Oh god. I don't even want to know how big those downloadable packs would be considering how friggin' huge the demo was for about 2 minutes of gameplay.

Unfortunately if they were to do this...and I'd be very interested in it, as would most HS fans...the titles/antiHS responses would be easy to see. "The game is only six hours, and now they're charging more money to make the game longer? LOL SONY!"
It'd be cool if they released challenges or something, like God of War's side challenges. But as far as adding to the story, nah, work on HS2 instead.

you guys that finish the game so fast must be pro gamers.. I spent 3 hours on the first chapter alone getting all the medals. Now I get super special moves lvl 2 for me to play with when I decide to start chapter 2 woooo (That's not a spoiler btw since in your combo list it shows how many medals you need to unlock each item)
I don't think I've ever played another game where it looked and felt so damn good in clearing out an insane amount of enemies at once
It's strangely awesome that in HS you can actually take down 1000 targets sequentially one at a time. And it just looks damn cool flying around from one target to another.
Just for example, I had a sequence that went something like this :
Slashed one guy (stunning him briefly), then used the second and third hit of the combo on a different guy behind me, then ended it with a flying jumping power slash (and yes you can sort of "jump attack" in this game) to clear out the first guy.
And that's *just* the basics, and not even going into the counters that can be worked in.
Nariko is virtually flying around the screen fighting a lot of targets at once and it's damn good looking.
I can't imagine getting in game combat to look so good and flow so naturally had they stuck with the "normal" hack and slash conventions (block button and jumping twitching).
As it stands you don't get the block animation twitch (where it would cycle from the block animation to normal standing over and over again), nor do you get jump spamming (which does break the illusion of fluid combat). It makes the combat just look so much more smoother than a lot of other games in the same genre.
This game got reviewed in my local news paper today.
The reviewer didn't like the game at all. The headline is "Is "Heavenly Sword" the last brain dead big-budget game?"
He describes the game as being "Generic" "Somewhat fun" "Crazy good graphics". He also call it a button-masher that has borrowed most of it's ideas from God of War, 99 nights and Xena:the Warrior Princess. "Since when should we care about the story in a action game where the focus lies on hammering the action-buttons?".
"The brain dead action games age is to an end, and Heavenly Sword may as well be one of the last big-budget games in the genre."
2/5
It made me mad. He also reviewed GRAW2 PS3 (4/5) and Stuntman Ignition (2/5). I hate this guy
Well, I'm not a super action-player, I ordered the game anyway tough, since I like games with story.
I got it in the mail yesterday, but weren't sure if I were going to start since this is not my favourite genre, and were abit dissapointed in that the game were supposed to be extremely short and easy according to all the reviews..
Well, I started it anyway, and the 8-9 hours I've played so far is fantastic, best story-line in a game in a very long time.
I love playing with Kai, I were very sceptic after the first mission when many people got passed her sniping area, however in the second mission I had better training in the aftertouch-control, and it's really cool.
So far I've gotten to end of chapter 4, and I'm really angry on the boss I meet there.
However I can't for the love of god manage this part, I'm really stuck here, have sat in 4 hours now trying to kill him but unable to get onwards, and need some strategy help here.
SPOILER WARNING if you havn't done chapter 4:
To kill a Fox
I manage to kill the first part of his life, however the trouble begins when he splits up, into 3-5 people, I can't get to the life-bottles wich is taunting me, and they allways manage to kill me before I've killed 1/3 of his second part life..
I'm obviously doing something wrong here, is there a good way on going about killing him?
I've played 1-2 hours of the game and it's decent, but the combat feels disjointed and it still hasn't clicked with me. Oh, and QTEs SUCK! Oh, how much I hate them!
On the other hand, it has really beautiful graphics and excellent voice acting. What I've played so far, certainly confirms my decision to go with a rental.
Ok so far with this game I like the acting. They need to figure out some other way of making the puzzles interesting I don't want to throw hats in obscure positions. I hope it picks up.
OH man! After playing with the GaF clan on Resistance last night, I went to tackle HS around 9pm and when I got done playing.... it was 4am >_> Haven't beaten it yet though. I'm really really enjoying it and it makes me sad that I might be near the end. People were right when we you want MORE!
Yes there are framerate drops and some tearing but it doesn't distract me from the experience. I hope we get side mission dlc ^^
Just finished HS this morning. My advice for those who are still undecided about buying this game: JUST RENT IT. There are some interesting aspects of this game that all PS3 owners should check out. Overall, it's a mess. It should have gotten a 6.5 at most. This game is just like Lost Planet in that reviewers overlooked many flaws because it came with a glossy coat of paint. People who compare HS to movies are nuts. If HS was a movie, it would get <10% at Rottentomatoes. Almost everyone talks like a retard and the mythical elements have little depth. HS is not even comparable to MGS much less a real movie. I don't know why people compare the HS bosses to MGS's. MGS bosses might be freaks but they are still cool. HS bosses are just super powerful retards. Once again, DO NOT BUY.

