IT'S THE DUCK POND!
Sometimes I wonder.

I remember reading or watching something behind-the-scenes and they seemed to really make it a point that they had to install a duck pond where one didn't exist because the script called for it. It seemed utterly unimportant in the episode except to give slight insight into how The Doctor thinks (what doesn't belong). Something that's always stayed with me is that you don't mention something in a script or play if it's not vital to the story (Chekhov's gun).

It was vital to the story. It's one of the things the crack sucked up around her life (the ducks, not the pond). And her house had an extra door because of the alien hiding in it, and the house itself had so many empty rooms because her family had been sucked into the crack.

These are all resolved plot elements.

Yeah, I assumed that house having too many rooms and duck pond as just being signs of
things sucked up by the crack. The crack took things out of existence and no-one noticed any errors until they were pointed out.

No, the Ducks made a nest in the downed TARDIS, super-evolved and became the voice then blew up the universe because ducks suck.

It was all the ducks man.

'Where are the ducks?' He asks. Where indeed.

"According to the Programme for the proms, Matt Smith is going to star in a specially filmed scene as the Doctor written by Steven Moffat and directed by Toby Haynes "

This thing is on telly sometime soon right?

Wait, what? Where does it say that? Previously (see: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00szx56) they only talked about how there'd be no taped segment this time, just the Doctor 'in person'.

And, yes, it'll be on TV some time soon.

Perhaps i need to watch it again but how is it resolved? How would it just target the ducks? How would it target Amy's Parents and not Amy herself?

EDIT: it's high time I get myself a Doctor Who avatar....what's left??

Maybe the ducks went to investigate the crack?

It's not that the crack was specifically targeting ducks, it was just taking random things from Amy's life over the years.

This is where we're supposed to go "Oh Nickiepoo, you're a genius" when it turns out to be true - when in fact you've been working on CG superintelligent evil ducks for months. I'm on to you!

...it's Wednesday; I ain't got no job (until tomorrow)... and I ain't got shit to do with the wife.

Just to celebrate the day, I had the wife make up some Yorkshire Puddings and some gravy and I'm drinking a Fuller's.

That's right. It's time for episode 2 of Fnarg. "The Beast Below.'

Wow. The cinematography is fucking fantastic. Fantastic. It's like looking at an entirely different show. The colors are much more vibrant, and the imagery is clearly more of a focus here..

Also, Rose is out. Amy is so in.

EDIT: "There's an escaped fish." HA!

I say screw rationing, finish it up and suffer with the rest of us. :D

Nothing like a day of nothing but Doctor Who.

Besides, there are other great British shows to watch (Life on Maaars).

This Doctor doesn't suffer fools lightly.

EDIT: Aww, damn it. It's over already. Fuck, this season is fantastic. I want a star whale. I'd call him Roderick.

Matt Smith plays a very complex Doctor. I like him a lot so far, and after Martha and Donna, Amy is a breath of fresh air.

Is it against regulations to like Tennant the least of the three new Docs? Not that he was bad, but so far he's falling third in my list, despite his impeccable fashion sense.

Tennant's still #2 for me behind Eccleston, but with how much Smith improved from early episodes to the final episodes, I think by end of next season I'll put Smith at #2. SMith just needs to work on his angry Doctor, which is worse than Tennat's so far :D

Yeah, angry Tennant was about as bad as Action Star Tennant with Real Sword Swingin' Action!

EDIT: Fuck it. On to Victory of the Daleks.

Don't judge me.

Of the new Doctors:

Smith > Eccleston > Tennant.

I like them all really, but I like Smith best.

Glad you are enjoying the new series WanderingWind. There are a few duffers to come, but its overall very good.

You know what is awesome about Smith? He has impeccable delivery and the fact that he looks slightly annoyed at everything really gives a ton of emotion behind every line.

What about Eccleston made him so good? I haven't watched his stuff, and probably won't for a rather long time. I don't want to cheat on Matt just yet, despite the fact that I must wait for him to return.

