This should be stickied in the Gaming Forum as well as a mention in the official Forza 3 thread. I'm hoping we can keep growing the facebook page for GAME projects, also allows those of us who are banned frojm time to time to stay in touch with everyone.

alright, launch thread is ready and so is our quickie Facebook page which I will try to maintain. if anyone wants to help administer the Facebook fan page let me know so I can add you. here's a preview of the launch thread that will go up on the Gaming side, let me know if i missed anything

WHAT IS G.A.M.E. ?
It stands for Gaming Art Musica Electronia. It is a collection of NeoGAF posters who have banded together to make and share the music that we love with the NeoGAF community. Our skills range from amateur to professional but we leave our egos at the door and do this for the fun of it all.

HOW DO YOU MAKE ALL THIS COOL MUSIC?
It really varies. Some of us have been able to create tracks by using a Nintendo DS and a copy of Korg DS-10 while the other end of the spectrum have professional recording software and hardware at their disposal. It's not about what we use, its how we use it. In this thread we will start to post our production techniques so feel free to ask any of us how we made our tracks.

CAN I JOIN FUTURE GAME PROJECTS?
Absolutely! These projects are open to the entire NeoGAF community who wants to take a stab at making music or sharing what they have already created. Coordinating projects is proving to be somewhat of a challenge but keep an eye on the OT Forum for future GAME projects.

Special thanks go out to the NeoGAF Mods who have given a home to this project, we're on our 6th release with no signs of slowing down. Thanks to the hardworking devs @ Turn 10 and Che Chou for being an active participant in the Forza 3 threads. Last but not least, a big THANK YOU to those who have (or will) download this release and those who have been following the G.A.M.E. project since our debut release, we could never do this without the encouragement of y'all. Please enjoy this with Forza 3....stay tuned for the companion album to be released when Gran Turismo 5 comes out!

So I just got a couple of new toys:

lg_maudio_AxiomPro49.jpg

The Axiom is...wow, this thing's just sexy. At first it felt a little more plastic-y to the touch than I was hoping, but after I got it up and running...dang, the resistance on the keys and the pressure sensitivity are perfect. Playing with some of my usual custom presets in Logic it's like they're whole new instruments now, so much more expressive. I can't wait to dive further into the functionality and see what this thing can really do.

So are we going to keep using this thread for the GT5 project, or start a new one? I'm already about halfway through the composition phase on another track, and bouncing ideas around for a second.

Just saw the sales numbers for Forza in the Sales-Age thread - 175k, which I think is lower than everybody was expecting. GT5 Prologue, by comparison, sold something like 3 million (worldwide and over more than a single month, granted, but that's still a glorified demo). I think it's reasonable to expect the second part of this project to be bigger than the first in terms of reception.

Okay, I keep checking this thread hoping for updates but nothing doing - do you guys want to keep this thread for the next part or start a new one? I have this idea for a GT5 tune that I have to make happen, but it involves a bunch of stuff that I don't know how to do yet so I need some motivation to get going early.

Either keep this thread or make a new one, but PLEASE link to the new thread in here. I only come to NeoGAF, click on 'User CP', then log off, I don't really visit the board outside of our GAME projects :lol

Any firm date on GT5 for America yet? Last I heard was March for Japan, but nothing since that.

Yep, Sony & Polyphony announced March 2010 is confirmed for Japan, and a worldwide release seems highly probable - I'd expect an announcement after Christmas. We've likely got 3-4 months to top our last release. I think we can do it.

So is Komplete worth the money? I've been looking pretty hard at Kontakt over the last month, and the full box isn't that much more expensive on NI's website.

Sup guys, been working on my Gran Turismo track for the last 3 days now.

Check out a sample HERE

Sounds like you've got a solid backbone there, I like where you're going with the bassline.

So according to Kotaku (and Destructoid) it looks like GT5 will have a "summer 2010" release date, which probably translates to June 2010.

We gonna stick with this being our next release? It'll at least give us a longer release window for a more polished production.

FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I'd advocate proceeding to plan B in the interim, just because I like to keep working on stuff, learning new tricks. Maybe shake it up with a different kind of tempo release in between the two racing ones. Like ambient or downtempo/trip hop could be cool.

Or another classic gaming/chiptunes release, the last one was fairly well received and a lot of people seem to be into that scene.

jeez, summer release?

how about this...we release our own "demo" for GT5 early february for the peeps who will still be playing the GT5 demo.

As for other comps i'm down for other genres...i know Dance keeps coming up as a theme so maybe we should finally take it head on

OR

how bout we do a cover album?

I bet "summer release" is just the prelude for pushing it back to the lucrative console-pushing fall.

I could go for dance, that's just about the easiest genre there is when you're working with digital sound. We could probably bang out something solid pretty quickly.

Hmmm. Depending on how much we want to stick with the GAME numbering we could just do a G.A.M.E. "B-Side" of just general music as an intermission with whatever theme or just a general "Dance" music theme as something to do before the GT5 album. Chiptunes and such work as well, though. The idea of a cover album is also intriguing.

"So is Komplete worth the money? I've been looking pretty hard at Kontakt over the last month, and the full box isn't that much more expensive on NI's website."

I hear Komplete is an insane value for the money. *Insane*. Like 1000$ total for 400-450$, seems like a no brainer if you want a bunch of synths.

The Axiom Pro looks pretty hot and I was totally considering one (And Presonus Studio One), but ultimately something else caught my eye. I will have some new gear coming in as early christmas presents in a few days, pics incoming shortly there after :D~~

aight, lets start a new planning thread. i have a feeling we're not going to get a lot of people participating unless we have a really cool theme.

i'm really keen on a cover album but in chiptunes format

I think I'd like to take another stab at a chiptune.

Maybe a chiptune dance album?

Monchi, when you mention covers, are you talking about covers to any song in any genre, or sticking to a certain genre? Maybe video game covers done in chiptune style? Ah, I don't really like covers, I'm more of a remix guy, even then, not so much.

I've always been down for remixing previous GAME tracks, I think that has some potential. I dunno, just shouting out some ideas.

there's an awesome chiptunes cover of Weezer's BLUE album. this is what i'm thinking for covers. we take a really well known album, something that isn't elecectronica, and then electrify it. or in this case, chippyfy it

Nom nom nom, it arrived. A Korg R3! It's pretty fun, very inspiring to work with a synth in a more hands on way and the vocoding stuff is also neato.
