The storyline is not the deepest we have seen...
The blocking system is both easy, and frustrating to use...
The problem is, if you are in a combo, you cannot just back out of it to block, and thus causing you to take damage...
It is the standard enemies that become a problem. Playing this game, you quickly realize that you are battling the same handful of enemies over and over again. There are a few variations thrown in here and there, but they are far and few between.
Some selective quoting, but how could you ever give the 9,7 then?
I would understand an 8 fully though, but 9,7 is ridiculous.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it is an ARMY that nariko is fighting against correct? I think that was fully intentional by Ninja Theory

"Randomly"? You sure you're not actually just playing the game, i.e. pressing the right buttons, switching into the right stances? You did say something about harder difficulty levels before ...Mesijs said:I completed the whole game without using any skills or remembering any combos. Most of the time it's just randomly pushing buttons and switching stances, you don't need skill for it. It's fun and great, but saying the combat system with the stances works, is bullshit. It could have worked, yes.
Good luck capturing the HDMI output of a retail PS3, since it has HDCP enabled at all times.Marconelly said:Man, GS captures... don't they know they can get a nice, and relatively inexpensive HDMI capturer and use that for PS3 as well as X360 and have framebuffer quality grabs with ease.
In this thread at Doom9, a device is mentioned that supposedly strips the HDCP from the signal: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=913048#post913048Blimblim said:Good luck capturing the HDMI output of a retail PS3, since it has HDCP enabled at all times.

Prizes For Warhawk Competition At 3Rooms 13/09
So you know what you are playing for, the winner will receive a signed (and its poster size! - no messing here) Heavenly Sword print of Nariko, a trophy and a boxed copy of Heavenly Sword, with second place winning a trophy and a boxed copy of Heavenly Sword and third place winning a trophy. Its game on
Mesijs said:Sure, you have to switch stances now and then. You can switch to ranged when there are a lot of enemies up close. You have to switch to power when you're attacked by strong enemies etc.
But when taking the initiative yourself, you can move on and on and push buttons quite randomly.

Gamestop/EB Games is actually giving $30 credit for Lair. Better get it fast because I think it'll drop rather quicklyCaptain Pants said:Who knows... actually I'm heading to Gamecrazy, but I have a hunch I'm not the first person to trade it in... hopefully it will get me $30 towards Heavenly Sword.

Dante said:Woah hopefully they don't drop it tommorow although I could see a lot of people trading in LAIR for HS. I usually dont trade games because I don't like screwing over the devs, or benefitting EB for that matter. But....It's LAIR.
The game uses 4x multisampling anti-aliasingdark10x said:Looking at Gamespot's captures, it really is clear that the game is using anti-aliasing (despite what others suggested). The edges are very smooth and clean. Foliage is a tad messy, but we already knew what they were doing there.

Foliage(at least in that shot) is texture cut-outs. Hardware MSAA does nothing for that - it's nothing specific to HS or their HDR implementation like some people want you to believe, it's just how all current graphics hw works.Dark10x said:Foliage is a tad messy, but we already knew what they were doing there.

Looks to be shaping as the third person hack and slash adventure for non-"hardcore fans of the genre"... would explain why I'm drawn to it so much D; Hope it achieves commercial success, this is a concept that seems like it could sell well to a more popular crowd.Doc Evils said:

Precisely. It's the same thing GoW was going for, really. I know DMC and NG fans sometimes like to rag on GoW (and HS will probably fall in the same group), but they should realize that even though it's technically the same genre, emphasis is put on different things to appeal to different group of people.Awntawn said:Looks to be shaping as the third person hack and slash adventure for non-"hardcore fans of the genre"... would explain why I'm drawn to it so much D;

Also, game is awesome, and all the bad reviews kinda have it wrong in my extremely humble opinion. Though the game is fairly short, the amount of action you get is very consistent. After-touch using the sixaxis is something you have to get used to, but it's a good thing you can turn it off. Love Bohan btw, he's very cool evil lord with his apparent flaws. Well played by Andy Serkis.
It's a good action title, and the Hell mode you get when clearing the game demands all of your attention while fighting.
