Official Doctor Who Series 1, 5, 31, or Fnarg Thread of Moffat & Smith

I'm not a fan of James Corden or Catherine Tate, but I enjoyed both their appearances in Doctor Who.

Guess I'm a little late for the Donna-defence force, but it was nice to have a companion who looked like she could break The Doctor in half, if he ever got too cocky.

I...I liked the catherine tate show (not all of it, just some skits)

and I like her Lauren.

So Yes I didn't mind her on DW.

All I can remember from that season is "Donna noble has left the library, Donna Noble has been saved" x10.

Much as I <3 Moffat, I really wish he'd stop doing these repeat loops from disembodied voices. They never freak me out anymore, they just make me want to fastforward.

It was supposed to show us how grave the situation was. Indeed it was, it burned my mind.

James Corden? ;-)

That was a part of it, and while I loved the doctors lines in the episode parts of it didn't really make sense to me. Knocking his knowledge into the mind of a human, suddenly being really good at football 'the one with sticks' and the awkward 'will they, won't they' of the supporting characters. It all seemed like a weird break from form compared to the other episodes. Though I liked the fact that it was the light hearted 'calm before the storm' of the finale.

I will admit that if they had someone I liked in the supporting role I wouldn't care so much (and angry is a big exaggeration anyway, by it's literal meaning) but personally I'd call it the low point of the series.

Which is too bad because it's one of two episodes that I hadn't actually worked on and were genuinely new as a result (this and Amy's Choice were handled by BBC Wales).

What did you think of "Amy's Choice"? It was one of the high points of the series for me, probably because it was so different.

Great episode which I enjoyed the more for not having any fore-knowledge of the
mouth aliens or Rory's 'death'.

After seeing that awesome children in need special, I just got that I think that's why David Tennant said "You were my doctor" Was he the one he grew up watching?
He at least wasn't the first. In the disc release of the 2009 specials Tennant writes an introduction where he imagines time traveling to tell his young self that he's going to be the Doctor, at which point young Tennant says "Tom Baker leaves!?"

Davison would've been Doctor when Tennant was 10-13, though.

"Turn Left" is making me sad :'( Donna's gramps is a lovable guy. He should have had a couple trips in the Tardis at some point.

I'm on Planet of the Ood. I love these guys. Really excellent costume design.

The sexy voiced Ood will haunt my dreams, and thank fuck for Donna putting on some baggy clothes. I was about to lose my dinner.

I like that episode, its quite wonderful. I like Tim McInnery as the CEO, and the Ood in general are really well realised.

I have to point out that at least Donna acts like she is actually amazed by the whole "instant time and space travel" thing. That really bugged me about Martha.

The guy ripping off his own head and then vomiting up a brain was very...interesting.

EDIT: So far, I like season 4 better than season 3. I mean, Daleks in Manhattan, The Master and Martha? Ugh. I haven't disliked a season of 4 so far.

Not even the adipose? The whole season is consistently good until the last episode. Still, this finale is better than Last of the Time Lords.

Official New DoctorWho Series rank:

Series 5
Series 2
Series 1
SPECIALS
Series 4
Series 3

Funny, because Series 3 still has the best run of episodes.

Oh fuck. I LOVE THEM ALL!!!

Oh, goddamn it Martha.

I'm on The Sontaran Stratagem. Evil GPS? Did a 90 year old write that bit?

I liked the Adipose episode. I didn't like the central conceit - pills that make fat creatures - but I liked the little moments like the Doctor looking lonely and the Matron. Very evil woman, and a nice foil for the Doctor.

Anybody care to fill me in on UNIT?

I thought that bit was quite cool when it aired..

Reminder: I liked The Doctors Daughter too, so my opinion is invalid

Oy. More gun moralizing. It doesn't matter how you kill them, whether with sonic screwdriver or gun, they're still dead Doctor.

UNIT has been around for a long time. Since the Second Doctor IIRC, but they became important during the Third Doctors' run. Basically, the Doctor helped fight off some wonky aliens with a few people who would go on to head up UNIT who tend to deal with International issues that are threatening to the UN. After the Doctor was grounded to Earth by the Time Lords, UNIT took him in and kept him safe during an Auton invasion and he worked with them for a while until he was able to get liberated from being Earth bound.

Unlike Torchwood, UNIT does not strictly deal with aliens, but when the Doctor is involved it usually means aliens...

And you like Martha about as much as I like Rose.
Just sayin'.

I know it's not the same but if the BBC shit Sherlock up like they did Merlin and Robin Hood then I'm going to start cracking skulls.
