Official Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess thread

"there are more heart pieces than ever"

Technically, if what we've heard is true, Majora's Mask had a few more heart pieces than TP

Ok, I need a little help here. No, I'm not stuck on the first dungeon or anywhere close to it. I'm only 30 minutes into the damn game:

I'm on the second day and I don't know what the **** I'm supposed to do here. Maybe catch the cat? That seems impossible. I can't figure out who I'm supposed to talk to. I swear I've done like 4 laps of the town. UGH!

Someone help :(

It now takes five pieces to make a heart container. I didn't do the math, but there are definitely a lot of them scattered around. You may be right about MM because it had so few dungeon bosses to cough up full containers.

Stand on the pier next to the cat (the one that runs away from you) and catch a fish. The cat will take it back to the shop.

Everywhere around my city has a large amount of campers. I went to Meijer about 1/2 an hour before midnight, thinking I could just walk in and buy one (with maybe a short line). I ended up leaving with a copy of Twilight Princess, but no Wii. Turns out that they handed out vouchers the day before because people had all ready started to wait in line.

I'm thinking that I will go to Toys R Us in the morning, because the Wii finder app. shows them getting 84 consoles. However, I also found out that they have preorders to fill in addition to the people camping outside (probably 6-12 people). Does anyone have any suggestions or useful information?
I would suggest going to your local Targets. They are getting anywhere from 40 to 120 of them in.

This is retarded--how the hell do I get the fishing rod? I feel like I've talked to every female character on the ****ing map.

Haha, it seems EVERYONE is stuck on that part.

Someone post it on GameFaqs. I don't have an account (and I still have dignity). They seem to all be fishing.

Here I'm convinced the game is bugged or something. SORRY KID I HAVE NO ****ING CLUE WHERE YOUR MOM IS.

Get on the platform where the guy tells you to blow the piece of grass. Now hop across onto the purple house and onto the 2 other platforms. On the 2nd platform there's another piece of grass to blow, once the eagle comes point it toward the little alley in front of you and there's someone/something holding a basket. Take the basket back to the mom and she'll give you the fishing rod.

Thanks dude! I'd assumed
that I couldn't nail that monkey until I had the sling shot... which led to me running in circles for two goddamn hours

I don't know guys Jeff was being nice sounds about like an 8.7 to me...........

I'm sure the game is just AWESOME after the four hours of trying to catch two goddamned fish.

Seems like some people don't know how to play videogames.

Use your brains lads...... Use your brains..............
or use GAMEFAQS LOL

I dread to think how hard you are gonna find it later on in the game, if you are having problems now.....!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that the fishing is just really goddamn bad with the rod you're given at first.

Oh man, the first couple hours of Zelda are kind of rough. I don't like being frustrated trying to figure out what to do in the first little town area :|

Still, I've moved on and I think I'm getting into a rythm here

what do you do with the cat once you get it? it won't let me take it into the shop or anything

When you catch a fish it'll ask you to release it and when you do the cat will pick it up and run back to the ladies house.

WTF man, I've looked all over and
I can't find the first key
. I've played two hours and I feel like I've accomplished nothing, time for bed :(

really? weird, it's just following me. maybe i'm just a huge jackass

You need to go fishing again and catch another fish. Release that one and the cat should grab the fish and go back tot he house.

just 1 hr in and....I'm hooked wii controls are ****ing awesome. Not trying to sell anybody on the wii, but any worries you have on the controls, please disregard..if feels so natural.

I hope anyone getting stuck for 5 minutes doesnt automatically run over here to get answers. I hope you experiment a bit to figure it out.

The combat is what surprised me most about the controls. I really don't know how anyone could want to play Zelda on a regular controller after playing it on the Wii.

Oh, please. I don't have time to waste running around 'figuring it out'.

Are you serious? You dont have 'time'? What, are you on a tight schedule to finish the game or something?

Oh, and..

The key is in the upper left hand corner of the map. There's another cave entrance that's gaurded by bats. In there is the key.

can someone give some spoiler free impressions about controls, music and stuff? that'll be much appreciated.

We'll have to unlock drinky's reserved topic now.

No, just have an extremely limited amount of time each day to play. If I wondered around 'figuring it out', I'd either miss out on a tonne of games, or be backlogged like no tomorrow.

You gave it a 10 even though you obviously had issues with the control?

Exact same thing I thought and didn't post when I saw his review before going to sleep at 2am last night. Hilarious really. Saying sword swinging isn't a major part of Zelda and yet saying there's a problem with it and then topping it off with a "10" overall!!!

Your review is a joke.

What's so hard to get about this: no game is perfect and every game has flaws. His review obviously works around the scale that the game is of the highest possible standard that he can recommend, albeit regardless of control issues which don't detract from the sheer quality of the game as a whole. GameSpot obviously works around a difference scale of averaging out scores for gameplay, graphics, sound, etc. and "tilt" -- which covers the reviewer's subjective liking of the game. Whichever you prefer, these are merely different scales of criticizing games, and neither score (8.8 from GameSpot and 10 from PGC or whatever the hell they call themselves now) is a "joke", as you so aptly put it.

Edit: [Looking at the picture in the post above:] Zeruda love knows no bounds.

I feel retarded. It's been 2 hours of gameplay and I have yet to catch a fish. Is there some stupid trick I am missing? Anyone have any ideas on the best way to catch a fish early on in the game?

:lol This thread is moving like molasses. I guess it is early though.

Hopefully everyone's enjoying the game and not hung up on the fishing part.