I'm almost through it, only have to beat the last part of
Bohan's
life. Any suggestions?
Should I just evade all of his attacks, wait until he flies into the air and shoots those ''electric'' kind of bolts and then counter them? Or is there some other way to do it, because I suck at countering those bolts, 2/3 of them hits me lol
There's been some breathtaking moments where I was like WTF BEAUTIFUL. Chapter 3. Kai is hanging upside down and you're supposed to shoot some guys down, when you're done with that you actually get a chance to look at the scenery, while still hanging upside down, and holy mother of god is it impressive! Also fighting

I usually hate rentals but HS is not only short but it has little replay appeal. $60 for a maximum 6 hrs of fun is too much for most people. Also, if I didn't pay $60, I probably wouldn't have even bothered to finish it. HS got many 8s from reviewers but many of the reviews read like 7s instead. There are too many significant flaws in HS for it to get a 8. Once again, DO NOT BUY!

i got to say i agree with this. heavenly sword is a rental at best....just got to chapter 3 after playing it for 3-4 hours last night and i can already feel the repetitions setting in.
surprisingly i actually like twing twaning with 6 axis.
All the reviews i read, read like 9's, but their pedantic criticisms made them give it 7 or 8.
Perhaps we should get over ratings, and just give your opinion that it's not worth buying, since it's apparently so crap. Maybe you should let us all know what the failings are. And why the characters and acting is so bad in HS.
REMEMBER TO USE SPOILER TAGS, BITCHES. I've been going back a couple of pages and I notice some people throwing out spoilers without hiding them. Even though I'm not fond of this game, I don't want to spoil it for anyone, especially since story is supposed to be an important part of this game.

I wouldn't ever trust a reviewer again if he gave this game a 9. Might as well give 9s to a 100 other games released this year if HS gets a 9.
anyone have any idea how to get three medals for the whiptail fights? i kind of struggle to get one. i'm not moving on to chapter 3 until i figure this out. :x

Just finished, really enjoyed it. Boss battles were pretty awesome. My only real complaint was that the game didn't flow as smoothly as I would've liked.

How the hell do you bypass that waves that Whiptail sends your way? The water streams are simple, but the large waves seem impossible to avoid. Am I just missing something?
It's not that it was difficult to finish, but I'm frustrated by the fact that I was taking needless hits.
I'm being told that the lighting in this game, and the AF is the best around. Is that correct? I'll see for myself on Monday...but the lighting eclipses everything else before it?

I was deflecting them. At first I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do, but by the end I figured it's kind of justified, almost as practice for when you need to be good at it.

this might not be such a short game if you're going for all the medals -- and the way the levels are subdivided makes this much more palatable than getting high ranks in most games. it's fun to go for master ninja rankings in ninja gaiden, but sometimes you'll end up playing a level for half an hour and falling just short, and then you want to shoot yourself in the face. doesn't happen here. and the subdivisions can actually lend scoring a strategic element, almost like a 2d shooter -- usually you just have to fight well, but sometimes it's 'oh, i have sit around and milk crossbow deflections to get three medals in this area.' or something like that.
I got this game yesterday. AND WOW the graphics are AMAZING. Also its lots of fun and the combat is good. I just got the heavenly sword though im at the part where the demo starts.
