Was that River Song in that trailer? I wonder how theyre going to explain her 'back story' to all the people who have forgotten who she is.

Next episode looks amazing, that city gives off a huge Bioshock vibe and it excites me! The new Dr hasnt had a nice relaxing peaceful journey yet though has he :lol

That sounds terrible :(

Hopefully it is not the "Nintendo game" they were talking about a while back...

I know that, but it is very likely The Sun got confused last time, and this is the game they meant. They even emphasise CONSOLE in their news item :/

It's not the Wii game - it's a brand new PC/Mac download game, exec produced by Moffat himself. Unlike the Wii game (which will prob. be a BBC Worldwide production), this one has been put together with serious collaboration with the TV team.

I've seen it and played it, it's fun. Don't write off the visual look of it; it's stylised because it's a download game for Doctor Who's vast audience of different age groups. Pictures here: http://www.develop-online.net/features/844/In-Pictures-Doctor-Who-The-Adventure-Games

Here's the first in Develop's long range of pieces about the game, a Moffat/Wenger Q&A: http://www.develop-online.net/features/845/Who-TV-bosses-talk-games

Since no-one's said it yet: Sumo digital. I'm impressed, when I first read about it I thought we'd be looking at a small flash company or something.

I love it when people interview Moffat. He cuts the crap and gives a straight answer every single time. :lol

I had to cut out some of the banter between him and Wenger - it didn't really work in text. But they were both very astute, honest and switched on.

I think that's a big thing to point out. They know how to look after a big 'property' like DW.

I bet they don't release it outside the UK. :(

We asked that - digging through my notes, it seems it's TBC on that front due to the BBC/BBC Worldwide situation. But what's the status of the Comic Maker, Dreamland and the Trailer Maker? This is effectively managed by the same Interactive team in Wales. If you can access them outside the UK, you're possibly safe on the game front. It's just a PC/Mac executable after all. But I'll see if I can double check.

Comic maker and Trailer maker are UK only, I believe.

Dreamland is getting a DVD release here (US), but not until October. I'd happily for these, even if it was a later physical release
or iPad
.

The bit that throws me somewhat is that those are cheap and act as promotional materials - dreamland is probably the most expensive, but that got to do double-duty since they did screen it on television over Christmas, I believe, and they're selling it internationally on DVD; while these new episodes could easily be regarded as promotional materials, I find it hard to believe they're particularly cheap.

I mentioned it over on the gaming side that I'd convinced myself it was a BBC Worldwide venture, testing the waters for a more ambitious commercial project, but someone pointed out that that probably means that they couldn't promote it on bbc.co.uk, which is a very good point - so I'm back at square one.

Incidentally, since it's been mentioned over in Gaming but not here: Charles Cecil is, apparently, involved. That's got quite a bit of promise.

One other thing I think is significant: The release date. Content featuring both MS and KG, with releases *starting* at the *end* of the season; more confirmation that both are staying on? It could just be a Missing Adventures approach, of course.

So after the Doctor's twelfth regeneration, does anyone think the series will actually end? Or are they just going to throw in some loophole to allow him to regenerate again..

Hah, like that stopped the Master.

I'm calling it now: the transition between 12th and 13th doctor will be a movie. A real proper one and not like what the 8th doctor had.

So, the transition between the next Doctor and (potentially) the final one?

They could always say it was a Time Lord mandated thing about the 12-regen limit, and just go on forever. That's an easy one to write around, at any rate.

Moffat said they weren't going to push "Geronimo" as a catchphrase -- yet here it is again. Is he havin' a laugh?
He mentioned in an interview that Matt is the one pushing the phrase into the scripts.

I'm kind of slogging through the 4th series.. I really don't like Donna much. I think I may just skip to the end of it and watch teh transitional stuff and call it a day.

crap, I meant 13th to 14th doctor in that they'd explain how he is able to surpass the limit they think he would have. I'm sitting in a class now and didn't factor in the original doctor wasn't considered a regeneration.

