Wow, this guy is simply amazing. I've been following his playing mostly since last year when he helped decimate opponents, including a 49-point first-half shutout of my school, A&M, last year
, although I'd noticied him since he crucially stepped up against Texas in the 2001 14-3 win when Nate Hybl got injured.
He's been injured over and over, but he's very resiliant and is back for more this year. A very brave and very capabable guy. It's too bad OU lost against Kansas State and LSU last year, it kinda tainted some people's perception (BTW, I'm a big Kansas State fan too, but I don't really like LSU).
He's very healthy this year and the OU offensive line as always is going to do a great job protecting him. Today's game against Houston had OU really go the route of rushing, but I'm sure White will get his chance to obliterate opponents through the air at some point.
Can't wait to see OU and White go through the season and hopefully get a National Championship. This year's team has a lot of stars and talent, and Bob Stoops is a great coach. After last years fiasco at the end of the season, I'm sure they won't be taking anything for granted.
I doubt he'll be considered for Heisman because he already won last year and isn't really the star on a talent-laden OU team, but he's still one of the most solid players in college football, and easily my favorite player in the Big 12 and College Football this year.
Will this:
turn into this:
a little ballet:
definitely deserving last year:
I'll finally have a chance to see him play this year when OU plays against A&M at Kyle Field. Last year, seeing Rashuan Woods and Josh Fields (from Oklahoma State) was the highlight of what I looked foward to in football games (not an exciting home schedule for A&M), but this year, I'm really looking foward to the OU game, and that's in the face of awesome games like Clemson, Kansas State, and Texas Tech coming up.
I was at the A&M-OU game two years ago when we upset them 30-26 (first time A&M beat a #1 ranked team in school history), and I'm sure RC Slocum, A&M's former coach, was appreciative of the fact that OU didn't have White in that game. With him on the team last year, the result wasn't pretty, and it's going to be very interesting what A&M's defense tries this year against his pass attempts. I assume we'll get roasted pretty bad, but at least it'll be fun to see Bob Stoops, Jason White, and the rest of the Sooners play.
They are my pick for National Champions this year.
