Oh, I am so in, bitches. The GT/FORZA idea is perfect. hell, we can split it into separate editions.

Monchi, you got that?

I've got the cover(s) covered, as well.

My almost finished track

Some feedback / tips / suggestions would be nice!

The song takes off around 1:50, which I think is far too long for a racing song. Most races will be finished around that time. Not to say that's a bad thing, as there are always longer races/tracks, but it feels like it could start a lot sooner.

Maybe try a mix where you start the song a little before the rise up that starts around 1:40?

Sounds great otherwise, I dig the track. And the kicks sound fine in my speakers.

You know what...we really should put this up on some Console War sites we really could hit it big.

No joke. :)

i love the "convert to ESX" feature in Logic 9...it's a fun way to transform samples into something that can easily be destroyed later on

Fun fact: That's billed as a new feature in Logic 9 but there was an easy way to built sliced wavs ---> EXS files via the EXS24 in version 8.

here's the vibe i'm going for with my track...gonna try and record some more guitar and mangle it (it's just the same phrase looped twice)

I'm lovin it. It reminds me of a tune in GT2 at a car selection screen.

I'd like to contribute if i could. Here are a few of my tracks i've made a few months ago.

Not that i realy have a problem with the project as it stands, but i never played either of these games in their previous versions, and probably never will as i don't own a XBox or PS3.
I do all my racing on the PC and not including a Rally game with a history to the earliest days of videogaming is sort of a blasphemy.
So my question is there any chance to get Colin Mcrae Rally / Dirt involved?
Should have come earlier with this i guess........

Yes! So glad I caught this thread in time! I'm in so hard. Never done a racing song before so I'm looking forward to the challenge.

OP updated with more info - i'll be adding more links to the music creation software up there but please feel free to post your tools and tricks so we can all help each other

Awesome. So I guess the song I'm working on now will be for GT5 (technojazz?). I'll have to start working on a track for Forza since it'll be coming out first.

Are we going to release Forza's half when the game releases, then the other half when GT releases? So it would be something like "G.A.M.E. 6.0: Forza Edition" and then later "G.A.M.E. 6.0: GT5 Edition"?

That's what i'm starting to lean towards since Forza 3 will be out soon, it will also allow us to do 2 release threads for one project :)

Since Forza 3 is coming out sometime in October and Gran Turismo PSP is coming out October 1, should we aim for a release in the first week of October? Or have we abandoned GT PSP in favor of the GT5 vs F3 release?

The only reason I mention GT PSP is from the lack of a solid GT5 release date. For all we know it could take another year to come out.

I'm currently working on a tune inspired by the Forza 3 E3 2009 video and MSTRKRFT. I love how they tear out these crazy dirty synth riffs that teeter on the edge of noise. Like they took it over the edge then dialed back just a smudge.
Looks like it might turn out to be a dirty breakbeat tune.

Those are both pretty hot. The only thing I'd say is to maybe change the rims on one of the pictures so they're not so similar - unless that's what you were going for.

One little criticism m0dus - the 6 on the Forza 3 art is sort of hard to see/read sicne it's half on the car and half in the white. You could probably move the G.A.M.E. 6 up a bit and lessen the gap between the E and the 6, which would make it all in the white section. Just a small point, but otherwise I love it so far.

Another question on the art: On the Forza cover it's spelled 'G.A.M.E.' while on the GT cover it's 'GAME' - without the periods. Personally I'd just remove the periods, I always thought they looked a bit out of place.

alright guys let me know what you think. ive been trying to think of ideas for game 6 the past week and have started and stopped 6 or 7 songs. heres one i made today that i thought was pretty dece so far. some mastering hiccups aside, let me know what you think?

ps soundcloud is destroying the sound. maybe dl?

Sirens

Hey that's pretty good. That would fit a racing game very well. With the proper mastering/drums it's going to be very nice! That's your Forza submission?

And yeah, I've been working on and off as well to make a song for Forza (I halted the progress on my GT5 technojazz song) and made like 10 different pieces. The last one I did was yesterday night at about 2-3 am and it's hilarious because at that time, I was dead set on making it my Forza submission. When I woke up this morning I was like "what the hell is this?". I almost feel like going ahead and finish it. It would be quite epic.

Edit: Actually I'm going to upload it to show you guys why it's a weird a song. Just a sec.
Here it is.

There's my wip. I've never done a racing track before but I think that kinda works. Anyways let me know what you think of it.

I really like how it picks up at around 2:10. Only thing is, that might be too late in the track for the song to start getting louder/livelier.

I'm not sure if it's what you were going for, but the first half gave me a GT vibe (mellow, ambiant sounds), while once it picked up, it felt like a Forza track. :D

I just wanted to say that I LOVE the idea for GAME 6.0. I still bump the Wipeout GAF mix to whatever racing game I'm playing, most recently to PGR4...

Sounds great but, as has been mentioned, a 35 second lead-in is too long, on shorter tracks that can be an entire lap over before the song gets started. You might also want to up the tempo a bit, it kinda felt more like a menu tune. But I really like the bass line and the gated synth over the top, fits really nicely. I think this is shaping up to be a strong compilation so far.

By the way, Forza 3 is releasing in exactly 2 months. We will really have to pick it up to make sure everything is finished and ready to go by then!

ok so i demoed a song for you guys and sdzeta said he felt it was forza material, and i made another idea today. but its also quite non-jazzy. can this not work for this? let me know. ill just make this a song on the side.

Leak

EDIT: just reuploaded with cool atari added in. let me know! added in at 3:12pm CMT so if you happen to be the one who downloaded already... redownload please haha.

I'll be updating the OP with project milestones, we will need a cutoff date for the final list of participants as well as the submission date for tracks.

Nailed it!

Works so far sound very nice..very fitting. I honestly would buy the final album based solely on what I've heard so far.

They also make me miss my home tools...I really should put together a small studio again.
