Sounds like Anderson thinks he's Cesc Fabregas, the first Spainiard to win anything in forever.

Do you believe Bremen will punish him afterwards for leaving without their permission?

It's a bit more complicated than Rafinha's case. Diego didn't bail out without informing anyone, essentially fleeing the country as Rafinha did. He went to Klaus Allofs and Thomas Schaaf told them that as long as there isn't an official solution on the matter he would fly to Paris in order to meet up with the Brazilian team. He made it clear though that he would immediately come back if Werder Bremen calls for him.

Klaus Allofs already wished him luck for the tournament. I think this is as good as over. The only thing that could further complicate the matter would be if the Brazilian FA doesn't respond to Werder's conditions (in fact they backed down and only want an insurance now).

If Werder punishes him it'll be a slap on the wrist or something funny like him having to do the dishes for a month. They don't want to piss him off after all (see Hamburg and Van der Vaart).

Diego always tends to dissapear in Brazil games...

He didn't in his last two matches but yeah you're right. He even tends to disappear in Werder Bremen matches. He hasn't been fit for months now and his season was pretty disappointing even if he was marginally better on paper than the season before (13 goals, 11 assists in 30 matches as opposed to 13 goals, 14 assists in 33 matches).

As great as he is, his CL performances have been horrible all around except for that one Real Madrid match that we lost.

I blame us for this. We're not Milan or Barca, Diego will never reach his full potential here and he won't be a key player for Brazil as long as he plays for Bremen.

Well, City tried to help you out with this problem, but the brittish money obviously wasn't good enough for you.

:lol WTF is going on at City? Jo wasn't worth 19 million if it means having to sell Ćorluka, Ireland and Johnson (well except getting fans to buy seasons tickets). I shudder to think what Shinawatra had planned if you got Ronaldinho.

Should've worded that differently. He won't reach his full potential in a league as weak as the Bundesliga.

I think we were the right step for him though after he failed at Porto. Just think about it, Werder paid 5 or 6m for him back then and now we can sell him for 25m+ :D

The story we were fed about Ronaldinho is that he wouldn't have actually cost that much money because of endorsement deals. But that is a story put out by a former dictator so I'm not sure how much of it I believe.

Spurs have been picking at us for a while (them and Pompey were trying to poach Dunne when he only had a year left on his contract). Since none of us are cracking top 4 without some serious dinero (or in the case of Spurs, serious dinero on something other than attacking players) the easiest way to put yourself in a better position is to undermine your peers. Spurs poached Bentley, Santa Cruz is always being linked with someone, we bought Benjani, Pompey nabbed Dafoe... it's all rather absurd really. None of us are really getting that much better. (Don't worry, this year is your year Spurs!)

As for the financial stories... THIS ARTICLE that includes a semi-interview with Hughes indicates that a lot of the press has come about because of a routine audit of the club's books. That sounds about right to me; the English press pretty much makes up 98% of its stories.

Hughes denied the Ireland story outright in an interview after the Milan match. People always like to link our players with Arsenal (remember when Micah Richards was going there last season?) so that explains Johnson, who I do expect to leave because he has been dragging on a contract for a while but not necessarily to them. Personally I think Charlie is being sold because we don't need the depth at CB / RB and also perhaps as part of a deal for a RW (Lennon?). Hughes is not the kind of guy I take to be swindled, even if his chairman swindled a whole country for years. :lol

:( I think he's just not pushing himself. I don't know why the german league is seen as a stepping stone. The teams seem to have an inferiority complex in Europe (except Bayern) and really you should be doing much better than France, if not as well. I'll be watching the Bundesliga this year partly because for a couple seasons now there have been more goals there than in any other league. Hopefully the title race goes to the last weekend *fingers crossed*

also not a bad deal for Lennon since he won't be expected to shoulder the creative burden for the team. If Elano does the work for most of the game and Lennon explodes once or twice a match he'll come good.

Surely America doesn't want a 97% Italian in its team?

I wonder if United would consider using that buy back clause if they don't purchase anymore strikers this year.

Rossi is tiny.

We already have Rooney & Tevez who are on the small side.

the community shield will be on FSC at 7, perfect timing too since the USA vs Dutch game ends at that time

.......and gol tv is not gonna be on this year because supposedly their contract is too expensive.

It will be nice to see Portsmouth win.....

"We just couldn't stop him crying" - Carvalho 22nd of May 2008

I'm a little undecided weather or not we should play with our strongest possible line up or not.
They need to play together in a competitive match before next week but at the same time I want to see Campbell, Rodrigo, Fabio and Rafael.

G.Nev is starting but I'd like to see some of the youngsters given a run out in the last half hour or so. Irregardless they will certainly get opportunities this season in some matches against lower league clubs.

Im only rooting for USA, solely because Landy Kegs is not on the team..and I just cant bear to watch Argentina win it again. Also every broadcast should allow the option to have no commentators, its just feel more organic, and the audience give the game much more depth than the majority of commentors

It's fantastic. Not sure if it still works but you used to be able to get rid of it on ESPN broadcasts if you were using surround sound.

“I just want to play for Arsenal, the club is fantastic, we’ve got a great manager in Arsène Wenger, and It’s just a great atmosphere. The fans are fantastic whatever we are going through, It’s a great club to be at.

“Why would anybody want to go anywhere else?, i know there is a lot of speculation, but you can see the way we play together.”

I really like his attitude, he's a proper gooner, a real supporter of the club.

But I think it may be time to go, as much as it hurts. I'm afraid it would be the best thing for both parties.

Why dont you tell that to the rest of your worldwide fanbase?

Would haved love to but I grew up praising the Rossoneri. Ive been a devout follower of Cruz Azul since I was born and that is the team that my dad gave me, but European football was an enigma until I saw the Rossoneri. Love at first sight, Chelsea was also easy to fall in love because of the similarity in uniform with Cruz Azul and the players interested me. Maybe I wanst born in London or Milan but I do sacrifice my sleep to see them every weekend even if its 3 or 4 in the morning, which I know of lot of people do here, and I cried just as much as Terry when he missed that penalty, up to the point that I was having nervous breakdowns and nightmares about that shot. Im emotionally invested in these teams, and its more than can be said about 90 percent of the Man U fans who only appeared at my local pub till the final of the CL.

and the only good thing to come out of Manchester are Joy Division, and The Smiths...

Silva is going to Barca this week, he only wants to go there.

That News of the World rumour about us paying £18m is total bollocks. I wouldn't be surprised if Parry told Bascombe to type it to ease this whole Barry situation. We are utterly pathetic.

They don't need him. He's a great player and could turn into a world beater. But they have Ramsey and Fabregas. Fabregas is still very young.

A goal in the last minute of extra time from a free kick that goes under the wall? That's something the AI does to you when it decides you aren't going to win.

Really sweet goal by Klestjan off the assist from Adu though. The field looked like ass in HD, like the rough at a poorly maintained public golf course.

Dude, this is full of contradictions.

I've never understood why some people mock other teams (primarily Man U) based on where their supporters come from. What does it have to do with anything if football fans on the other side of the planet choose to support us or any other team? Some of them will naturally be opportunists but every successful club in football has their fair share. As Man U are the biggest club, they will obviously carry a lot of deadwood but I just don't understand this argument.
