You're probably right. I'll test this out and I'll have the updates on the next Wii Weekly.Amir0x said:yeah i downloaded the updated... can't figure out what it did, but I suspect it maybe was an update to fix the frequent system freezes people were reporting upon trying to enter or exit the Wii Shopping channel
JoshuaJSlone said:No GameCube or Wii games have ever output anything like 852x480. Why should we expect that will start now, and in Virtual Console of all places?
Didn't it sayAmir0x said:well, yeah, and it didn't freeze. But since it only happens to me about 50% of the time, I can't tell if that was why :lol
I'm pretty sure if they ever were to change that, it would need to be done on a game-by-game basis since they're all self-contained channels.fugimax said:I also got the system update. No idea what it did...games still look funky in 16:9, so it wasn't that.
Well sure, they could show it at any resolution or ratio they want. If it's a widescreen 480p game, that's about as close as they can get to showing what it looks like on TV. They could give a ~640x480 anamorphic video that people would have to stretch themselves, but that's not quite something people are used to doing with video downloaded from the web.TheWolf said:IGN was able to capture Zelda footage at 854x480...
Is there anyway for US players to download these from the Japan servers somehow?Nintendo recently announced specific release dates for the Wii's Virtual Console lineup in Japan through the end of 2006, and as expected, the Japanese lineup completely destroys the US lineup (so far, anyway). Of particular note are two new TurboGrafx 16 games: R-Type I, the first half of what was released in the US as "R-Type" (in Japan it shipped in two parts--R-Type I and R-Type II), and Nectaris, known as Military Madness in the west. Also worth noting is that a select few Super NES games--namely Zelda: A Link to the Past, Sim City and Fire Emblem: Monsho no Nazo--are now listed as 900 points ($9), rather than the previously announced 800 points ($8).

No way. And the upped prices for SNES games is bullshit. If they pull that kind of crap over here in the States, people will riot. I don't think they will - Sim City here is still only 8 bucks.ant1532 said:http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3155548

They will pull that in North America, guaranteed. Do you really think Chrono Trigger is going to be 800 points when it hits? It'll be 1000 points at the very least, and I'd be pretty surprised if it's anything less than 1500. I didn't see anyone flipping cars over due to Genesis titles being 200 points higher than the Japanese price, either...Maxrpg said:No way. And the upped prices for SNES games is bullshit. Man, I loved that game. Great music too.

I like to you see you and your mom waving signs with obscene words at nintendo HQ

I admit I have no way of seeing exactly what resolution it is being rendered at. But if it were, I would wonder several things:TheWolf said:how can you say for sure it isn't rendering the image at that resolution?
I don't mean to single you out, Morts, but the thing has been out 12 days. We only know the lineup until the end of the year. We don't even know what's coming in January. I think it's a bit early to be TOO down on the lineup.Morts said:I can understand holding back some of the big guns, but why not throw some of the average-quality SNES and N64 games up there to keep people busy?

the androgyne said:I know they will end up doing 100+ titles a year, by why do YOU want 100+ titles a year? Are you going to buy them all? I mean, looking at the SNES lineup for Japan, thats awesome yes, but to me that's like 20% of all the best games on the system (and therefore those which i'd actually buy).
Regardless of how you think it's going right now, there is no way that whatever they're doing now, is anything but completely intentional, its not going to flop over and die!
