture? I can't read the text.

edit: This may also be worth another topic. Not a lot of people come in here, a new thread might get some J-GAF attention.

you put in a code to download a "secret" channel. so far, the Band Bros. Speaker Channel is the only one.

Gley Lancer and Super Fantasy Zone are good releases. Well, Gley Lancer's cool... never played SFZ (the SMS Fantasy Zone is one of my favorites, though). I really want more Turbo Duo/TG16 CD titles. I missed out on so many of those back in the day.

EU VC update:

-International Karate+ (C64)
-City Connection (NES)
-Neo Turf Masters (NG)

Prediction: Monday's update will be two Wiiware games and Neoturf Masters. Many will cry (unless one of the WW games is Strongbad, in which case we'll lament the VC's release but still be satisfied).

From what we've heard from WiiWare developers the next two weeks will have:

28th July:
-Strong Bad Episode 1
-Pong Toss

4th August:
-Plättchen

What I want to know, is are the WiiWare developers saying Strong Bad will be out on the 28th because that is the known plan, or are they doing what a lot of other people are doing, and saying "well, they said July, this is their last chance?"

Dragona, you can be happy now!

Upcoming US TG games:

-Chase H.Q. next week
-Star Parodier and Break In on August 11th
-Ys Book I & II in August

I can't stand it anymore I want Shining Force 2 and Super Mario Rpg! Next week they will releasing just one and two shitty WiiWare Games here in Europe so I have to wait two weeks until we get new VC-Titles. This is so bad :(.

Japanese update next week:

-Rockman (FC)
-Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition (MD)
-Blood Gear (PCE)
-Eggy (MSX)

Japanese games for August:

FC:
-Twinbee
-Nazo no Murasamejou (Likely import for us, I think)
-Rockman 2

SFC:
-Gakkou de atta Kowai Hanashi

N64:
-Nothing, again

SMS:
-Sonic the Hedgehog (Master System edition)

MD:
-Lord Monarch

PCE:
-Eikan ha Kimini: Koukou Yakyuu Zenkoku Taikai
-Chase H.Q.
-Dragon Saber
-Parasol Stars

MSX:
-Nothing (Relics has been delayed from July to an unspecified date)

Also, the PEGI has rated Jumpman (C64).

IK+: :D

I have to add this to my VC collection. I'm sure it still holds its own nowadays.

It does.

I brought a C64 and IK+ Gold (the version with 3 players simultaneous play) to a gaming party a mate had recently. How do you think it faired against an Xbox 360 and a Wii hooked up to their own dedicated giant TVs? IK+ Gold was played more that night than any other game. It had a constant 3 people playing it from the time it arrived to about 1am when everyone had retired.

Great game.

N64:
-Nothing, again

:( I'm all for the underdog systems getting attention but there's still plenty of great N64 games deserving to go up.

Anyway I played Gradius NES over a friend's house recently on VC, is it actually possible to get past the volcanoes in the first stage? :lol...:(

They will not publish many more 280 blocks titles until they have a solution for storage.

Japanese games for August:

PCE:
-Parasol Stars

Ack! This is one of my 'most wanted' VC releases. Hopefully that means it'll be released in NA soon-ish as well.

Oh, and both Star Parodier and Ys Book I & II are must-buys for me, too. Looks like I'm finally going to need some VC points again. Woo Hoo!!

Well, it's nice to see that Hudson has apparently gotten back onto the proverbial ball and started giving us games we actually want to see. I eagerly await both Star Parodier and Ys.

Also, Japan is finally getting Rockman? Maybe it signals the arrival of the Blue Bomber in Nor...oh, who am I kidding? D:

yeah, despite already having IK I'll gonna get IK+ too. :)

Any impressions on Neo Turf Masters?
checked some youtube videos and it looks like a decent arcade golf game. Only found one review with a 10/10: http://www.neo-geo.com/reviews/neo-reviews/ntm/ntm.html

Best arcade golf game ever made.
That's all you need to know.
I could've bought the damn cartridge with all the quarters I've spent playing this game at the arcades.
and then I did buy it :D
