Hm. That episode was a mess. Pointless "OMG my hand is stone," some needless tough guy frontin' from Smith and some weird camera work that made the tunnels appear less claustrophobic than they should be.

Maybe the second episode will tie things together. I consider two-parters to be one episode. It's like the different area codes thing...

Congrats, you and are alike in how I thought the same way watching the first part.

I loved this episode. They play around with the conventions of the Weeping Angels a bit but I thought everything they did added to the suspense.

Yeah the two parter is one of my favorites especially with River Song in the episode.

God forbid you just break it's arm off, Doc.

Jacket.

EDIT: Aw. Don't become a RomCom, Doctor Who. Please? She tried to jump his bones and the next episode is about him sending her on a date. With vampires, of course, but still.

Okay, so her wedding day is of some major importance to the universe. Interesting.

It's handled smartly. Don't worry. The Moff has your back.

Haha, a lot of people reacted like that at the time! There's nothing to worry about.

Have to say, the opening scene in the next episode, the way The Doctor enters the scene, is possibly my favourite Matt Smith moment ever.

Ah. In Moff we trust, indeed. Okay.

You know what. I love the characters from this season, but I'm ready for a really fantastic setting. Something really alien and far from Earth.

The next episode is in Venice, so I'll have to wait at least until after that.

Wait until you get to Vincent and the Doctor. I <3 that episode. :D

Wonderful episode. My favourite of this season is still Amy's Choice though, possibly because it has one of the most well-realised and perfectly-acted villains in the entire forty-seven years of the show.

Depending on the definition, I think Amy's Choice is one of the best pieces of Sci-Fi/RomCom I've seen.

"Wait, you said you had a nightmare!"

And the best thing is,
there's a ton of scope for him to return without needing to fanwank it into play.

Steven mentioned the fez to Piers and I before he even wrote it. He said, "I’m thinking of putting Matt in a fez in episode 13." And of course Piers' and my jaws hit the floor and went “A fez? You’re kidding me, you’re going to put Matt in a fez? If we put Matt in a fez Matt will never take the fez off. He will want to wear the fez for the rest of the whole series. It will be glued to his head. He’ll be wearing it, you know, with his own clothes. It will be a nightmare.” He said, “No no, I’ve got a cunning plan; as soon as he’s got the fez I’m going to kill the fez.”

:lol (very minor (clothing related) spoiler for the last episode of series 5. )

@ Mama Robotnik: What "next episode" exactly are you talking about? The one after the Angels two-parter?

For whatever reason, Doctor Who seasons are short. :(

It's sad, but true!

Eh, not as short as the IT Crowd seasons. 6 episodes? Really?

I think I'm going to go back and watch some of season 1. I miss Eccleston and Rose.

EDIT: "Hey, you two. Yeah, the only black people in the squad. Go down that dark, foreboding tunnel by yourselves."
THANK YOU. That was messed up. :lol

As soon as I saw that part I was like, "aw, that's some bullshit."

I think the first Doctor's was the best. Especially starting with the second of the fourth Doctor's and until the seventh's, they get progressively so much worse.

The new show's brought it back from the brink though, but the purity of the original will never be matched.

Aside from your obsession with Rose, welcome to the cool club of Who fans who loved Eccleston and wish he had stayed around for at least one more season =/

Six episodes is the standard length of any British TV series, so Doctor Who is doing well.

British shows never last for the monstrously drawn-out 26-odd episodes of an American season.

I'm finally watching An Unearthly Child after procrastinating for years.

UK, this is why you should go decimal. Also, Susan is hot (and quite creepy when embarassed).

Just wait until you get to Amy's Choice, best episode since Blink.

Though the season finale is vast quantities of epicness.

I guess the brits can't tolerate filler more than we can.

I adore the early themes - as you say, they're pure in a way that none of the subsequent ones can match. I do have a soft spot for McCoy's theme - simply because he was the first Doctor I watched regularly when I was young - but it is bloody awful, isn't it? Of the new themes, I think the Eleventh Doctor's is the best, but they're all such an improvement on the Fifth to Eighth Doctor's themes.

EDIT:

And the "Delaware" version for Pertwee is just bloody weird...