I'm just saying that they'd probably need a big explanation around it. Even if the Master could, it has been hyped up and they can't just have it in another special or end of series thing.

how many episodes have you seen so far? I'd say that you should at least watch:

The Doctor's Daughter
Silence in the Library & Forrest of the Damned
Midnight
Turn Left
and the final two episodes (which are ridiculous and not that good, but it does end the series)

for the final specials, I didn't think the next doctor was that good or really mattered if you wanted to understand the greater story. Planet of the Dead only teases something at the end. Waters of Mars and End of Time are ones you need to watch.

Indeed, they're not cheap at all. These are decent-budget PC/Mac games, designed for gaming newbies and Doctor Who fans, and made by games dev experts and the TV team. It's got nothing to do with Worldwide, which has signed the licence away for a Wii game (and one which is presumably inferior/not overseen by Moffat). Instead, these Adventure Games are part of the BBC's efforts to widen the Who franchise across new mediums, such as games. And the only way to do it right is a) make it part of the series, and b) make sure the TV/games talents work together on it. That's why Cecil and co are in constant discussion with the BBC Wales team. When I went down there, Moffat had spent the morning playing the most recent build. I wonder how many movie directors can say that about an Activision/Ubisoft/EA game tie-in?

And you're right about Amy and the new Doc staying on, for sure. I think the whole 'off season airing' for the games has an added benefit of there being 'new episodes' out when the show itself isn't on.

Why would you make him watch the doctor's daughter.

It's the worst nu who ever. Yes, even worse than fear her.

because there is a small chance that
she may turn up in future episodes, unfortunately...
I agree that it isn't a good episode but like the series finale it has some greater importance, maybe.

Seriously I would just tell him to read the wiki entry on the episode. Yeah, it's that bad

I agree. There were some really disappointing episodes in these last few series. I haven't wanted to just turn it off and stop watching, because I'm still slightly entertained and want to see a resolution, but I'm often in greater parts annoyed by how bodged, cheesy, and messed up some of the episodes can be. There are some brilliant episodes though.

So far, I'm at 1 out of 1 for what I like in this new series. Brilliant first episode.

I'm not really bothered by occasional clunker episodes; I mean, speaking as someone who's been a fan of the series for almost 27 years, the original run had plenty of shitty stories. I love even bad Dr Who. Except for The Twin Dilemma and Time and the Rani, those were fucking abysmal.

The docto's daughter is worse than the twin dilemma.

I've just finished S3 but Netflix doesn't have the "first" episode of S4 up for streaming (the Titanic episode); is it necessary/good or can I skip over it and just start watching S4?

I wonder if Moff saw how appalling the actress was that played the Doctor's Daighter before requesting they keep her around. I hope not.

It's pretty standalone, but it ain't a bad episode. Not breathtaking either though.

A little of topic but I got this last night. Since it is a small tat the police box isn't doable. But awesome none the less. I also got Vale decem around my wrist that wraps to the sides of the tardis. Eff the haters Tennant is win.

Didn't Moffat say that no characters would return (other than River Song obviously)? Also yes, Donna is super annoying and the s4 finale sucked as did End of Time for the large part but I guess they should be watched.

Did the Cybermen in previous trailers for the series not have the Cybus logo too? This seasons Cybermen might be the real ones instead of parallel dimension ones.

The trashed Cyberman that's attacking Amy had the Cybus logo on it's chest.

I guess most people here hate her, but I think the Dr's Daughter has potential - she didnt seem that bad a actress to me. Given Moffat knows her im hoping for at least 1 episode. If its done well it could be excellent.

I liked the Doctor's Daughter. :( Even if it wasn't the best episode, it certainly was better than Fear Her. Fear Her/Love and Monsters would have utterly ruined series 2 if it wasn't for the amazing Ood two-parter.
