Official bitching about Hudson abandoning VC support. [VC/WiiWare = lost cause]

Is there any interesting info on the shop front page?
Nothing at all about the update yet, probably will be added in the morning (Along with NoE sending out emails about the Hanabi Festival like the previous two times).

That is, if you are in NOA territory like me. That is what happened. I am of course happy for the Pal-land GAFers though.

I'm British. And I just downloaded the game.

I'll tell you what it's like in a minute.

Whoa!

This could open some good precedent since its a Square game... I honestly doubted it would ever come out for VC.
It's already been out in Japan for near 2 months, there was no way it wouldn't be released elsewhere.

I wish I had enough blocks for that.......

Anywho PAL-Land GAFers, is the game optimized for you or not?

It's almost undoubtedly the US version.

Seeing as it is probably the US version then there's absolutely nothing stopping it now, North America should see it real soon.

This is awesome.:D
NoE will pay for this.

You too, no yuropean shall be spared!

Give me SMRPG or give me death!

Wow that is a VC megaton (since it was hard to say whether SMRPG VC would ever leave Japan). Hmm.. I have the cartridge already but might double-dip if it comes to the US. One of Shimomura's masterpieces for sure.

Don't know why this hasn't been posted yet, but it looks like Europe/Aussies got Super Mario RPG and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels for this Friday...according to that awesome censored Nintendo-Go site.

EDIT: ooooo...nm

Seriously, nobody can fucking defend NoA if they drag their feet on SMRPG for NA. NOBODY.

Super Mario RPG! Holy fucking crap! :O

....

Check the posts above you from hours ago.....

Interesting to see Lost Levels back. I really have no clue why they even made it limited in the first place, it made no sense.

Anyway, I started out being cautiously optimistic that we might see a Mario RPG + Ys 1&2 week come Monday, but then I realized that could never happen.

Hey guys, there is this game up on the Wii in Europe - its apparently a Mario game, except you don't scroll from the left to the right, but see him -above- in an isometric view. And you don't just press A to jump on the goombas, you actually have to choose options on how to battle them, and some battles can take a while. For some reason I have seen some preview screenshots online (yes, the review websites apparently got this game very early for a change) show Bowser actually helping you. I would be surprised if anyone would like this disgrace to the Mario franchise.

Oh, and there is some advanced DLC level pack for Super Mario Bros called "Lost Levels". Expensive, though - it cost more than the base game.

So are we going to see this within the next month or does NoA hate everyone still?
NOA hates everyone still.

I vote that we change the name of the thread to "The Horrible Un-Awesome VC Discussion! NINTENDO OF AMERICA BEATS ME BECAUSE HE LOVES ME" if SM RPG is not on the USA VC this Monday.

All right! Finally PAL has been avenged!

I remember reading a CVG years and years ago about how Mario RPG wasn't coming out in PAL and was all, lame!

Now the circle is complete. :D

Lets see it on Monday in America!

Now with this and with Chrono Trigger DS arriving soon, only Earthbound awaits as the last of the great RPG Holy Grails to arrive in Europe.

And America is still waiting for Tingle RPG and Terranigma on VC.
And Earthbound.

Maybe we'll get Super Mario RPG in North America on Monday?

More likely we'll get the Mega Man treatment and not get it for months. D:

Wow, after 13 years, Europe finally gets Super Mario RPG!

I'm just glad to finally see it get the European release it deserved back in the day! (Course I've already imported the game, but it's still good to see!)

So I never played SMRPG, is it an RPG in the vein of PM/M&L? Or more of a classic JRPG?

Yeah the gameplay is the very foundation of PM/M&L. The music is in the same style as M&L 1 + 2 (Same composer) and the atmosphere feels like a mixture between PM and Final Fantasy.

Get it without question, it's a steal on VC! (Especially if you check out the ebay prices, ugh!)

Thanks, I'll get it then. Time to spend those star points :D .

Well we already had ActRaiser.. It was published by Enix but now the two are one.

Interesting, so does this mean that Super Metroid is actually full speed OPTIMISED rather than the soggy, sloppy mess of normal PAL 50hz games?

Also, what's the word on the PAL version of R Type 3 like? Is properly optimized or is another slow down fest?

Any help?

The battles are more RPGish than the Paper Mario series, probably moreso like Mario & Luigi but without so much of the focus on clever button tricks (although it does have the Timed Attacks thing that predated the ones in Paper Mario). It probably has by far the most number of secrets and hidden treats out of all the Mario RPG games, including a very hard Final Fantasy boss cameo.

It's definitely got more shades of Final Fantasy than the other games, for obvious reasons. Also some of the designs feel comparatively un-Mario this day and age, which isn't helped much by the 3D computer generated characters. It feels like the ugly stepchild of the series in terms of relevance to the Mario series as a whole.

However, it's still a fantastic game. The game is funny and entertaining, there's loads of stuff to do and minigames to play, Yoko Shimomura's music shines as bright as ever and it's just a great fun RPG to play. It's definitely one I'd recommend for everybody
who isn't a US-only Wii owner
to play. It has the same "if I try this out, something nice will happen to me" sense of exploration that makes up the 3D Mario games which is something most RPGs lack.

Definitely go get it.

I have avoided this thread for quite some time now because I'm grumpy as all hell due to continued space constraints.

Now this.

Arrrgh. Must delete stuff... but... matter of principle... gah.

Super Mario RPG, of all things. Do so freaking want. I shall spend the rest of the day furiously rearranging my fridge.

Earthbound perhaps... was Parasol Stars release on the TG-16 in Europe? Can't seem to remember.

I think It was, but Im just going off my memory of an issue of CVG I remember reading back in 1993

Mario RPG is the best Mario RPG. Beats the pants off of the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi games. Give this to me soon NOA.

Pfft. Firestorm, you're a nice guy, but Paper Mario > SMRPG. Come on now!

(I do like the ending parade, swiped from the Electric Parade, though.)

We already got the only good Mario RPG game that'd ever be downloadable on Virtual Console, Paper Mario, so I can't care about this EU release.

There are other games Europe has that are worth fist shaking about!
