Not long until Fnarg now, soldier on!

I'm into The End of Time part 1. Why the hell are so many humans worshiping The Master? He was portrayed as a horrific tyrant who killed humans at a whim.

It's 100X better than the season 3 finale.

So is explosive diarrhea.

Just finished watching it myself. She killed herself because she wanted history to play out as it was meant to and it was the only option she had left available to her. Adelaide knew that the Doctor had gone to far saving them and was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. I think it's a great conclusion to the story.
That never satisfied me. The history resulting from a tragic death on another planet and the history resulting from a suicide after a miracle arrival from another planet don't seem like they'd be much the same. But maybe she never paid enough attention to time travel fiction and thus didn't think this through properly before acting.

I strongly suggest following on from this two parter with the first episode of the new series and leaving it for the night. If you have the time/means to watch it that is. Great set up of the series and has a fantastic coming soon trailer at the end which will get you all excited for the rest of the run.

Agreed. The End of Time so far is so scattered that I don't think the writer quite knew what to do for this episode. Voices, dreams, death prophecies, The Master, sorcery, magic potions, the Silver Cloak, Wilfred, Ood, etc.

I don't know. There is an awful lot going on in this episode, and none of it is actually you know, going anywhere.

How ironic. The first episode of season 5 is the only one I bought so far. Donna returns. And she's happy. Makes my earlier post seem sort of silly. :D

EDIT AGAIN: Oh. Nope, she's still miserable. I am vindicated.

Keep in mind that the majority of his tyrant stuff as Saxon happened in the Year That Never Was. So most folks don't remember it.

Oh, fuck. You're right. But then again...how would they then remember to bring him back? Even in this episode they've pointed out that only his wife and Wilfred remember at all.

Someone stated about a page back that the Planet of the Dead was not on Netflix Streaming this is incorrect. Water of Mars however isn't. So to sum it up

2009 episodes that you can stream
The Next Doctor (yeah it was 2009 here in the US)
Planet of the Dead
2009 episodes that you can't stream
Water On Mars
Dreamland*
End of Time

*Netflix does not appear to even have Dreamland on order...

I'm probably wrong, but I got the impression that the Master hypnotized his wife at the end of The Year That Never Was and had her shoot him. At the end of that episode, you see a feminine hand picking up the Master's Ring/Horcrux. I assumed that the female was also his wife, and she eventually put together a mini-cult to revive the Master.

*shrug* Again, I'm probably wrong.

Nah, that female who picked up the ring was some old bitch that just rez'd him. They showed it in the flashbacks.

For anyone interested in 11th doctor cosplay and have loadsa cash i just found this.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Doctor-Matt-S...ectables_EH&hash=item4cf06e783d#ht_500wt_1154

Id pay that much for the shoes but crikey. I saw one go for £250 last week and that was an XL so i wonder if this will go over £300

Why do you show me these things.

I bought the 10th Doctor's coat already. What more do you ask of me!?
:lol

Seriously. I kind of want it.

That was a HUGE disappointment. There was a lot of speculation regarding who picked up the ring. What a waste and what a waste of Lucy Saxon too.

Oh you have no idea how close i came to putting in a bid a while back but i know it will go far higher with so long left. Its a good shirt too so it would find its way into my normal rotation anyway and luckily none of my friends watch Who so they would be none the wiser! Bah nope! Again, I would easily pay that for the boots though.

All of my friends watch Who and they love the fact that I wear the 10th Doctor's coat in the winter. If I start buying 11th Doctor's clothing they may get worried. :(

But Bow Ties are cool.

Wilfred is one of the best things about the finale. Absolutely love him in it!

Edit: I'll just put this right here. Edit Again: I'm not too sure if this clip is actually from one of the movies.

Oh I have a blue bow tie that is pretty much the 11th doctors. If I were to go out in Devon wearing a bow tie I would set upon by a hundred rural chavs in under a minute!

Yeah, I think one thing is a quirky addition to a wardrobe that shows you have eclectic tastes. Two or more is a worrisome trend. Still, the 10th Doctor dresses how I wish I had the occasion to do.

STOP TEASING ME.