I'm actually surprised that I'm liking Smith more than Tennant.. not by much, but I definitely have more fun watching Matt. I initially hated Matt before the season started. I think it was because of those dark 'emo' shots he took standing next to the Tardis. I'm not sure why they did those - He's nothing like that on the show.

Eccleston was a fantastic actor all around, and the scenes where he had to be angry, threatening or mysterious really felt real. Watching him scream at the Dalek in "Dalek" was one of the most memorable parts of Doctor Who for me. Basically, for a Doctor that was supposed to be a war veteran, they picked the perfect actor.

Back to the Victory of the Daleks...their master plan was to become iPod Nanos? Sorry, but Outrageous Orange and Yellin' Yellow Daleks are not exactly scary.

He was a very different type of doctor. They wrote in the end of the Time Lords and the last time war, and he played the role of sole survivor very well. Also, back to my "Angry Doctor" comment. When Eccleston got mad, you could believe it. Maybe it was because unlike Smith and Tennant, Eccleston wasn't a "Pretty Boy", seriously, the guy looks like a young Al Bundy. He also had a great relationship with Rose.

Eccleston also had the best Doctor speech/scene from New Who so far.

And yes the video contains...

They're retro. Colored daleks from those non-cannon dr. who movies.

I like it.

I really am enjoying Smith though, secretly yes, a bit more than Tennant's last season.

He's a great doctor.

Shame DW isn't real popular in America.

Thank fuck for that. We'd reboot it an put Matthew Mcconaughey or The Rock or somebody like that in it. The Doctor would have a sonic blaster, and he'd fuck his companion in the first episode and then the rest of the show would be about the romance drama.

They changed the Dalek's voice. I don't like it.

True, oh so sadly true. Oh well, I guess I mean it's sad I know nobody else who is a fan, least I know GAF has fans.

And there's always the FOX movie.

Weeping Angel episode up next. Oh, man. I'm going to be strong. I'm going to wait.

Besides, Smith delivers the "Don't even blink" line absolutely terribly in the trailer. Oh, look a trailer for the adventure games. Those look like hot, steamy garbage soup.

Is this show popular in the UK, or just familiar? It seems like they would have made a proper game by now...

I'd like to note that it was the british show that introduced sonic blasters, had the first doctor+companion relationship (unless you count the kiss in the 90s movie -- I don't think it qualifies as a relationship though), and had a long run of a very much pretty boy doctor and a spinoff of a gun toting asshole pretty boy.

I don't think these issues are unique to American control of things. ;)

just be grateful we no longer have to suffer Daleks "slipping through time" and escaping in pointless ways just because DTR kept wiping "all" of them out. Its a shame as the episode started out so strong aswell.

Edit: the show is an institution over here, I don't think you could meet someone who doesn't know what it is.

edit 2 : I'm guessing there hasn't been a major game because of BBC licensing issues. They may have to give it away free here....

It's popular enough to have spun off three shows. It's really popular around the planet too. I'd dare say it is one of the top 5 Sci-Fi franchises of all time.

Yeah, I'm ballsy.

Right, except for the sonic blaster would take place of the screwdriver, The Rock Doctor would find himself in situations in which he had no choice but to body slam a Cyberman, and the relationship would become the utter focus of the series.

You know, this actually reminds me of when I posted my initial thoughts of season 1, and I said I liked the fact that the series wasn't about a relationship, but rather the adventure. Everybody laughed and said "you'll see."

I've sort of been waiting for the other shoe to drop. It hasn't happened yet. Even with Martha's constant longing for some Doctor scholong, that was never the focus of the show. More like a sub-sub-sub plotline. Rose clearly had a relationship too, but it was so minor within the context of the show as to be almost incidental. I'm still liking that aspect.

EDIT: I assumed the show was big, but I'm not quite caught up on the culture over there. I know in America, this thing would have roughly 40 games based off of it by now.

its a legal thing - as the BBC is funded by everyone here who uses a TV they have to give us all of their products free - at least when it's broadcast originally anyway. That's why the current adventure games are free here I think - someone correct me if I'm mistaken.
