I asked about this yesterday and it honestly seemed like the consensus was that every one is okay with the direction of the league which seems ironic. The exact things that people ran Shawn out of the league for are now becoming common place. If this trend continues maybe we should have another league next year. One with a zero tolerance policy for these kind of shenanigans.

I think you made too much out of the few comments in that thread. I wanted to stay out of it, so I didn't post, but I definitely wasn't an 'enemy'. I thought it was wrong for others to try and push you out of the Texans. Any conversation should have been between you and matrix only.

To be fair, you did make Matrix pay one heck of a penalty to get the Texans so you didn't really lose out. Maybe you'll feel better after you get away from the game for the night and get some sleep!

You can't take any of this shit personally. I went after Denog pretty hard early in the season, but it's forgotten now (atleast on my end, lol). Just be upset for a night, then turn the page. You have to have a thick skin at times though.

Hell, when I brought up the idea of trading Calvin Johnson, I got PM, IMs and posts asking about it. I said no and then it died down. You could have easily done the same unless you wanted to do the deal.

i don't get the "shawns behavior is becoming commonplace". the league is the same as it's always been: people win, people lose, people talk shit to one another, people threaten to quit or quit, other people join, madden life goes on.

i think you may have a distorted view on the way the leagues functioned in the past. as a credit to everyone in the league, we have completed the first season without a snag due to the strict deadline on advancing games. this has kept enthusiasm up. there have been arguments in the past and there will be arguments in the future.

i would say that this has been the best online league/franchise we've had since madden 06 on xbox (and we only had one season of that!)

It's just a game. It's easily to idealize past leagues, as FMT says..but IMO this is the best it's ever been. Sure some games have weird plays, but considering that we have drafting/trading/etc, it pushes this over the edge and makes it #1

And don't give me this shit about "well they threw 6 ints what was I supposed to do?". I lost a game last season in which I threw 6 picks and played like shit from start to finish and my opponent didn't top 40. 72 points is just obscene and you should feel ashamed.

I'm not saying the past leagues were smooth either but I don't remember this much rampant running up of the score. Unless the talent gap has grown that much between the top tier players and the bottom tier which I just don't believe.

People seem to be trying to win at all costs, to humiliate opponents and to generally make the experience of the league not as fun for those of us who aren't playing cut throat.

I already said last season that I think you're too lenient at times because you continually hold on to this dream of a peaceful 32 man league.

And I've already gone on record about the out of control trades. Honestly I think in the future people need to provide some historical, real world precedence for whatever ridiculous trade they're trying to pull off. If people want crazy rosters why don't we just do a fantasy draft at the start?

you are assuming we are playing the same game as in years past. we are not. there are issues with the game and the game is CLEARLY slanted towards offense. further, the playstyles of some individuals is a high risk, high reward. this is why you are seeing a lot of interceptions being thrown. while they may not ALL be TAINTS, you give someone good field position with an adequate offense and you see what happens.

High interceptions have always been a problem because we're not trained QBs. It was rare in the past to see ANYONE post a positive TD to INT ratio.

I posted in the trade thread and I posted more times in the regular thread. I still don't see why you would really truly care in the long run if I got my team back and you took the players you traded for like you did and took over the Chiefs. You have no connections to the Texans and think Madden is just a game and nothing to get worked up about.... yet you quit and now are blaming me basically.

I told FMT I would have never brought this up if you were winning with them. We both were struggling so I figured I could finally get my team back and you wouldn't care. I was dead wrong.

I'm not the only one who feels this way, some people for whatever reason don't want to say anything.

I am honestly starting to think that maybe next year we need a non cut throat league for those of us who don't read Shark waters on a regular basis.

Maybe people aren't out right cheesing but you can't tell me these regular 50-0, 70-0 blowouts are good for the league's health.

We all know there are levels to the GAF madden clique with all the pre Next Gen people being part of the inner circle and its fairly clear that you guys are all okay with how things are but there are a lot of people in the newer crowd that aren't okay with this.

So again maybe we need an old timers league where playing like random Live Asshats is okay and a league for those of us who don't spend all our time reading shark waters and learning the ins and outs of the game.

I didn't sign up for a league where only scrubs get traded. People shouldn't have to write an essay on why they deserve to trade a given player. I think this league strikes a good balance and allows people to play GM.

Maybe we should make the ground rules more clear before starting Season 1 in Madden 11, and you can consider whether or not you'd like to find another 32 man league that's more sim, with insanely strict trading standards and perhaps an actual salary cap.

edit: I don't know who this cabal of people you're speaking of (that fear the cutthroat players) is. If I have a problem with someone, I'll say it. If enough people say it, that person will get dealt with. It's as simple as that.

I promise you I am not alone in my feelings. The league has become unbalanced.

Edit: My feelings about this extend past my most recent games. Obviously it comes off as a lot of sour grapes on my end but I assure you that game was not the only thing shaping my opinion.

And as I stated before its not like I haven't been blown out before or that I think that blowouts should never happen, I just think the general sportsmanship of the league has gone down hill.

If no one else speaks up in agreement then I won't say anything else about it for the rest of the season (Barring obvious rule abuse). However I will conduct an interest poll next year to see if people are interested in league that is a more level playing field.