I already have the hair, mostly the face, the fez, the bow tie... IT CAN'T COST THAT MUCH.

Do it. Just become the Doctor. It would be awesome.

Edit: I've considered cosplaying as all the Doctors at once.

Well, except the Sixth.

Ah, then I am no longer pleased with the whole magical regeneration thing. It's too Harry Potter, anyway. The Master is not Voldemort..

AH! Time Lords! What?

God, took long enough. The End of Time first part was a mess. I'm only really looking forward to the second to see how the end of Tennant comes about and if the Time Lords are really back or just a trick of the show.

Now I've got to wait for around 40 minutes for the final episode. Grr.

Of course not. Voldemort was a great Villain, Simm's Master is a goofy supervillain.

I thinking of buying the series five episodes off iTunes to watch when I hit the road for vacation. Should be fun to rewatch them.

The only real plot hole is that the Doctor could have taken them a couple of hundred years in the future still saving their lives but not changing history.

It's not really a plot hole. It wasn't really about saving Adelaide and the others, it was about putting them in a time and place they weren't supposed to be in; i.e. it was about proving to himself that he could completely change history.

DoctorWho said:
You're opposite me. I wasn't a huge fan of End of Time but thought the last 20 minutes were fantastic.

Same. I thought The End of Time was mostly bad, but the last 30 or so minutes was probably the best of the RTD/Tennant eras.

"The laws of time are mine. AND THEY WILL OBEY ME!" "We're fighting time itself and I'm going to win!"

Nice acting, Tennant. Where was this balls-to-the-wall emotion before? Great googly moogly. Waters of Mars didn't really feel like a Doctor Who episode until this part.

EDIT: "This is wrong, Doctor!" What is, you withered up bitch? Saving your freakin' life? GTFO.

She killed herself? What? How the hell does that make any sense? And suddenly a wild Ood appears...

I personally feel that she killed herself because time itself was correcting itself. No matter how it happened, she had to die.

It's kind of like time saying, "Fuck you Doctor, you ain't my boss."

Anyway, you're really close to the 5th series. :D

Just curious, is The Valeyard dead? I'm wondering who can be the
Silence Will Fall
person is, and I'm hoping it's someone sufficiently horrifyingly awesome. (I tend to be optimistic when it comes to Doctor Who..)

He fell into the Eye of the Matrix or some shit, and is trapped in the TARDIS or some shit.

Then again, this is Doctor Who. Canon is irrelevant.

You know.. I am tempted to do this.. have a large collection of the DVD's (family members!) that i'm yet to dive into.. when I finish listening to The Steve Show off of pilkipedia I might just tackle this challenge.

There are plenty of episodes from the first six years that you will never be able to watch, though.

yeah :( I was having a look on the wiki the other day, even made my self a little excel document of all the episodes of the first 4 or 5 doctors so I can mark off when i've watched / aquired them. was kinda sad.

Dad's army also lost a heap of episodes in the same BBC clearouts I think

Because of quality or because they were wiped?

Wiped by the BBC, my understanding is it was a combination of saving space + contracts which required networks to not stockpile shows.. so they wouldnt keep airing repeats thus actors would go out of work.

Not too sure how correct that is lol..

Don't know about the contracts part, but I've heard the saving space parts several times.

Apparently the only reason Monty Python's Circus survived is that one of the cast members (Terry Jones I think) stole the tapes and hid them in his house.

Old TV-stuff was taped on magnetic Ampex-tapes, I think, and those were hugely expensive. As TV back then was still mostly considered a fad and saving the Ampex-tapes seemed kinda useless for something so expensive, they just re-used the same tapes a lot. After all, why would you ever want to save an episode of something? In ten years, we'll have stopped caring about this 'Television' fad anyway.

Or so they thought. Oh well.

Edit: One reel of tape cost about $2000 in today's money, and an Ampex-recorder cost half a million dollars in today's money. So, basically, that's a lot of money for something that didn't seem necessary to save.

What if we did a Classic (or new) rewatch thread similar to the Lost one last year?

I know I want to watch a lot more classic who, and it would be awesome to have lots of people discussing it
